OT: Vaccine

My wife and I are both mid 30s with no underlying conditions. Work in finance in NYC office so not essential or front line emplyee (been WFH in NJ remotely every day since March).

Two kids below vaccine age (3 and 5).

Is it safe to assume we are Phase 827z and getting the vaccine absolutely last?

All those who are hoping to get back in order to go to games at the stadium and RAC this fall of 2021. Don’t see this happening for quite some time. That is when we will see the true mishandling of getting the vaccine out to the public. Great to have 2-3-4 choices but it better be completed by June of this year or forget opening schools and universities and enjoying some sort of normal.
Not true, again.

Unfortunately someone is always going to be last. To be perfectly honest I don’t think anyone knows the answer to your question. The facts point to those most vulnerable should be given the vaccines first. Good or bad your family is at lower risk for severe covid19 infection. Doesn’t mean you are risk free just that you, wife and children are in the lesser group .Your age group is most likely to be symptom free but could spread it to others. The governor is projecting 4.7 mil by August and that still leaves quite a few out. Some choosing not to be given the shot is another thing. This is where it is going to be tricky.

Probably.

I’m 62 and 1B but if I could trade my spot with my 28 year old son so that he could go out and enjoy life while I wait a few months and sit at home, I would.

I would say you are correct but even being vaccinated does not prevent the person from being a transmitter of the virus and within that is the conundrum for all of us. By you taking the shot you should have a better chance of staying safe and protected. Your son as much as you love him stands a much better chance of getting through until his age group is up for the vaccine. I’m sure he prefers you getting it when your time comes up. If he has no restrictions your the guy who needs to go first .IMHO.

brad1218 as a 40 year old maybe you chance it but at the first sign of a surge ( even minor) that will stop . The donation is great but unless we see results by June- July you may likely be sitting at home watching it played out on tv again. Time will tell if we are in a better place I hope.
So are we betting? You will donate $1000 if there are fans?

Save your money I have plenty as of today. You may be correct but based upon how the Rutgers president feels maybe you should place the money in your cookie jar.And fans is 2 or more... if you say packed stadium you would lose and easily. See you think as a normal 40 something with a few $$$$ . Yes donate that is what we have always done for many years except the last two years of Ash where enough was enough.

Being eligible for the shot means nothing about how soon you'll get it As I said try to get an appointment. It will take weeks .maybe months unless you are one of those people that win at the lottery

Crazy. I keep hearing these centers will be open 24x7, but people can't get appointments. I'll be there at 2:30am if I have to. I'm guessing it will be staffed like any other overnight place...one or two people running the whole show, so capacity is a tiny fraction of what it is during the day, but "it's open all night".

My understanding is that the centers will be open when they have an inventory of vaccines to inject.

My county hospital in FL has been injecting 1500 vaccines per day when they have available product. During the past 2 weeks they have been open for about 4-5 days. The other days there has been no vaccine available. Delivery of vaccine shipments has been very sporadic so far.

According to the CDC, Florida has received more than 1.6 million vaccines and injected almost 650K to date, about 40%.

Did you register online yet ? Not that it means anything in this day and age but probably should . We registered and received the reply of acceptance by the state. 1c but he’s claiming now “ end of February” ? Hoping with today’s announcement things pick up. 600 k + doses available today ... vaccinated since start 243k ... keeps getting more not vaccinated versus
those who have gotten it.

I’m likely waiting to hit one of the centers next month. Not in that much of a hurry BUT will be getting it

With the loosening of the restrictions, it's essentially "general admission" for getting your appointments now. You don't need to provide any proof of qualification regarding age, or medical condition. Heckuvaplan, Murphy. And way to stick it to the essential workers. I guess with a certain someone getting impeached a second time, we may as well just open the states up, vaccinate anyone who wants one whenever, because none of it matters any more.

With all due respect you’re nuts if you think this is gonna be the case. Not a chance we ONLY “maybe” see 25% capacity.
NUTS: I hope I’m wrong but I don’t believe I said 25% capacity in our stadium. I am pretty sure I said , “ packed stadiums will not be happening” . If the state of NJ still has several million left to vaccinate come August and we may. Then you are hoping and not being logical. Get your vaccine with the rest of us and hope for better days going forward.

Well yeah! Because the virus definitely disappeared after a certain date before Thanksgiving. Just like the geniuses predicted.

1/4 = 25 percent, Bob.

Yup. Clowno already stating they need to start opening things back up in NY as well. Could’ve won a lot of money in Vegas on this shit.

they are opening places but like I said in NY when you go for an appointment the site is inoperable or they say no vaccines yet--as for NYC they seem to be giving shots but mostly city workers--the good news is that over the last 7 days the dosage distributed natinowide is up to 29.3mill from 17 mill alhough only 10.2 mill innoculated

I have a feeling the process for making an appointment in NJ is going to be a predictable mess at first.
I feel very fortunate....my wife works in a local hospital and they opened their portal up today to employees' spouses that meet the new criteria to register, so I got an appointment tomorrow morning at the hospital for my first shot.

Cry that not enough people are eligible. Makes more eligible and then you cry about that. MDS!!

Yet somehow NY has vaccinated a higher percentage of its population than Florida has.

They couldn't get through group 1A within any sort of a reasonable timeline, but opening the gates to all comers is going to fix that problem?

the first thing DeBlasio has done a little right--it's easier to get the shot if you are a city resident but if your residency is any other place in New York state you are currently screwed

Actually the rest of NY state has a higher percentage vaccinated than the city does.

Murphy is moving smokers and fat people to the front of the line . Two “conditions” caused by the person. Any way you slice it, it’s BS

I'm with you on this one. But that decision is targeted towards two groups with higher probabilities of developing severe symptoms which lead to more hospitalizations and less bed availability in those hospitals. And eventually more cost burden on the insurance and government systems.

Exactly what I heard from family in Long Island last night.

I’m not sure anyone should be labeling the overweight or smokers as the complete issue here. I’m not overweight and do not I smoke . It ‘s sad that the ineptness of leadership once again rears it’s ugly head by causing everyday people to point fingers and put the blame on them. Both those things are addictions. Same as alcohol and drugs. For all we know those drinkers and druggies out there are also dying more frequently from this virus.

Anyone who is eligible and waiting for the states system to notify them is insane. You need to be proactive and check your county and town websites for availability.
Mercer County web site is next to useless; they direct you to the state site, town sites, or to the private pharmacies that are set up to distribute vaccines (which are no longer accepting appointments because that's how full they are). My town site says to contact the state or county. Typical government circle jerk.
