I firmly believe that Mike Williams will be in the starting lineup. If Corey starts at the 2G we might not make too many 3's. I think Corey will be at PG and Mike at the 2G. Don't be surprised if Myles Johnson is our starting center. It might not be for the opener but I could see it happen during the season.

No way Mike Williams ISN'T in the starting lineup. He is one of our most valuable players and will play 28-30 mpg.

Also, I don't see Sa starting. He just doesn't have the offensive chops, though admittedly Pike may be forced into starting him due to Doorson's injury rehab. But if Shaq is healthy, I think he starts, though I think the 5 spot will be manned by committee anyway.

1 - Sanders, Mensah
2 - Williams, Baker, occasionally Thiam
3 - Thiam, Omoruyi, Bullock
4 - Freeman, Omoruyi, Sa
5 - Doorson, Sa, Johnson

Hopefully we can add a grad transfer on the wing, as we clearly need another shooter.

This is how I see the minutes being divided:

GUARD (80)
Sanders - 32
Williams - 28
Mensah - 14
Baker - 6

WING (40)
Thiam - 26
Omoruyi - 8
Bullock - 6

BIGS (80)
Freeman - 28
Omoruyi - 10
Doorson - 18
Sa - 18
Johnson - 6

Sanders needs to play PG if he wants to be in the NBA. Expect him to play point with Souf backing him up. Williams will be the 2.

WING (40)

BIGS (80)

Sa - 18
Johnson - 6
If Omoruyi averages 10 minutes a game as a big we will lose well over 20 games. He has to average 3-4 minutes a game there max.

Minutes played much more important than who starts and i think that a lot of the roster will get mucho minutes.

Sanders/Souf
Williams/Baker/Bullock
Thiam/Omoruyi/Bullock
Freeman/Omoruyi
Sa/Doorson/Johnson

Sanders 28-30

Baker - 22-26 (replicating Nigel's minutes)

WING (40)
Thiam - 16-18
Omoruyi - 16-18
TBD-22-24-Final Spot
Bullock - 6 or TBD (depends on his offseason IMO)

BIGS (80)
Freeman - 26-28
Myles Johnson-18-22 (TBD dependent on final spot)
Doorson - 8
Sa - 14-16
TBD-20-22-Final Spot (Grad Transfer??)

The minutes will vary based on matchups and since we are likely to have a shorter rotation in B1G games (likely 9-10 players), a LOT depends on where the final spot goes....I don't think it will be a grad transfer (although it could) but dependent on which way it does go (forward or big or guard), impacts everything.

I bet we'll see a LOT of 3 guard formations this year. Because if his tape is any indication, Souf will be the best true PG on the team. Having someone who can consistently penetrate and dish would be huge.

Sanders
Williams
Mensah
Freeman
Thiam

As the other poster mentioned. Another thing to consider....Is Mike Williams better off the bench? Providing that spark with his rebounding and defense when the opposition is starting to get a little tired. Starting does not mean much....it's who finishes and even last year Mike Williams did not start, but finished a lot of games.

Sanders
Williams
Thiam
Freeman
Doorson

Mensah, Baker, Sa, Omoruyi first 4 off the bench. Johnson will play some, how much depends on how quickly he develops. Bullock will play but not much unless others struggle or get injured.

Need a 6"11' guy who can score for the last spot.

Maybe, the 5th year Grad Transfer that Pikiell brings in (hopefully and he is a shooter) is the last starter. I like the guy from Illinois State.

Gets you at least 4, maybe 5 'ships for the important 2018 class.

Right, because you have seen both of them play, right?
baker's strength is scoring from the SG position. considering our biggest weakness is probably scoring and that we are extremely thin at SG, i think its nothing short of insanity to think that Baker will play that little.

Who fills the last scholarship will impact the minutes played depending on the position.

Start:

Sanders (PG)
Williams (2G)
Thiam (3G/Small F)
Freeman (Power/Stretch 4)
Doorson (Center)

Bench:
Mensah (sub Corey)
Baker (sub Williams/Thiam)
Omuyuri (sub Freeman/Thiam)
Sa (sub Freeman/Doorson)
Johnson (sub Doorson/Freeman)
Bullock (sub Thiam/Freeman)
Dadika (sub Sanders)
Last Spot - ?

I like it but I don't think that Williams comes off the bench this year. He replaces Mensah in your lineup

Souf Mensa is a TRUE pg. Theres no way he'llbe coming off the bench

Now we have no center

Turnover city without a pg

Souf will help Rutgers this year, but I doubt he starts.

Sanders, Williams,Thiam,Freeman, Sa

First off Omoyuri for Thiam, Baker for Williams, then Johnson for Sa.

I want to be hopeful for Doorsons return, but on the second surgery and a high impact sport, hard to predict.

Thiam finished a lot of games this past year. I think the same happens this year coming up.
