RU Baseball weekend series in S.Carolina

couldn't agree more.....its embarrassing really.....a blue chipper will not give us a look, sad to say...they really had a bad game plan on how to compete in the big ten...probably had no plan. lets just wing it. a bunch of snobby uptight arseholes...is it too late to play catch up, we shall see.
100% we have the single worst in the country including d3. To not have a real stadium, 1000-2000 grandstand, lights video board, lockerrooms and a real press box is completely embarrassing. Obviously the northeast has its issues. The state of rutgers baseball is totally the coach. Maybe 90 percent the coach and then the typical administrative crap like not having a baseball stadium. We could certainly chanrge tickets if we had a stadium with a real entrance.

I thought there was a plan in place for us to pick up some stadium like improvements from the demolition of facilities in Newark and/or Camden? At least a scoreboard or something? What a waste of money those venues wound up being.

Yes, about three years ago, I was told face to face by someone very high up (not Pat Hobbs) in the Athletic Department that we had already contacted people about acquiring parts of the Eagles/Bears Stadium when it is demolished. I do not know what is holding up the 1.7 Billion Dollar Timber Tower, but as far as I know demolition still has not started at the stadium. Camden's stadium was demolished this Winter. I do not have any information if we tried to get anything from that stadium. I believe the Scarlet Raptors will still play at that field and the surrounding area will be turned into a multi field complex for Rutgers Camden which will be needed as the enrollment continues to increase there. I think they are expecting an increase of 2,000 students over the next ten years.

Husker, that must be an old NCAA rule or a University of Nebraska policy. Over the last five or six years, two of my nephews have played multiple regular season and travel baseball games at colleges in New Jersey (high school and travel) and Pennsylvania (travel only). These have been at various college levels--Division 1, Division 3, and Community College. Some have been multi-day tournaments. They have also played games at the Lakewood Blue Claws stadium, a pro Single A farm team for the Philadelpia Phillies.

Agreed. Both my daughters played in numerous travel softball tournaments with games on college fields.

Who were the folks behind the creation of the facilities? Does the Somerset Patriots’ facility have the same basis? It appears to be thriving for a long time. Should Rutgers baseball be playing home games there instead of trying to repurpose the stadiums in Camden and Newark?

I dont know what he means. These stadiums were not rutgers facilities directly. It was the independent league team and the camden stadium was also used by a minor league team.

Doubt either of the cities would be willing to keep a facility and keep it up for the sole purpose of RU playing 20+ home games there.

He said they were wastes financially. I am saying we were playing there. It seems he thought we financed the stadiums which isnt the case. Certainly they wouldnt keep them for us.
