Thamel tweet - Hurley / Lonergan top targets

One question on Lonergan, he has recruited foreign students very well to a school with high academic standards. Students are drawn there, by the unique nature of GW as an "international School" in DC. Also the team has underperformed expectations the las two years given the talent laden roster.

Just curious to hear the supporting side. I have followed GW quite closely, one of my kids graduated from there.
A great fit for Rutgers and the B10

The. Big question with longeran is recruiting and recruiting in this Area

He may need time to develop relationships in this area...

Assistants critical here

But I love his X's and O's

Is anyone else a little worried that Hurley may be playing us for a bigger deal from URI ? In the past I would bet on it. But Hobbs gives me reason to think that we will end up with the best available candidate who will accept the job. And that may not be our first choice.

You never know where stuff is in the process. We may have already spoken with Lonergan and it didn't work out. We may be speaking to Sendek and his agent isn't saying anything.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that Hurley's agent has been the "source" for all the info we've heard so far, especially from the bloggers. Sounds like he's been orchestrating a campaign. We haven't heard nearly as much about any other candidate. Why would the insiders be leaking primarily about one guy?
You could be right and Lonergan has the same agent, that's why both of their names are coming up a lot .
Hobbs kept the FB search below the radar far more than this search and it's surprising to me that keeping that search so low profile was successful.
Which makes me wonder if Hurley and Lonergan's agent is keeping the media informed since he represents Ash to and kept the FB negotiations private.

Worried? Not at all. Screw him if he does that. Not all that excited about him anyway, but I am on board if that is who Rutgers hires.

these things happen, thats the nature of the business, RU is so unattractive that they arent in a position of power with any of these candidates even the lowest ones

If they both turn us down what about the Bonnie coach? Win at Bonaventure which is not easy job.

Lonergan is a no brainer for RU - however would seem low likelihood to hold interest for him. While his salary is not published - estimates have it at approx. $1.5M-$1.8M per year - he is also from DC/MD area and has kids in school there now. Don't see the attraction for him to leave GW at all much less for a rebuild job. Hope I am wrong.

Also - found this interesting article on him being kicked out of his daughter's JV game this year - not quite Mike Rice style - but funny story -
