Tournament Thoughts/ Observations

That second half was a thing of beauty by Stanford and they seem to be having so much fun too! Great team chemistry especially given what they’ve been through this season being nomads. I am really rooting for them to win it all.

Really wanted UCONN to play Stanford and then if they won South Carolina. Do not like how it turned out.

What a game!!! Hats off to Vic Schafer. I'm starting to think he may be the best coach out there right now.
Did you see the game tonight? Dawn Staley kicked his team
I have loved watching Arella during her time at RU. That being said I don’t feel she has the speed of movement to make it in the pros. Hope I am dead wrong and will gladly eat large crow.
Arella will be just fine in the WNBA, hopefully she gets to play for the Liberty @ Barclay Center in Brooklyn(I was born and raised near by). Would also love to see her and Benijah Laney both CVS/Rutgers products!

Hope you are dead wrong, and I'll cook some crow for ya.

Yes she did, as I hoped she would. I've always been a D.Staley fan back to player days. She has a much more talented roster than Vic inherited.
That Texas team overachieved this year, for sure. You just wait til Vic gets a couple of recruiting classes under his belt at Texas. Heck, next year they'll be a monster, I'm sure, after he goes shopping in this transfer season.

Another example of just what you said earlier. The fun and team chemistry they play with is notable.

And they didn't forget about Haley Jones on offense tonight.
She is the truth! She could easily be a POY winner before she's done.

Wow! Has it been four straight loses for UConn in the semis? Sounded like Ryan Ruocco just said that.

Yes. Surprising, isn't it?

And we all love Adia.

I have absolutely no "hidden agenda" in stating that she has a style I love - very, very positive, without the "rah rah" coaching (like Brenda Frese or Carolyn Peck) that I just can't stand, successful or not. She considers herself a player's coach, and I really think she is. And having a defensive guru for a husband doesn't hurt.

Hats off to Barnes and Arizona!! Impressive even in defeat, to be able to go toe-to-toe with these loaded giants. One other strong offensive player away from being National Champions.

On the other side,.........
Haley Jones!! and crazy depth!

A great final four for the women's game this year, despite all of the off-court issues. What happened on the court was "must-see TV," beginning with UConn going down by 10 to the UofA on Friday. That was followed by an exciting finish with Stanford defeating USCe by one, and then today's heart-stopping finish for another one point Stanford win.

I thought it was great for Tara to win the NC in the same year she set the all-time record for wins, women or men (I think no men's team coach has won more than she).
I'm wondering how old she is and whether or not it might be good to retire, going out on top.

Got to know and love Adia in this tournament, but Tara's defensive game plan was a thing of beauty. I don't think that MacDonald made one basket from "Aari's House" on the left side of the paint.

Tara has it going right now with a young core and lots of depth. Recruit a couple of strong guards and they will be in the mix to reach the Final Four in the next 3 years, at least. If she feels good, keep going. Maybe she adds another title or two.

She is the same age as Geno - 67. Only 3 major program coaches are over 67 - Doug Bruno is 70, Gary Blair 75 and Viv between them.

There's talk on the RebKell boards that Kate Paye, Stanford's coach in waiting, is getting pursued by Washington as a HC. I would not be shocked if Tara retires especially since she has other interests outside of basketball. Her heir apparent is also the top recruiter and she would be leaving the program in good hands with a full cupboard, unlike Muffet, who left ND in a rebuild situation after the recent final 4 / championship run.

Very unlikely that Tara retires. She has already spoken about it, at least in passing. A lot of talent coming in.

I like Adia but she blew it on that final play. Even her baby knew Tara would double and triple McDonald on that last play. She should have set up a double or triple screen for McDonald or used someone else for the last shot
