St. Johns had $4 million for NIL

Villanova has top NIL and sucked for 3 years. Calipari spent a fortune and they are just sneaking in as a 11. Texas nil is getting them a Crown Invitation

Stop blaming the fans
Villanova has chosen the wrong players, as did Texas. We lack the resources to get the right players. We’re not even in the game.

Yes, it’s not a great take by him and further solidifies the cultural issues we are up against here.

Everyone wants results but nobody wants to pay for it.

Regardless of what someone can give it’s a mindset and we just don’t have it across the board at Rutgers relative to many of the other successful Division 1 Atheltic programs.
not a great take by Richie?

Rutgers fans and alumns (not all of us here) generally do not financially support the programs. Certainly not to the level of peer schools. I will not debate that. However with the ability to directly pay up to $20 mil, with all the cash coming from the B1G, etc I will also say I totally agree and get his point that is is not about the fans so much. That is the icing on the cake.

I will also continue to complain that Ru does itself no favors with it's lack of creativity to raise those funds. Not linking NIL contributions to priority points, etc. , not pushing revenues for tix or parking towards NIL (which other schools do), etc. THEY have all the cash they need when they can give the OC a $500k raise (+33%) plus all the added positions, etc.

Is it money for players? Coaches? Facilities? (I know , I know. All of the above)

The last thing I will say here is a repeat of my personal situation. I put a 6 figure number in a proposal to Rutgers last June..LAST JUNE! Went nowhere. I revised it down and cut it in half and changed the terms. Re-presented in early January. Going nowhere. Why? Because it is creative outside the box deal and is a pledge for future income to RU and they want it now. I'm about to pull the offer.

We had 2 nba top 5 picks...you people keep ignoring that..what programs had them
You keep ignoring the rest of the supporting cast, which gave us close to Bupkis. Acuff, Dercack, and Martini did not give us much.

We needed 3 quality contributors like what Maryland landed from the portal, who have nicely complemented Queen.

We generally agree and I commend you for whatever you are trying to do.

We need many more people like yourself, and we have that potential with over 500K living alumni.

Rutgers foundation and AD need to continue to do better cultivating and managing relationships with donors, or potential donors - for sure.

But Richie is basically saying that our hope going forward lies with outside people (or entities).

It’s part of the equation but we can’t just sit back and act like our own alums and donors can’t make a big collective difference as well. They do at most of our peer schools.
