Yet, this summer, I've been to the beach, parks, and outdoor restaurants a number of times.
So yeah I would say NJ is doing pretty damn well.
Yeah I'd like to be able to go to inside bars, concerts, sporting events, and travel abroad, but living in a country where 30-40% of people think a pandemic is a hoax put the kibosh on that.

OK. I'm not really sure where people who need round the clock care can go other than a nursing home or a hospital.
If they have a contagious disease it’s probably the place they were already at...a hospital.
That's what I am saying. Either the hospital overflows with contagious people or the nursing home. I saw people say send them to MetLife which is just not realistic.
Sure it was. That’s what that type of emergency set up is for. Not forever, just to mitigate so the real places don’t get over run.
We had the Javits in NYC, the Brendan Bryne in N.J. and a few other places that had the room and easy access to and from.
Biggest phony on this board? Not sure about that. Greg2020 has some stiff competition in that area.
IDK about that. I believe they were using Javits for non-COVID patients and using the hospitals for the virus. The lag time to set up something on the nursing home level with the regulation required would have been tremendous if not the project itself not possible.

There was also the hospital Ship Comfort provided by the Federal Government. For some reason, it was barely used. And some forget NY State and NY City were slow to enact restrictions, unlike California and Washington--the subway propagated the virus throughout the tri state area and in other areas of the country at a rapid rate. But they seem to forget about that stuff and prefer to tilt at orange wind mills.

Everyone knows what the Priority Point System is. We have been told for years by Rutgers of its importance and how it works.
That’s who gets in first after the family/friends group.
Not seniority but point totals. And I know I probably wouldn’t make the cut but that’s the way it works.

He should have set it like he did for NJ Casinos, 25% of your establishments capacity or lower if that's what he chooses. This arbitrary number of 500 is just that, arbitrary. It doesn't take into consideration the size of the facility. That would have been the fair and logical way to do it.
As for who goes who doesn't, like @e5fdny pointed out, that's what the priority point system is for. Just like the B1G Championship Wrestling tickets, those with the most points got to go. Except for @Knight Shift who sold his to psu fans.
so you think. but that is not the case. the LTC facilities were mandated to take their own patients back...even though many of them were at a higher level of care then they were when they left....not ventilator care mind you but requiring a bit more attention. Additionally, and most importantly, they were not cohorting patients so everyone was intermingled and contaminating each other. They were not testing staff or patients and more contamination occurred. They were not testing anyone or even triaging anyone and more contamination happened. One LTC facility in Freehold had 12 people die because the maintenance man was sick and spread it around.
Florida....God's waiting room, on the other hand, shut LTC facilities down from the get go. The state has a huge LTC population that did not see anywhere near the percentage of deaths that NY or NJ saw.
I think they should have those with high points get in.. but also have, maybe 20% of the seats go to a drawing of other season ticket holders and even students.
Even at the 500 number.. using 100 seats for goodwill among the entire fan base is probably a reasonable thing to do.
NY/NJ certainly could have handled the nursing home situation better, but there also wasn’t wide spread, easily accessible, quick testing in place like there is now. This region was also where the spread started and went undetected for weeks.
Florida has had that luxury of adequate testing and months to prepare for the spread before it really hit.
So I don’t think it’s really fair for anyone, from either side, to compare states.
Over 661 people have died from licking stamps this month in NJ? Maybe we need to use more self-adhesive stamps...

This is like a fantasy AD/Prez thing but I would
- recruits and families of players.. that could be the whole 500 right there.
- make sure all the huge donors get what they need.
- Poltiicians.. ehhh.. hard call.. my heart says NO.. no Murphy and friends showing up for what has then become a very hard to get ticket... but he is a rich guy so he could always come as a donor
- at some point though.. I reiterate that some lottery system that keeps the whole fan base and students involved would be a good thing.. perhaps more valuable overall than the 501st priority point total getting in week after week. yes, a small dose of socialism.. share the wealth.. call it an investment in spirit..
Sorry, it just cheapens the whole idea of it. We all know the rules and how to move up on the list if we really want to.
Do the lottery thing for the Students but everybody else by point total.

Wasn’t specifically talking about you but I’ve seen and heard a lot of people comparing how NJ/NY and Florida handled nursing home patients and I think the circumstances are so drastically different they shouldn’t really be compared...it’s kind of an apples and oranges environment when you talk about March/April vs. June/July. So much has changed.
Dude.. the Washington State nursing home deaths were in the news heavily back in mid-March.. this (NY and NJ nursing home issue) never should have happened at the end of March. Every state should have looked at the Washington State case and found a better way to handle things.

I’m okay with that...not comparing NY/NJ with Florida although I do think @GoodOl'Rutgers is right.
But still not sure why it played out the way it did up here.
At least we have some sort of blueprint of what NOT to do the next time around.
Florida started cohorting LTC patients from the start. They didn't force the centers to take back patients from the start. And by start I mean March. The beginning of this whole mess. That's the huge part of the difference. Testing aside, they kept sick LTC patients away from healthy patients. That made all the difference in the world.
NJ had widespread testing long before May 12th when Punch & Judy decided to finally start requiring testing and cohorting in LTC facilities. MAY 12TH. let that sink in.

Dude - it’s hard to figure out a way to handle things appropriately when there’s no testing in place. There was basically no testing in place in March.
I said NY/NJ could have done things differently (i.e. not send them back to the LTC facility), but when you don’t have adequate testing it makes things much harder. Or when it takes 7-10 days to get a test result back it makes things much harder.
I’m sure thousands of people also got it because people were spreading it undetected. A huge part of the problem in this area was for 1-2 months it was hard to identify who actually had the virus...which means it was hard to isolate people who did and didn’t have the virus.

I'd be willing to say that nursing home management failed as well.. allowing this to happen.. but we have seen how New Jersey uses everything in its arsenal to punish those who don't kowtow to government edicts.
It’s not apples to apples when it comes to testing, which is a key tool in identification and isolation of people which can substantially decrease the spread. When you don’t have testing, it’s pretty hard to isolate and disposition people in nursing homes properly. Not everyone who caught COVID in a nursing home was detected, or went to the hositpal in NY and NJ.
When the influx of spread happened in this area we basically had no testing system in place, or a very limited/delayed testing system. When the influx moved down to Florida, they had the luxury of 2-3 months to prepare as well as pretty adequate testing. The first case in Florida May have happened in February, but there was a couple month delay in overall spread compared to this area.
That’s my point.

Mistakes are made by everyone, but NJ (knock wood) is the only state with 2 weeks of declining cases. Which is great news for all of us here.
What does the current FL nursing home % death look like?
I had grandparents end up in those facilities. I'm aware how they are. I don't see how you just send them around.

The “mistakes were made” line/phrase has been used for years to denote a really bad move. I would be incensed if I lost a family member and heard a chief executive say that.

FL/AZ/TX and others will not have a summer.
In NJ we do. Sucks we can't have concerts, go to football games or inside bars. But we're doing darn well all things considered.
