The AAC Flop

So where did I say it was an invalid thread? Seems we got a long way to go to shed "small ball" when we are playing with the big boys now.

Oh and by the way I just checked all premium sites of the B1G (curious)
Only Maryland had a thread about the "aac" Titled "Marshall beating UConn in Bowl game".
The B1G could care less about the aac!
bout time we joined them!

Bet Maryland had a few threads about the ACC, and Nebraska probably had some threads about the Big 12 a few years ago after moving. The reality is that we have some history with the AAC and will probably keep an eye on their progress. It's normal. Eventually, we'll see fewer of these threads, as that tie will become insignificant. In Maryland's & Nebraska's situation, it's ok to discuss their past ties since they came from a rival P5 conference, but it boggles the mind how we landed the golden ticket coming from the AAC. Discussing the AAC is a bit of "But for the grace of God, there go I" and being grateful we're not in Temple/UConn/Cincy/etc shoes.

I cringed when I saw some RU fans rooting for Temple earlier this year...fact is RU is in the big time now. RU interests lie with the Power 5 and strengthening their power and weakening any midmajor. Going to take time for our fanbase to shake the small time root for the little guy thinking. Any success that the AAC may have threatens the Power 5 stranglehold which we want to keep. Same goes for basketball too.

The AAC East has UConn, Temple, Cincy, USF, UCF, and ECU. We recruit against those schools for our 2 and 3 star athletes, why wouldn't we pay attention to their results in bowl games. I am sorry, but just because we are in the B1G doesn't mean we automatically win every recruiting battle with the AAC East teams. When they fail it doesn't hurt our recruiting. Those who thought that just by joining the B1G our recruiting would drastically improve and we would automatically be elevated above those schools have been proven wrong. By the way, ask Purdue and Illinois if B1G membership alone guarantees you anything in football.

Remember guys ....we are sitting home with no bowl game watching them.
That's what I am saying above really. If we were still in the AAC we go bowling every year. But never any good bowls the revenue that will come in from the BIG will make this painful season (and possible future painful seasons) worthwhile. If we have a decent year in the BIG we play a team like Georgia in our bowl game (see PSU this year). PSU was not great this year. They lost to Temple. Yet they are playing Georgia in their bowl game. Think about that.

Fans need to ask themselves if they would rather be U Conn, Temple or RU right now? If you choose the first two then BIG sports are not for you.

This is a message board to talk about COLLEGE FOOTBALL, Lo-Bro, Star Wars, boonies, and pretty much whatever you'd like while adhering to a specific set of regulations. I have followed pretty much strictly to the "code" and general "way" of these boards:

This is BOWL season.

- This is a thread about a conference and its failure, thus far, in BOWL season.

- There is NOTHING FACTUALLY INCORRECT in my comments.

- if there is another conference that began BOWL season 0-4 I'll gladly start a thread about their shitty showing as well. Let me go back and check.

Move along if you don't like the thread fellas. Pretty simple. Geeze.

So what's the connection between the consumption of lo-bro and a conference's bowl season record?

You will see a houston thread on the tOSU board when they play, but only becuase we are all rooting for Herman, we don;t give a shit about the big east or ACA or whatever they are now.

The only factually incorrect comment was saying you knew we would suck this year. Maybe you wanted us to suck because you hate Flood so much but saying you knew we would suck means you knew we would lose our secondary, our best Defensive player and our best Offensive player for most of the year. The fact is we were pretty good with Carroo at 100% and not having Hamilton or the others I no longer care to speak of. Nobody knows how this team would have done with all of those players returning. Factually speaking but not in caps. LOL.

I predicted us to be 4-8 (mainly due to the losses we incurred on offense, starter-wise, between 2014 and 2015). Fact. Sorry

Because you hated Flood and wanted him gone. Fact and no need to apologize. I don't care that you hated the guy and am happy you stopped slamming him recently and are looking ahead as am I.

No way anyone could predict all of the mishaps and injuries before the season and if they did not happen we were likely 6-6 and IIRC that was pretty much the median on this board.

Don't understand why anyone would seriously go after a mid major. Its one thing to have fun and talk smack, but not really go after them. They coach hard, play hard.... Their fan bases, big or small, show up and appreciate their efforts.

There should only be seriously disparaging on Cuse and UCONN. They could bankrupt for all I care.

No, I predicted 4-8 for some VERY obvious reason which I will repeat one last time:

- we went 5-1 in "swing games" in 2014
- the reason(s) we did as much, for the most part, graduated
- we lost pretty much the entire "gut" of an offense and it was incredibly experienced. IIRC over 220 starts, combined, between Nova, Burton, Kroft, and the 3 OL.

...so, based on the schedule, HOW we got to 7-5 in 2014, and what we lost, it was relatively easy to predict a 4-8 or 5-7 record for 2015.

Now please let's, as you like to say, move on!

Already moved on but I must impose some more commentary, Like you I was more worried about our Offense coming in to this season but they did do enough to win 7 games. Scoring 28 on MSU was way better than any of us could have asked for. They did their job against WSU and MD. The D fell down at the end of those 3 games. The D on the field was not what I expected going into the season. They were young and many had to play injured. Who knows what we do with Hamilton and those other guys.

Anyway, you get what you deserve and I cannot say we deserved any better than 4-8 with all of the off the field crap. Karma is a boomerang and let's hope it turns again for the good kids who are still in the program and working hard every day.

There's part of an old jingle that sums up the AAC's bowl season:

"Plop, plop, fizz fizz...."

....and they don't even play a tough slate. 1-6 now in a couple of minutes and LUCKY that Houston gets FSU without Golson IMHO>

...good points except for WSU- offense scored 20 points and played subpar that day. Grant made that a game.

1-6 for the AAC so far and probably 1-7 overall if Houston loses. It was never this bad in previous years. Maybe not getting Memphis' HC is a good thing and well as Temple 's HC.

Yeah it doesn't look good but Memphis isn't SEC material...and I'm certainly not gonna judge a coach on one game. I would have taken both coaches in a heartbeat

FYI the AAC and ACC are currently a combined 3-10 in games played with the following teams left:

AAC - Houston, Peach vs FSU
ACC - FSU, Peach vs Houston; Louisville, Music City vs TAMU, Clemson, Orange vs OU

Special teams (namely, Janarion Grant) did their job against WSU this past season. The offense did not do score those 14 points. Against Maryland, I agree that they did.

J. Fuente didn't coach Memphis.
