Rutgers under NCAA investigation...

Gregory was suspended twice at NU for failed tests. The part about not testing him any more has never really been clarified one way or another but stuff like that was one reason Pelini was fired. Note that Pelini's team had 7 players suspended last weekend for failed test. I believe that when an FCS team is in the playoffs the NCAA randomly tests them teams. I'm sure Bo hadn't tested one(Leroy Alexander)of the players who was suspended because he had been suspended for an entire season for failed tests at NU, then kicked off the team for failed tests. He miraculously surfaced at Youngstown St. Hmmmmm:flushed:

You have to remember that he's working under Tressel who did the exact same thing when he was coach at YSU.

Of course Julie was told to come up with the money. She has a $70 million budget. She should be able to find $1 million, or make a stronger case as to why the money should come from somewhere else. Likewise with Pernetti firing Fred Hill without creating the bogus baseball game scandal. The money was there, but giving Hill his full buyout probably meant Pernetti wouldn't qualify for his bonus (the same reason he didn't spend the money to fire Rice).

it was going to be paid by the donors who only wanted to pony up IF the new head coaching candidates had coaching experience which of course eliminated the chances of getting guys like Herman and Narduzzi who were on her short list...and then we go out and hire an assistant anyway for more money than we would have 2 years earlier....the Rutgers way

sorry but the money wasnt in the budget for her through Rutgers...do you forget all Barchi talked about for two years was the stupid subsidy, if Tim and Julie wanted to do something it had to come from donors and RU didnt have enough of them and they came with conditions.

I have to disagree with you here, based on my personal experience in managing my budgets. It's not like they had a $70MM budget and had to find $40MM. They had to find $1MM. That's less than 2%. You don't go to your boss begging for a 2% variance. You find the money in the budget. And if you really have to go hat in hand to ask for the money, you better have an ironclad explanation. Julie and Tim both failed at that. (In Tim's case, I think he chose to fail at that so he could get his bonus based on reducing the budget.)

and... then Julie approved a 2 year extension for Flood.. do explain that one..
.

Too damn funny. We are getting hit for UNC's and Louisville's BS. No show classes for atheletes, and prostitutes and drugs. Curses on you Rutgers, you tried to get one grade changed, and had one conversation in the hallway. You didn't go big!

In all seriousness, I will say that the drug testing stuff is not cool though. Can't have that shifty stuff going on. Everyone else probably does it to, but we are not an NCAA "A-list" property.

to try and do damge control on the recruiting trail after Flood was damaged goods because she couldnt get rid of him..partly her fault, but the recruits were bailing way before rumors of a change being made. The buyout would be paid by Towers so that was a plus and the board generally approved of this move

Damaged goods so give him more money.and extend him after she attempted to fire him? Almost laughable as they both never talked to each other and tried to destroy the others careers at RU.

Flood turned out to be a train wreck, but let's not forget Tim Pernetti's role in all of this. Given the wrong doing in Men's Basketball Pernetti turned a blind eye on, there is no question he looked the other way when inappropriate behavior was taking place in the football program.

And who is the President of Youngstown State? Hmmmmmm. Match made in heaven?

We also owe a debt of gratitude to Julie Hermann. This was on her watch. She left the cat KF running loose in the hen house. They are both culpable, but KF more so.

Already got a snarky e-mail from a friend from UNC of all places.

To be fair Hermann did try to fire Flood in 2013. What passes for big donors at Rutgers and RU admin shut her down. Instead we get two more years of Club Flood and the rest is history.
