sixty 60 recruits will be guests of Rutgers both 2017 and 2018 recruit targets for this game..getting blown out and having the stadium empty at halftime will be a huge hit landing these recruits.
I dont care if Gio,or Oden has to run the wildcat,or if Cioffi has to be a linebacker(which may happen) .
RU has to be able to compete in this game!
Get it done Ash and Company!

I will do my part. My wife and I have our stripe the birthplace outfits ready for tomorrow. It's gonna rock in section 107.

It is very Unfortunate but unless our QB situation improves overnight we will get blown out. Laviano as every one knows has not gotten it done. Our receives don't separate or get open all together and our best player is out for the year. It's gonna get ugly real ugly and that's just the way it is right now.

I'll say it again:

These kids aren't stupid. They know where we're at as a program right now. Ash and his staff have more than likely "sold' this properly to them and getting beat by 40-points to a top-5 team isn't the end of the world. They're looking for the traits that Ash is selling, a fun atmosphere, and a team that doesn't quit. Yes, keeping it close'ish would be a huge "plus" but I'm sure expectations are tempered.

Well, we pretty obviously can get blown out, but that would suck. IMO, we have a better chance at staying in this game than OSU, but it's still a pretty long shot.

Hopefully the recruits will get a good look at a rocking stadium before the game gets out of hand.

Doesn't really matter. But yea if we are competitive it would go a long way in locking up some recruits that are in the fence.

Rutgers is severely undermanned for this game. Keeping it within 4 touchdowns would be a (moral) victory, but we just don't have the horses to keep up. Injuries on the two deep have depleted us less than 1/2 way through the season. All Ash and company can do is have the team keep fighting.

That is less controllable than the environment at the stadium. We can do our part by maintaining a great atmosphere at the game. These kids know we are going to lose big. If we can create a cool atmosphere they can be sold on what the program will be like when they get here and playing time will be a real option to sitting the bench a few years at Michigan or OSU.

The question I have is WHY do we have 60 recruits invited for a likely blow out loss? Why would you really want to cement that experience into their minds? I don't understand the mentality.

The Iowa game seemed like the prime recruiting game.

these recruits can look at their position on the field and say "I can play immediately ahead of THAT guy". I'm sure ash knows the score might not be pretty. what matters is there's a bigtime atmosphere to show we're capable of having a packed stadium.

Just blame the beat down on former Coach Kyle Flood. It seems work for everything else. If the score is 63-0, just make up some BS about 63 being Floods favorite number. I may even quietly tell the recruits that those kids are Flood kids, you guys will be Ash kids.

Agreed. Was just thinking the same. Hopefully some see the exposure available and early playing time.

many of the top recruits are probably using a Rutgers invite to check out Michigan. Guys like Peppers and Gary would have come to a Rutgers game against Michigan,.

It would be cool if they could show a montage of Hudl video of recruits best plays on the big screen. Get the crowd cheering for the NJ football somehow.

As someone who has witnessed RU getting destroyed (as a recruit), I will say this... I believe the scores were 63-0 and 50-3 (Shea era) or something like that... I didn't leave those games thinking "yes, I definitely want to go here", but I also understood that there was a "rebuilding" process ongoing. So I would say that blowouts obviously don't look good, but they also aren't the end all be all to recruiting.

Well if we do get blown out, coaches get to sell how much we need these guys. Let them know they could be THE player we need to make a change in how we compete. Most, if not all, D1 athletes have the mentality that they want to be the best and what better way to show how good you are then taking a struggling team and becoming the "It" factor. Be the go to, the one the team looks to when they need to rally, someone other players/recruits will look at and go "Man I want to be just like that guy." Yeah everyone loves a winner, but people also love a great under dog story. Sell what we have, and what we could be with these recruits. Football may be a team sport, but these guys are competitors and love to be recognized individually.

We can stop Michigan's offense easier than OSU's. The problem is we will need to score TD's. Now imagine ways the offense could score against Michigan.

Come up with anything?

I can't. Unless they play someone who can throw it down the field, we have no chance of scoring TD's.

10 points for RU:

- 1st Drive, scripted, we get a 40-yard FG. 3 points.
- Defense finally gets a pick-6 after dropping about 5 potential ones so far this season. 7 points.

...unless we decide to get a tad more creative on O, on other words say "WTF," I don't see any sustained drives BUT who knows!

We tried more creative with the fleas flicker whatever play against tOSU, and that went splendidly! But if at first you don't succeed, try try again!

I would like to see another Gio series before Oden or Allen (...). He hasn't been given a chance to throw yet because he scored on his only play. If Oden can get open with his speed and ability to change direction he might be helpful now as a receiver on a few plays.

I will sign up right now for a game similar to Colorado's. Was close for awhile until ultimately Michigan pulled away. Colorado's recruiting classes have actual been below ours the last few years.

We lost already? I'm confused, what am I going to on Saturday if we already got blown out?!

I really hope your prediction is wrong. If not that will mean 14 straight Qtrs. in which the RU offense has only scored 1 TD. That's 3 and one half games. Mind boggling and at the bottom of all college football.
