Rutgers Retains Council to Investigate Football

This is not meant as a knock on Flood but given the fact that the football team drug policy was put in place by Schiano, he probably doesn't even realize the policy is different for the football team than it is for other sports. And, even he did realize it, I thought Schiano could do no wrong? So, why would it even occur to him to change what the great Gregg Schiano put in place?

And regarding the "recruiting ambassador program" thing, this is common practice for all P5 teams. What, exactly, is being investigated?

Seems to me Barchi is scared to death he'll get fired for "lack of control" over athletics so he's trying to cover his butt with these investigations.

If this is being done to fire Flood, wouldn't it be much less expensive to just fire him already than it would be to hire a law firm to do a "complete investigation"?

I quickly skimmed this thread and read the article I haven't seen anything new come up. What's changed. Along as he was following the policy dating back to Schiano, even if considered lenient, what's the problem? Without anything new coming out I don't see why he'd be let go before the end of the season which is the earliest I thought he'd be let go anyway. I also think he'll get some sort of buyout, again unless he's done something very egregious.

Is this a fishing expedition or something and if it was we still haven't seen any fish caught as of yet. If and when it does and depending on the size of the fish I might think different but with what's out now, I'm not sure what's changed with regards to his status.

But the investigation is in regards to issues, or extensions to issues, already known.

Have a hard time believing the team swept Terry Lloyd's drug failures under the rug. He and his lawyer are probably trying to build a case that he has a problem to reduce his punishment. Flood has made a $1 million + over the past couple years, he made $100K+ before that. Way more then I will make in my life time. Let's not be so concerned about his well being.

Here's a wild possibility.

The investigation is occurring because comments made by a former player and issues that came up in the previous investigation have given the President and the AD concern that there may be problems. And so, they have hired a firm to track these issues down.

Maybe they don't have an agenda other than getting at the truth here because they are both doing their job in an intelligent and honorable fashion. And maybe when it's over, they find out that Flood hasn't done anything wrong other than perhaps taking an educational perspective toward drug violation issues.

Maybe it's not too bad. And if not, then KF's future will be decided by what JH thinks the state of the program currently and the potential for improvement is given our financial situation.

Pretty tin hat I know, but not beyond the realm of possibility.
