Since I didn’t vote, am I still allowed to sneak in a thrilled?

Was about to do the same - before I saw the date stamp on the thread. lol.

Truthfully, would have been hard to be anything more than cautiously optimistic after the intro presser.

Don’t think anyone would have dreamed we’d be talking about 4 straight tourney births, dropping #1 twice, beating 4 straight ranked teams, climbing as high as 11 in the country or being on the precipice of top 5 classes. And doing it all the right way and making us so proud of this program.

For the record I was one of the 24.7% Happy, but then I tend to be optimistic when it comes to change. My only insight was that I knew someone who played against Steve in HS/Prep and he said he was the kind of player the could ruin your day.
Interesting to note since spring 2016:
Illinois - John Groce - GONE
Indiana - Tom Crean - GONE
Iowa - Fran McCaffery - still there
Maryland - Mark Turgeon - GONE
Michigan - John Beilein - GONE
Michigan State - Tom Izzo - still there
Minnesota - Richard Pitino - GONE
Nebraska - Tim Miles - GONE
Northwestern - Chris Collins - GONE
Ohio State - Thad Matta - GONE
Penn State - Pat Chambers - GONE
Purdue - Matt Painter - still there
Rutgers - Steve Pikiell - still there
Wisconsin - Greg Gard - still there
Bonus
UCLA -Steve Alford -GONE
USC - Andy Enfield -still there

Including RU 10 B1G teams changed coaches and 4 of the more successful programs have the same leader.
Ding ding ding winner, vegan dinner.
I thought that was the most interesting part of the thread

The statue is coming
The only question is what color will the quarter zip be?
The whites are my least favorite.
Blacks #1, Grey, then Red with Whites far behind.
Anyone know the record by quarter zip color - I swear the whites are a curse.

Unless you know something we don't, Chris Collins is alive and well at Northwestern.

I was sitting about 15 feet in back of him while he was coaching on Friday night.

Best of Luck,
Groz

For some reason people on message boards think all coaches that their teams hire should come with Championships and Highlights..lol.
Not saying much. But I was also in the feels good but and wait see bunch. 🔥🔥🔥. Ironically this was going into my second year as a full time RU BBALL fan! Good job Pike!

Interesting to see what some of you said at the time; I don't remember what I thought 7 years ago; probably - who; and now SP is our 2nd most successful coach (after TY).

Anyone who did not check thrilled on this either does not know anything about college basketball or forgot exactly how bad Rutgers was. This guy has been a God send for Rutgers if you want to believe it or not. They were pretty much at rock botton coming off the Jordan disaster having not made the tournament in over twenty years I believe. He now has them as as a very respected program.

The poll was at the time of hire; wouldn't think anyone said thrilled at the time. And I sat at the EJ games. But "optimistic" was probably the best at that time.
