I don't follow baseball at all, but I am guessing this is another high priced player. Shouldn't the Yankees be good when buying every player?
You'd think that is a better strategy than trying to buy and manage an all star team.
you dont like getting the best closer in baseball for.......nothing? Stick to football..Why would they want this guy ?
We've already got a closer....and a pretty good 8th inning guy.
They must be preparing to trade Miller for a starter or big-time hitter.
I don't like it. We have other needs.
As already mentioned, Yanks let Cano walk and have been rather frugal over the past few season as bad contract expire. Chapman only made $8m last season and will be in the $10m or so range this year after arbitration. He will be a free agent in 2017, so not a long term commitment. AWESOME trade for the Yanks.I don't follow baseball at all, but I am guessing this is another high priced player. Shouldn't the Yankees be good when buying every player?
A little disingenuous, no? The Yankees had the resources to keep Jeter, B. Williams, Posada, Rivera, and Pettite together.Well I mean we DID kind of do this in the mid-90's, remember, a bunch of guys from their farm system who went on to win 4 or 5 rings?
Chapman may be looking at a suspension for alleged violation of the league's domestic abuse policy. Think Ray Rice, sans video.

Most other teams could not afford to pay all 5 players when they reached their prime.

they gave nothing to the Reds to get the best closer in baseball. Nothing. As in....nothing. look at the royals to see how valuable elite relief pitching is.The Yanks already have one of the best closers in baseball.
IMO there are a number of other areas where an upgrade was in order.
Everything you wrote is true, just like my statement."disingenuous"? Not at all. The POINT is that they didn't get rid of them, before they came up, and you can't really blame the club for having the $$$ to sign its OWN prospects now, can you?

Hey, it wasn't with one of my daughters.Worse actually, involved gun shots. http://deadspin.com/police-aroldis-chapman-fired-eight-gunshots-accused-o-1746787087
But he's an excellent player, Yankees now have the 3 top K/9 guys in baseball.

This trade doesn't preclude them from making other upgrades. They barely gave up anything.
...or the Reds gave him away for nothing. Why is everyone ignoring the fact that Chapman was previously traded to the Dodgers and the Dodgers voided the trade?
Don't worry they will never admit it. They are the ultimate win at any and all cost team and fan base no different from Jerry Jones or the Cowboys fans. I am proud that the Giants don't sign low life scumbags to win a few extra games.I wonder how many Yankee fans, who are also Giants fans, were killing the Cowboys for signing Greg Hardy?

Were you? I'd say its a little different when you and I had no idea what our players did, but Greg Hardy and Aroldas Chapmans exploits are well known to there new teams. Just continue your Yankee spin though.Partisan are you also proud to be a fan of Stephenson Barnwell and Boggs?
