Good night sir.
Wow you are a very strange individual. Sad person.
I’m nothing but happy my friend. I won’t engage this negativity here because it’s not the proper forum. Best of luck to you. Let this thread get back on the proper trajectory of getting the economy back fully open thanks to science and the vaccines.Well, I've been happier than you all year! So what's that make you?

And what if the government makes it worth their while to require it?I can say I am not worried about showing proof to travel or go to a concert. Concerts ticket sales have been declining for years now. The travel industry is also hurting big time. In the long run it all comes down to money and this nonsense about not letting people do these things and turning away their dollars is BS ! Money talks !
Binder said 100 days for the masks. So 5/1/21 masks off.#s, so let’s discuss (with some #s (-; ), with a few questions. Sorry for the length.
So if you’re vaccinated it appears to me that in the WORST case (70 or older), the death rate is now .05 (95% protection from vaccine) x .05 (94.7% survival rate per CDC) = .0025 IF you contract COVID. This is the worst case. Does that make any sense to shutdown the world and the consequences? Health, social damage, economic schools etc
I’m not clear on this, but are we saying that even people that are vaccinated can spread it? If true then even if everyone is vaccinated there is a probability of people spreading/ contracting COVID and dying. We just lowered the probability. Yes/No?
So serious question, what is the acceptable % probability to open everything back up to normal?
When exactly do the masks come off? Honest question.
Remember, on top of a large % of the population that will be vaccinated (50%+), new hygenial norms have taken root, as well...more sanitizing, hand washing etc. so that also lessens probability of transmission.
If folks that receive the vaccine are totally in the company of others outside their family who have vaccinated, will they go back to interacting normally? There’ll always be new strains.
As I stated in my initial thread, no one should be forced to take the vaccine. Those that are vaccinated I’m very happy they made that choice for themselves - appears they’ve significantly lowered their chances of dying. For those who choose not to, they are accepting the risk, they should not be stereotyped as selfish in any way. What I have a huge issue with is folks that have received the vaccine continuing to want to keep supporting things shutdown. As stated above the impact and damage is much more serious. My strong opinion is that is selfish. “Living” is not just waking up everyday and breathing.
Barber shops, at least the ones I see, have required you have your temperature taken to enter and a questionnaire. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a single case of Covid traced to a barber shop. So vaccinations aren't the only route.
I hate Deblasio but there is a lot more to these stats. I work in the industry. Some NY hospitals were following the state/CDC guidelines around who and when and their numbers are lower, others are vaccinating accountants who would never be in the same building as a patient and their numbers are higher. Blame here actually should go to Albany and DC not the city because they know of the inconsistencies and are letting some hospitals take the heat for following the state/federal guidelines. Some hospitals are now offering to vaccinate pharma or insurance company reps that are in the building everyday to get their numbers up. Still hate Diblasio.
I'm a healthcare worker.
I would say that there has been an awful job with educating the public on these vaccines. People think an "RNA vaccine" will make them grow 2 heads or a third nipple. Anything that's has to do with anything genetic the public mistrusts. Same goes for GMOs. It's completely unfounded and harmful to society.
I have been a physical therapist for 26 years in NJ. I went to UMDNJ. I had to provide them with my immunization records upon acceptance into the PT program. Before I could go to the first day of classes, I had to get 5 booster shots, get tested for TB, and start the hepatitis B vaccine process. If I didn't, I wasn't allowed into the PT program.
I work in an outpatient setting, and yearly TB testing and flu shots are mandatory. Right now the Covid vaccine is optional, but that could change in the future.
Maybe not a third nipple. But what long term effects have been reported on something that was uber rushed into development?
shut up bobDidn’t Murphy tell all regular people , the non essential twits to, “ Do Not Go On the Site “ there’s a glitch or overload ? For the love of God vote this idiot out when he’s up for re election.
so sorry for both of your losses. My cousin lost her 65YO husband today from covid. . Yes he had asthma. She lost her 63 year old sister in august from covid. No major health issues.
My tune on this thing turned somewhere in between. Carry on.
because pregnant women weren't part of the trial. Why the warning to pregnant or planning on getting pregnant women? Would/should we revisit the birth defects from this great drug of the 1950's?https://www.discovermagazine.com/he...-mystery-how-thalidomide-causes-birth-defects
damn bro not very alphaHave they given guidance regarding travel? By matter of chance, I reluctantly got my vaccine recently. I’m fine with a mask but I don’t want to hear crap about quarantining if I travel.
Or, so alpha that the guy running the county site calls you and says “we have a few time slots that nobody signed up for and if they aren’t filled the vaccine will go bad”. Kind of like when people think you are important enough to let you know the school cafeteria has extra cookies at the end of the night.damn bro not very alpha
Binder said 100 days for the masks. So 5/1/21 masks off.
Calling bull on that. There are tons of people signed up on the site waiting to get an email that would drop everything and go get a shot if alerted one was available. You cheated the system.Or, so alpha that the guy running the county site calls you and says “we have a few time slots that nobody signed up for and if they aren’t filled the vaccine will go bad”. Lol. I cheated nothing. I was qualified to get the shot day one. Simply had no interest because felt others needed it more. Would have much rather had my parents get it. It’s not like you just roll in. You need to show proof that you are eligible. But sure, would have been better off letting it be thrown in the trash.Calling bull on that. I’m not making any employees get it but I told them I don’t want to hear crap when you use all your sick days sitting at home watching Netflix on quarantineI am of the opinion that it should be voluntary but I also have no issue if businesses or employers say you want our service or you want to work here you need to get the vaccine.

