Rutgers vs Illinois / Game Thread

Ok, so exactly what did Bolin give us that Gio doesn't? His arm certainly isn't better. Is it just the presence and leadership (remeber he was voted capt'n)?

you can thank whomever made the last stupid mistake for that. Had we still had it near the 35-40 I am sure it would have been a whole different plan.

Turnovers and Penalties keeping this game closer than it should be.
Total lack of discipline and focus

Our lines are playing better than theirs. World of a difference.

And their team speed is the same as ours.

There were 77 seconds and we're at our own 11. With only one timeout left.
And we actually have turned the ball over a couple times and been sloppy. Do we want to risk that deep in our own end? I think risk/reward in that scenario says sit on it and take the lead into the lockerroom.

The running game is working good. If not for the two fumbles Rutgers may have a higher lead.

Very solid enjoyable half to watch...look like a real team for the first time in Ash era...yes Illinois sucks but obviously the switch to Gio was needed and is producing. Need to close it out and clean up those stupid penalties. A win today goes a long way to this team believing it can win next week

It's the smart play your at your 11 for pete's sake. Anything stupid could lead directly to a TD for them. Get into the half and scream at your RB's
It would be one thing if we had a legitimate 2 min drill. (hint, we don't) But right now it's pretty obvious we're a running team, and you ain't gonna run your way into the end zone in 1 1/2 mins from your own 10. Just take a knee save it for the second half.

At the earliest possible opportunity they will be getting the Performer / Professional lecture - Performer can do dazzling things - Professional can dazzle - while taking care of every last detail - like HOLDING ON TO THE BALL!!
