Steve Pikiell to visit 2018 G Montez Mathis tomorrow

If Mathis shoots to the top of Kansas's SG must have list, then obviously the odds are slim that RU would win that recruiting battle.....it still comes down to where Mathis is on the list of priorities for KU at SG and whether they would be taking a player ahead of others higher on their list or players they've recruited longer.....a good staff does what Kansas does, which is clearly show interest and determine whether they can land the player, while pursuing their other top targets....if those targets fall through, they can come back to Mathis and likely land him.

RU can likely finish their recruiting class for 2018 tomorrow, but it would not make sense to take a 8th or 9th option at each position on their board, when the other targets are still not declared....there are over 100+ kids with offers for each school and they all overlap with the same players.

Honest question though...Has Rutgers ever beaten Kansas for a recruit?
We need a kid like this badly, but when a program like Kansas starts sniffing around, you can almost predict Rutgers won't land him.

There's really no value-add in your comment... at all. Obviously there are a lot of variables in recruiting. They're two different humans, with different priorities. They obviously will not be recruited or think the same. My point was that we beat Bruce Pearl for Kiss. That is it. Not inferring that it gives us the upper hand in all recruiting battles against Auburn. Thought, we should routinely be able to beat Auburn in recruiting matchups. Better school, basketball conference, location etc.

Funny I thought your comment had no value since you didn't know that a better recruit was taken by Bruce Pearl.

I will lay out in simple terms, since you obviously lack comprehension skills. Your point was that we beat Bruce Pearl for a recruit. We did not beat Bruce Pearl for a recruit. First Bruce Pearl had an incredible class the year prior. Bruce Pearl gave us Kiss because he got a better commitment. He won't do that with Mathis since Mathis is a better player than Kiss. It will be a full out war for Mathis' commitment. Btw I don't mean an actual war.

Good points.....Every year, Kansas is in play for top 10 and top 20 players. They get the best of the best.....like the number 1 player last year in Josh Jackson. Like you said, if they miss they can come back to others.

I would be more concerned about the non elite programs where Mathis would be their top SG priority.

Lacking comprehension skills? You said none of those things in your comment. If you provided this context in your response, then yes, it does actually add value! Congrats!

FWIW - Malik Dunbar is the 47th ranked JUCO - behind guys who have committed to Jacksonville St & right behind a Missouri St commit. Unfortunately, our boy Souf is not even listed (link: http://www.jucorecruiting.com/2017jucotop100). Personally, i'm not too bullish on Kiss, but i'm hoping he proves more valuable than a low end JUCO.

So you lack research skills also. I thought someone that was confident about what he wrote would have known that. That's why I spelled it out for you. Thanks! Lol
