OT: Villanova reaction after being upset in NCAA tourney

Because, in my view, the laughs were for all the wrong reasons. It wasnt good natured, at least not by many who posted in this thread (not saying you're in that boat). It's not laughing with her, it's very much laughing at her. I don't like it, and think its sad that such a thing is accepted. Yes, this girl seems to have taken it all in stride, but no one knew that would be the case when the photos were initially posted.
Boss, you are taking the chuckling too seriously. An adult was crying after the loss of a basketball game. It was caught on camera, it was amusing, she took in in stride. You must hate watching real comedians who make fun of people all the time. When its directed at you, its not so funny, but its humor to everyone else. Humor is not sad. It may not be funny to you, but its still humor.

Trust me, we have all thrown things, slammed things, and screamed something at tough RU losses. If it got caught on camera, and became viral, we have only ourselves to blame.

I am sure she will move on without any psychological scars.

Actually, you missed the point. Hardly surprising, though.

She doesn't seem to have any emotional scars, based on her actions. At least not outwardly, that is.

It seems more than a few think its ok to laugh at someone else, and mock them. I'm not in that camp. to each there own, I guess, but I wonder how much of this really comes from hatred of one school (and, a good bit of that hatred comes from one poster).

Insert old man yells at cloud .gif here.

Live a little dude. According to Yahoo, GMA and some other media sources she is doing okay here.

This whole thing is wrong on so many levels. I am all for someone sincerely shedding tears when her dreams are dashed. However, as all of us know, it has now become the fashion to shed tears over just about any setback, a nauseating development. Sincerity of emotion is a thing of the past.

Of course the media finds a way to turn the positive of this girl's emotions into an absolute negative by giving the girl her "10 minutes of fame". Once again. superficiality wins out over all.

That's awesome. She got to sit in with the band. Play the fight song. Got a gift basket and Taylor Swift sent 2 tickets to her world tour. God.... she must be devastated and scarred for life.

Don't think she was...but she might be the only college band member to sit in with the Tonight Show Band...which as noted above, is a pretty cool thing to do.

Actually, most here agree. You are missing the point.

Yes it is.

Let's not forget the premiere of Fallon's Tonight Show featured the members of the RU MB with Bono & the the boys.

Not allowed to speak badly about the old CYOs without being chastised.

Is it just me or does this happen elsewhere?

I don't visit others boards very often but I feel like the way these type of threads usually turn/end up, it's a Rutgers thing.
Just wait until the follow up to the TTFP game so our own "fans" can tell us how we have to respect them and how we can't criticize Cuse or UConn in bball because "we were almost them" or some other crap.

Personally I would like to see what happened if someone posted how Michigan fans could not be mocked on the tOSU board....

What may scar that girl is not all the faux outrage over her crying but seeing that image of creepy Biden behind her...well done, whoever did it!

You guys obviously never visit the main board.
Oh I have. And it is where I have learned to be sad for our future and be happy at the same time...

sad to know there are real people out there like some of those on the Main Board and happy that I ain't one of them.

But the point in the post was more directed at us where it seems like in most threads on ScarletNation we always get to the "yeah, but...." part of it with the lecture(s). What I was really asking is this just a Rutgers thing (the finger wagging and clucking of a certain few) or do others do it too?

Again, funny is funny. And this was funny. The Biden thing was creepy funny but still funny IMO.

Saw her interviewed on Good Morning America, she was a senior it was the last time she would be playing in the band with that group of people after four years, the team losing, life as a college student nearly done. Not inappropriate to cry in that situation.

Wishful thinking. Catholic schools have been known for quality basketball for YEARS, and despite the football-driven arms race many of them will do fine for years.

And why do they deserve anything bad to happen to them> They acted on their own interests. Those were not our interests, so of course we were at odds. The problem was the Big East as a conference, that silly hybrid with some schools having one set of interests and other schools having completely different ones, was a bad idea, a makeshift skiff doomed to hit a reef and sink. But I can't blame the basketball schools for wanting to act like basketball schools any more than I would have blamed the football schools for going their separate ways back when most of this board wanted it to happen in the pre-Big Ten days.

She was very charming on the Fallon show. Going from playing in a college pep band to sitting in with The Roots on TV must have been nice. Good story.

they deserve to get whats coming to them because they didn't treat all members alike. Yes RU was generally a bottom feeder for basketball with some mediocrity thrown in. In football RU got good but the Tranghese did this school no favor, they never went to bat for football interests, they had all sports but basketball ruled everything. Does not sound for fair for the schools that also had football did it?

Already being in the Big 10 you can tell that its first class and first rate and favoritism is kept minimal. The contempt shown Rutgers and even WVU upon finally being allowed to enter the Big East for basketball was evident.
