This is a completely different team

I'm optimistic about this team. It will perform better than last year.

But don't kid yourself, it's a tough row to hoe. As soon as we have a blowout or unexpected loss the naysayers will come out of the woodwork == with a vengeance.

Stay positive, enjoy the good and when the bad shows up don't get too down and believe that the coaching staff can correct it. Things won't go up in a straight line.

Definitely a tough row to hoe. I'm also optimistic about this team... but I know we're going to have our handful of blowouts where we look completely outclassed on the court. I don't expect to see another 50 point drubbing, but there will definitely be some 20+ point losses where our opponent will be working some minutes for guys further down the bench.

And that's okay. We're in a very strong conference with teams that have outrecruited us for ages. That's not suddenly going to turn around overnight.

Spot on. Still, I do not think we see that many blowouts this year. We shall see. When I look at our guards and a little bit of 2 man depth at off guard, I see a team that will run a little. That will keep teams honest. Our depth is not that experienced, but they will be able to come in and run as well.

We will see! I cannot wait.

There are some very good teams in the Big Ten... and road environments are tough, so I'd imagine we'll see our share.

By my count, in conference games, there were 30 games that were won by 20+ points. Of those 30, we were on the receiving end of 11... while Minnesota, Illinois and PA St were on the receiving end of 5 each.

There were 11 games won by 30+ points, and we were on the receiving end of 4 of them.

If we could get those numbers down to just 5-6 losses by 20+, with just 1 by 30+, that'd be a step forward.

Jordan set records on blowouts during his tenure, the numbers were ridiculously ugly, thats going to get better this year..we still may have a couple ugly ones but the days of expecting 30 point losses each night are over
