As a program, UNC women's soccer is easily comparable to, though even better than, UConn women's basketball for how dominate they've been over the last so many years.

Do you think women's soccer is starting to get a lot more parity? Is UNC struggling right now, in comparison to their past? Don't get me wrong, we'd kill for what they'd call "struggling." Since winning in 2012 they've struggled to make it past the quarters in the last few NCAA tournaments (and haven't won the ACC tournament since 2009).

The scholarship limit in women's soccer has to be bringing parity in the sport. I was watching a segment on Abby Wambach before the Women's World Cup and she didn't go to UNC because they didn't offer her any or very little scholarship money while Florida offered a full ride. UNC told her she had to wait her turn for the scholarship money

Also there are more girls playing and I have to believe the coaching is getting better at more schools just not UNC

Agree with sutton, there are a lot more elite girls coming out of high school than there use to be. The popularity of the sport is keeping more great young athletes playing soccer as they grow up and the level of coaching they get is improving all the time.

Another thing I was also noticing are the number of very talented international players coming here and playing women's college soccer. FSU has 3 from Iceland and they wouldn't be where they are right now without them, PSU has a couple of foreign players too. I'm not sure if this has always been the case or a newer development in women's soccer. Even while RU is mostly Jersey strong, you'll see a Canadian out their once in awhile But clearly, the best programs are using foreign players to their advantage.
