Coastal Carolina and William & Mary are in deep doo-doo now!

I can't read all of that, it is freaking endless!

How can NCAA not give them the death penalty?

YIKES!

"Notably absent from the Notice of Allegations is the name of any football or men's basketball personnel."

huh? I doubt the NCAA will do much after it is all said and done.

Couple of observations:

1) UNC is dirty. Those emails are very damning.
2) If this isn't lack of institutional control, there will never be a case of it. This is worse than SMU
3) Grade fixing, no show classes, special treatment...it is all there, across the board in various sports.
4) This was going on for 18 years. That is incredible.

Moz, there was definitely mention of football personnel, John Bunting specifically.

This was going on for more than 18 years, at least 23 years by most counts. Looks like the NCAA skirted around the "Dean Smith" era, for now. UNC's own response to SACS (the accreditation agency) revealed fake classes going back to 1989, and 22 of the first 25 "student-athletes" were Dean's BB players. But there will be pressure mounting to include that omission.

doubt there will be a death penalty. More like reduction of scholarships and no post season availability for the sports affected for 1 to 2 years. Should be similar to Syracuse.

It is amazing how stubborn UNC has been on all this when it is clear that they have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Anybody else still want the Big Ten to take UNC and Virginia? I say this will destroy the ACC and open them up to be gutted since UNC wear the big boy pants in the conference

An ESPN staffer tweeted that the "UNC AD said that the NCAA will use the old penalty structure for any penalties, as opposed to new, tougher one." Sweet. That may explain the AD Bubba's trip to Indianapolis last month to meet with the NCAA. In any case, remember that UNC was already on probation for previous violations involving FB. Surely this will be factored in to the penalty phase. But first comes UNC's official response to the NCAA's NOA, which will be communicated within 90 days, I think.

The powers that controlled and enabled this whole fiasco is the Ram's Club, UNC's deep-pocketed booster organization. The athletic program's administration is an extension of the Ram's Club. And the athletic program's administration is an extension of the university's administration. So there's the LOIC charge, the university will receive a deservedly severe penalty for its sins. The "death penalty"? Well, if such a penalty is at the disposal of the NCAA, surely UNC deserves it.

Holy crap. I skimmed maybe 25 of those emails and it's pretty obvious what was going on. Not that it's a huge surprise, it's just interesting to see the actual emails. Anyone else notice the title of this Jan Boxill? It was Director Parr Center for Ethics. Ironic.

They may get similar punishment as Sarah did, but this is way, way worse.

When all is said and done everyone will see that cheating pays...for the big boys/high profile teams. I am sure this will result in little real penalty.

Nothing to see here. Move along. I'm just a big flightless bird with my head stuck in the sand.

I'm thinking the NCAA just wants this to go away, even though much worse than Cuse. A little surprised UNC didn't preempt with some trivial self-imposed penalities. This would have set the table for the NCAA to claim time served.

I have to think my old friend Jimmy V is undoubtedly smiling down at this long-overdue "outing" of the Heels. Deano, well, he's looking up at it, twitching, with a cig in one hand and a glass of cheap scotch in the other.
