The JaMichael Davis Era has begun

Griffiths is basically the only real 3 on the roster. Everything about him screams 3 and he has 0 competition with Paul gone. He probably can play some 2 or 4, but 3 makes the most sense
What is the difference between 2 and 3 in Pikes system?
We don’t have a 2 either

So maybe he stays around 4 years and grad transfers on you in June of his extra year? Redshirts will be a thing of the past Beginning now.
So, are you saying don't redshirt a player who #12/13 on the roster just because it prevents him from graduating and transferring in his 5th year ?

It’s not that you’re trying to prevent them from transferring in their 5th year. It’s that smart money says they will use that grad transfer value and bolt. You’re better off getting any value you can…while you can, than thinking you will benefit from the time you invested in that kid in their 5th year. Some other program likely will.

So might as well take a few minutes here or there and have them a little more ready for there sophomore / junior season if you’re lucky enough to keep them for those years.

Interesting observation from the highlights on both Jamichael and Dortch neither one of them is shy about taking the ball to the hole and taking the contact that goes with going to the rim. Nice to see that there is a toughness that already exists. Admittedly its high school and not the big 10, but the attitude and toughness already exists.

I really like the way Davis attacks off the dribble and finishes in a variety of ways with both hands especially being a smaller guard

When you watch Davis’ highlights, it feels like he’s going at 100 mph but still under control. He looks like he’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.
Oh yeah, our 4x100m relay team from 2023 would dust the 2022 team.
Simpson would be on both, so he can just sit it out
Noah, JaMichael and Griffiths vs Paul, Cam and Caleb
I'm excited to watch a whole new level of tempo with multiple guys capable of pushing the pace.

Cannot freaking wait to see us push the tempo. The fans are going to love it. Cliff should get multiple transition buckets a game. He can beat his man down the court regularly. Our slow paced offense really limited what he could do. Cliff should thrive in an up tempo offense and suck defenders towards him leading to Griffiths 3's on secondary type breaks

Yup and mismatches all over the place when Cliff bears the other teams big down the court

Ace shared this, he’s excited for him too. Not sure if linking stories works here

Anybody that is any good can compete and play out of the gate as a frosh. The game has changed these kids between HS & AAU are playing a 80-100 games a year minimum. In AAU against top comp.. DS could have and should have played alot more minutes out of the gate but Pike showing loyalty to his guys that showed loyalty to him and changing trajectory of RU hoops

There were only a handful of guys that helped change the program

Baker, RHJ, Myles, Mac, PM, CO & J Young. Everyone else has been a role player or a miss. Without these dudes above we'd be screwed.
They carried us.

We are entering a new age. The DS, JM, GG, AB etc where these dudes can and will play at a high level from the jump

We are heading to a different era our 1 thru 5 will be able to pound the Rock. There will be little difference between a 1 thru 4 dribbling & shooting they will all be able to do it. Our 5 after Cliff will be able to do so as well.

Sherrod was legit. Elite athlete who was explosive in the open court and off the dribble. He wasn't so effective once opponents quickly discovered that he was a bad shooter.
I was a fan of Mike for his effort, handle and d, but he couldn't shoot (20% from 3, 37% overall) and couldn't facilitate/pass either. Averaged barely more than 3 assists a game and turned it over 2x a game.

Simpson was pretty bad most of the season. He couldn't and shouldn't have been playing major minutes earlier in the season. He wasn't ready. He wasn't good at all when Paul missed a couple games early in the season and the team really struggled

People are retroactively pretending Simpson would have played as well as he did the end of the season for the entire season and ignoring how much he struggled prior to that
