RU-Wisconsin game next year will be at Madison Square Garden

this is simply an atrocious idea...RU will get 1K or so fans to this game....that's how bad we are, season ticket holders and fans are not paying a whole bunch of money to go to NYC to watch a terrible product. Hobbs dropped the ball on this one and should have deferred until 3 years later.

RU presence was little in the BE tourney and our last road game at MSG vs SJU we had 400 tops, this will be an epic fail and embarrassment. Do the administrators of Rutgers and the Big 10 realize we have a dumpster fire and the fans have left in droves. I am sure someone in this thread will say its a great idea to have NYC presence all the while ignoring our pathetic record in Big 10 play

Wonderful. Combine that with the traditional 1pm late December workday start and season ticket holders can look now look forward to 7 convenient conference games. I'm sure the Garden game will be included in season ticket package whether or not going to a game in the city is doable or desirable or not. But who gives a crap, right?

Why would I pay over $100 with game ticket, train fare and food to see a 50 pt blowout?

Committing to this arrangement -- Rutgers is their own worst enemy. Doormat/punching bag status in perpetuity.

The reason to have season tickets is for the conference games not for November games against Newark and FDU and they just threw one away and I guarantee it will be included in season ticket package. Obviously they couldn't convince some other team to throw away a home game next year. Nothing ever changes.

They are doing this because the conference wants a New York prescence. No one likes it. But it's a reason we are in the conference.

It would be nice if we were a better team. That's what Hobbs will be working on.

You people are 100% retarded ( read: slow) in your thinking on this.
This is a CONFERENCE DECISION, not a Rutgers Decision.

It is a great event.
Penn State had buses loaded with students for both games, and they used it as an event to get alumni together to have a good time in the city holding open bar events at near by bars for elbow rubbing and fundraising purposes in between the 2 games.

In typical Rutgers Fan Fashion, to a man you are more concerned about how it affects you.

So happy narrow minded fans are not running the show in New Brunswick.

My previous post was questioning others who said RU wanted this..therefore I essentially said what you're saying now, just in fewer words.

are you oblivious that we cannot draw students to the RAC despite a multitude of them just a stones throw from the RAC..so you think they are going to jump on busses to go to NYC to watch a basketball game....same goes for alums...RU participation at the Big East tournament was weak, so I don't get why all of a sudden fans would flock to bars for a simple conference game. The interest level in the basketball program is at an all time low. That's why its a bad idea. RU isn't Penn State, they don't have the success where the fans and alums will come out for something like this..and you cant even compare it since Penn State played a hockey game and RU is not

We don't really have a home court advantage at the RAC right now, so if we're gonna give up a home game, it might as well be next year. Maybe if we can become more competitive in a few years, it will be nice to have our full compliment of home games.

I don't have a problem with this if season ticket holders are not forced to buy tickets for this game.

A lot of B10 schools have a lot of alumni in the NY area, so this is an opportunity for them to see their alma maters without traveling hundreds of miles. For Rutgers fans, playing in NYC is less of an advantage. It is less convenient for many Rutgers fans in NJ, and the fans who are in NYC already have lots of opportunity to take a short trip to see Rutgers.

I don't see a lot of season ticket holders making the trip. You have to figure that most of our season ticket holders live in central NJ (if they were too far from the RAC, they probably would have given up their season tickets a long time ago), so a trip to NYC to see Rutgers play another conference game is probably not a priority. Season ticket holders already get to see all the other conference games and OOC games at the RAC.

But there may be a thousand or so Rutgers fans in NYC or directly across the river who will go. Plus a bunch of casual fans who may do this just for something to do.

But if season ticket holders are forced to buy this ticket, I will be fairly pissed.

This game will be awesome when we get this team turned around. People will be excited to go but right no it's going to be embarrasing with no fans showing up for it.

Yeah this probably sucks for most season ticket holders, but for a football season ticket holder like me who has never been to an RU basketball game, I like it. I work right down the street so I might make this my first, assuming it's a cheap ticket.
