Doesn't the retailer get a percentage of the winnings?
Retailers who sell Powerball do not get a percentage of the winnings they get a flat fee of $50k for having a powerball winner. Otherwise they get less than 5 cents per ticket sold.Yes, and lottery brings in more foot traffic and add on sales.
Just today I chose a store to pick up milk and some other items because they also had lottery.
Even though another store was more convenient to get to.
I think my money will go to an upper deck (or two) at the football stadium.Needless to say - if I win, our BB team would be playing in the new derleider arena. Although I might just spend the money instead of payin enough to get the college ave campus named after me.

As far as additional sales Proud you are in a vast minority. When Powerball and Mega get large is much more of pain in the ass than it worth
It's less than %5 and you also have to have a specific checking account so they can withdraw the money every week. They all cost money no matter who you use so lottery is at best break even.I have had several retailers tell me the same thing. You kinda have to have it, but make no money. Just another NJ screw job. Retailers should make at least 10% on sales. 5% is ridiculous.

But it is not a NJ thing. Powerball is a separate entity just approved by each state that sells it. It is sold in 44 states.
You know that actually did cross my mind but I don't know. The restaurant winning was a set up hoax for publicity. Watch in the next few days.