NYPD should be prioritized and the 1B is indicative of that, isn't it? Why are you yelling about those 1A people getting vaccinated? This makes perfect sense from a logistical standpoint. If first line and primary, healthcare professionals get sick, who will take care of those 75 and over? They are face to face with CV-19+ individuals of all age ranges. Remove them from their ambulances, the hospitals and their offices due to sickness and there won't be enough medical staff to care of the sick.
This can’t be right. News keeps telling us Florida is a disaster.I am over 65 and have a home in Florida and NJ. I got the vaccination on Jan 2 in Florida. I was in the first round for my age group. The county I live in is up to the 4th round of giving available vaccine to anyone over 65. My friends in NJ my age have no idea when they might get the vaccination. Things seem to be moving much faster in Florida. They want you to wait 4 weeks for the second shot and they think there will be a lot more vaccine available by then. The idea here is to get the vaccine into as many people as possible as quick as possible. The state is not holding back a large quantity of vaccine.
So you agree that people with a .9997 percent chance of recovering from the Wuhan Virus should be the priority BEFORE the Elderly over 75 ?
How about municipal workers with no contact with the public or are Phase 1A, but have limited contact with the public ? or like the Mayor of New Rochelle NY that jumped the line (he's 51) and now he's "Sorry".
Logistics; that City had vaccine shots available because of the majority of Phase 1A workers in that city had declined the shots. Busses for teachers in that city were organized and the teachers ready to be taken to the hospital that had the shots. State of NY heard about this and threatened arrests. Busses cancelled. Shots still available.
FDNY still refusing/declining to get the shots at a rate ABOVE 60 %.
YES I'M YELLING. I DON'T WISH TO SEE THE VULNURABLE DIE BECAUSE OF INEFFICIENT PRACTICES.
Do caps hurt your ears ?
I’m a dentist as well. Got my Moderna vaccine friday. Arm sore but feel great otherwise. My whole staff will have received dose one by the end of next week...

That can't be right. It's not a disaster. It's just flat, hot and boring. 😀This can’t be right. News keeps telling us Florida is a disaster.
Those that can’t take the shot due to allergies or other medical reasons are effectively going to be discriminated against by the “patriots” who are just military cosplayers afraid of needles. Congrats. And once all that want to be vaccinated are which will be a good % we should be good to go because all that are vaccinated will now be magnitudes better protected and the others are willing to take any associated risk.
For those who don’t take the vaccine for various reasons (allergies etc) shouldn’t be discriminated against.
The black market for the scary “ cards” will be booming.
Seems it was based on a double-blind study of 24 patients. I see the report of 91% survival rate. But I'm not seeing the stats for the survival rate for the control group. Nor any details on other treatments employed, or the survival rates for those treatments alone or in combination with other treatments.Florida stem cell treatment for COVID-19

Can you be my best friend? Finally someone who understands facts and knows how to distribute them. You're so wrong it's not funny and you continue to post misinformation, which is not helpful at all. I was not "very wrong" on the distribution timeline. I simply quoted the government's estimate of 20MM vaccinated by early January - never promised it. I did say I thought we'd have 100MM vaccinated by the end of March, which I think is still realistic. You want me to link that post?
The virus will continue to mutate, but it will likely continue to mutate at a fairly slow rate, which is why most virologists feel the vaccines will likely be effective for a few years at least, although that's not 100% known and can't be known until we get there, but it's based on the best science out there (and as I just posted, it's looking very likely that the new variants will not be an issue for the current vaccines).
Finally, there is zero evidence that the virus was created in a lab and released. You spend way too much time reading conspiracy websites which are simply full of crap. It's impossible to disprove a negative, i.e., that it couldn't have been found in nature and accidentally released from a lab, but I'll go with the virologists on this one, i.e., that this virus evolved in bats and might've jumped to an intermediate hose, like SARS/MERS did, before jumping to humans, which is how every other virus in history infected humans.
Below is a link to the latest paper on synonymous coronavirus divergence indicating that the most recent common ancestor on the SARS-CoV-2 evolutionary line (between the bat coronavirus found in Yunnan Province which shares 96% of its genome with SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-2, itself) diverged about 50 years ago. Also, just because China didn't let the WHO in doesn't mean it came from a lab. It's just par for the course, given that China's transparency throughout this pandemic has been horrible - but that's how they roll, and again it doesn't mean the virus came from a lab.
https://academic.oup.com/ve/advance-article/doi/10.1093/ve/veaa098/6047024
Having said all that, we absolutely do need to be exploring potential origins of the virus and since more than a few folks seem to believe the accidental lab release theory is possible (but no virologists believe the virus was man-made that I know of) that ought to be evaluated also, if only to put the issue to bed. And keep in mind, that NY Mag article was written by someone with zero science background - it's an interesting story, but with many holes.
Florida is doing Healthcare workers- they were first along with people in nursing homesFlorida is giving the vaccine to over 65 before healthcare workers. NJ has decided to do the opposite.
I am sure there will be exemptions for people in certain categoriesThose that can’t take the shot due to allergies or other medical reasons are effectively going to be discriminated against by the “patriots” who are just military cosplayers afraid of needles. Congrats
