Saturday Tournaments

Oh please. The Monday morning quarterbacking and constant questioning of every coach by our fans that think they always know better than actual college coaches is comical. Poor rostering? Sheesh...........these were not my words so it seems like others get sick of his antics all the time as well ......I guess being a supposed big shot gives you that right ....
🤦🏻‍♂️This was not directed at or responding to koleszar so don't twist things. This was responding to others and directed at the questioning of Ayers managing the Princeton roster and not pulling someone's RS to wrestle Iowa's backup.

You never responded to my response re. the roster management. Genuinely interested in why you think it is that PU has only 23 rostered wrestlers and zero back ups at 125? And, whose responsibility is it to fill the roster? Kayal was listed as a 133lber. 125 is literally the only weight you must have a back up for b/c it is the first weight. Any other weight you can bump someone up to avoid a forfeit. Much harder to certify someone at 125, have them wrestle up and then descend. What if, god forbid, Glory gets hurt? Does Princeton just forfeit the weight the entire time. Princeton has become a top EIWA contender. They should not be forfeiting any weights. I think Ayers has done a great job at Princeton. I grew up in Princeton and trained with a former PU staff over the summers before the program was on the chopping block. So, I have seen the remarkable improvements. That doesn’t mean he is immune from criticism. It’s a legitimate question that I posed to the board with the hope of getting some insight from fellow wrestling fans. I realize there is plenty of bitching on the board. I don’t see how this fits that criteria nor how your initial response was helpful or warranted. RU has some inexperienced wrestlers starting in a few spots but Goodale has been very good about making sure he doesn’t forfeit any weight classes.

WTF do you want me to say? I defended Princeton and Ayers enough. Clearly, there are some issue there with such a small roster, but the fact remains that even if they had 7-10 more, it's unlikely anyone would've wrestled, because you don't pull a RS because the opposing starter ducked. You can stop sticking up for Iowa and Brands ducking. No one is pulling a RS just to have a match.

I’m not sticking up for Iowa. Ayers bowed up on twitter for no good reason. It should have been a non-issue. Lee has a chronic injury (until it is repaired). He was never going to wrestle this match. And, Iowa was clear he was not going to wrestle the match. What, did Princeton think that by bringing Glory they were going to shame Iowa into sending out Lee? If so, that was a bad/poorly conceived decision, especially if Glory has a tough cut. Then not wrestle him after doing the work to cut down? What’s the sound logic here. Only hurts Glory. Plain and simple, Lee is wrestling this year to help
Iowa win a team title (they lose a ton of talent after this year) and try to get his 4th title (not a given with a heathy Suriano, Vito and Glory back). It’s not some slight or offense to Glory. We would and have done the exact same thing with Suriano. A healthy wrestler ducking an opponent sucks. This is not that. Whatever Brands has done in the past isn’t relevant here. The deeper question is why does Princeton have such a small roster that they can’t put a 125lber out for a marquee match-up against Iowa at Carver? And (to repeat myself) why did they make Glory cut the weight, travel to Iowa and then sit him. Very questionable decision making here. I also think it’s a shame Iowa wrestled their back ups in a few cases during the match but their back ups beat Princeton’s starters so hard to call that ducking.

For what it’s worth, we had 30 wrestlers last year and no backup at 184. I’m surprised Princeton doesn’t have one but I guess it’s possible.

Why did pu need the backup. Glory made weight he should’ve wrestled
He didn't make weight. Princeton didn't weigh anyone in at 125 despite numerous people confirming they saw Glory working out/trying to make weight prior to weigh-ins

The most plausible scenario is that Glory tried to make weight and once they realized it wasn't going to happen, they took the opportunity to grandstand a bit about Lee/Brands ducking people so they didn't look bad for not having someone make weight at 125. Willie and Corby talked about it yesterday on the 1st Word and said everyone is in wrong and it's a terrible situation for wrestling as a whole. They heard from numerous people in the arena and based on all the facts that's the most likely situation.

Wasn't Dean Peterson supposed to be Princeton's backup this year at 125?
:)
Glad they don't have one!

No legit back up but we would have sent someone out at the weight rather than forfeit.

Really 125 is so light. And these guys are muscular. Even if they are 5'4 with no body fat its so light.

Got it. I thought the story was that glory broke his ass to make weight then Lee didn’t come out. If not then who did Lee duck? A guy that didn’t make weight😳
