Just had a thought about drawing in more fans to the wrestling match preceding the Rutgers-Maryland football game. Why not hold the outdoor match at the Marco Battaglia Practice Facility next door where more of the casual fans would be aware of the match on game day?

Perhaps that's not a good idea if fans watching on the field wind up damaging the turf or if the facility would wind up being too "small" to accommodate. But if that's not a concern, all the fans standing in the complex may draw others in from the tailgate lots. Better to have a packed smaller venue than a cavernous stadium with a lot of empty spots.

Just a thought. I'm sure others can provide better insights on such things.

How would you put 16,000 thousand people in there and be able to see the match???

Also, all of the fields except 1 (I believe) are natural grass. Too much risk of it being torn up.

Like I said, just a thought. Didn't know just how many wrestling fans we were talking about. To watch it, I would have suggested a raised platform where the fans could stand on the ground a look slightly up.

But it seems impractical. So I'll just return to my laboratory and go back to creating my Rutgers football playing cyborgs. We'll have a "killer" team on the field by 2019.

Different idea. Set up a wrestling mat in each lot. March both teams from lot to lot wrestling one match in each of them. Scoreboards can be carried by staff Pro Golf style on signs on poles. Marching band can lead the way from lot to lot.

Good. Good idea. I like it. I would make one small change...

Don't have the wrestling teams go from lot to lot. Instead, have the dance team and the cheerleaders go from lot to lot.

We literally filled the entire end zone + for last year's match vs Princeton.

bring your own tailgate chairs and find a spot?
ummm..no .Football is a 330pm start..wrestling could start at 10am or 1100am in the stadium.

Be a little hard to see on a flat surface unless your tailgating chairs are in the first row surrounding the Mats.

The match last time in the stadium drew 16,000 - the second-largest attended wrestling match ever. We have a record number of season ticket holders this year, AND it's a conference game, AND last time the football game was 8 hours later and now it's 3 so probably a larger crowd than last time. The practice field has stands that seat about 2,000 people.

Great idea. However those 2000 aluminum seats are over in the old practice field...artificial turf area and not the new complex.

I also think that with so many good wrestlers on the team right now, this may be a big draw. Looking for great wins with this team. Hopefully a beautiful day.
