If we all stop clicking on the newspaper links and stop discussing the negative stories ad infinitum on these forums, it would take away at least a small portion of the perceived interest in these topics. It's obvious that the count clicks and monitor these boards. My two cents.

So, should we refuse to discuss any negative story? Why are there so many "Pedd State" threads?

Unfortuantely Flood is the one giving it legs. If he had just said: "I did something stupid but I didn't mean anything by it and I'm ready to take my medicine and everything will be OK" then the newspapers would move on a lot quicker.

Threat the SL like what they are a bunch of paid Trolls

That isn't exclusive to Rutgers. I have fellow Michigan fans that wont stay away from either the Detroit Free Press(Drew Sharp), or the Mike Valenti radio show. Both bash Michigan, and in the case of Sharp, pretty much he dogs everyone in the conference.

IMO it is the lowest form of journalism......a so called shock jock so to speak. Piss the fan base off, and watch the ratings soar. Sadly, some people are stupid enough to go along.

Good luck on the coming season.

Haven't posted anything about it. The same posters keep on posting 10-30 times thinking about every possibility. The SL writers must be getting a good laugh about our reaction. So many threads and so many post.

I cancelled my SL subscription in 2008. Now, I stop going to nj.com. Haven't gone for the past day and plan on keeping it going. They may not care, but they can't count my 'clicks' anymore. No one's talking about not discussing the issues. Thing is, when I discuss the issues, I like to do so in intelligent fashion, not tabloid National Inquirer-type fashion.

I did the same and will not be clicking on the site.

For those of you that follow NJ HS football, I recommend www.gridironnewjersey.com; they typically do a great job with statewide results, standings and discussion...For those of you who think, "what can I do? I'm just one person", remember (or if you don't know it yet, Google it) the 'starfish parable':

"ONE DAY, AN OLD MAN WAS WALKING ALONG A BEACH THAT WAS LITTERED WITH THOUSANDS OF STARFISH THAT HAD BEEN WASHED ASHORE BY THE HIGH TIDE. AS HE WALKED HE CAME UPON A YOUNG BOY WHO WAS EAGERLY THROWING THE STARFISH BACK INTO THE OCEAN, ONE BY ONE.PUZZLED, THE MAN LOOKED AT THE BOY AND ASKED WHAT HE WAS DOING. WITHOUT LOOKING UP FROM HIS TASK, THE BOY SIMPLY REPLIED, "I'M SAVING THESE STARFISH, SIR".THE OLD MAN CHUCKLED ALOUD, "SON, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF STARFISH AND ONLY ONE OF YOU. WHAT DIFFERENCE CAN YOU MAKE?"THE BOY PICKED UP A STARFISH, GENTLY TOSSED IT INTO THE WATER AND TURNING TO THE MAN, SAID, "I MADE A DIFFERENCE TO THAT ONE!" (quoted from http://site.starfish-project.com/the-parable/)

I also spoke with my Father-in-law, who still gets the SL. He told me that he actually hasn't been billed for it in "years" and told him if he ever does get billed, I would pay for a subscription for whatever other newspaper he wants. He told me, "the paper has become terrible. They used to have real reporters, Izenberg, Luicci, now you get little blurbs on things and a bunch of stuff that's all hype." He also said if he ever gets billed, he's not 'renewing'. I will tell everyone in my 'circle' my thoughts on this as well.
