We got blown out by 22 points by the 2nd worse team in the B1G

If you ever have an hour to kill, goggle Eddie Jordan and Sixers. The articles are just brutal.

As an example, here is a philly sports writer from tonight

@NJHoopsHaven @HarrisonMalkin Can't believe an Eddie Jordan-coached team is 6-22!

Two walk-ons played and you are surprised we lost by 20? Bigger problem is Foreman missed at least 4 layups last night.

If EJ wins a game against a team with 6 scholarship players the same guys would say who can't beat a team with 6 scholarship players.

Michigan used multiple walk-one to beat Rutgers at the RAC last season. But we are only allowed to talk about this year because some how-poof, magic-it's year one.

Not just the walk-ons Grier guarded King who was 3 inches shorter last night. Rutgers Yay I am sure did not notice that.

Tough to win in any league when your two tallest players are 6'8 and 6'6.

Has been a rough season but come on when your top four front-court players are out what do you expect?

Guys .. forget the height, scholarship players, and anything else like that. The games are unwatchable for even the biggest RU bball fans. For a long stretch in the second half we looked like a middle school rec team - the ball bouncing off guys hands several times, air balls, tons of missed layups (badly some of them), while Minnesota was dunking all over us on the other end.

Some of the players I love and want to war with, but this was the second worst team in the B1G (also winless until a week ago) and we're a mile away. Can't wait to get Corey back. This team's goal has to be to STOP THE STREAK this year.

I love Eddie for his heroics during 1976 and his willingness to take this job, but he needs to go. It truly pains me to say it. It is time for RU to pony up the money to turn this around.

2nd paragraph from the scoremobile app recap on the game (talking about Minnesota):

"The prevailing feeling in the locker room was one of relief, because nobody wants to be the first Big Ten team to lose to Rutgers."

Bigger than what? I'd describe it, instead, as an example of the bigger problem.
I think the fact that Laurent didn't score a point in the first half is the most telling stat on a team that is desperate for players that can put the ball in the basket .

The program is so buried in the dumpster. It used to be that we would all be pissed and upset at a 13 win season. That's what got Waters fired. We're now at the point where a 13 win season would result in the optimists singing in the rain. The expectations are so incredibly low. There is no semblance of a plan. No recruiting area we're focused on, no connections, no relationship building, no system or identity. EJ has been low energy and without a clear vision from the start. He just wants to coach basketball and not deal with all the other crap you have to do to build a D1 program. That's not okay when you are making $1.25m.

Some of you guys need to give it a rest already. We had 6 scholarship players and just like in several other games after a competitive first half we had a 15 minute break and the second half we were gassed. We had no legs and our energy got drained. I think we can beat Minnesota at home with Corey back if we play team ball. If we have Diallo and Lewis in that game we could actually have 9 scholarship players on senior day. At least guys could get some rest for several minutes in each half.

How many scholarship players did Mike Rice have in his first year?

did he bring in Poole and Biruta who honored his commit but that team he was left with was pretty bad on paper. Only Mitchell who had just a so so junior year and an erratic Miller. Rice then brought in 6 freshmen in the next year and people bitched that they didn't win right away, that goes to show you how low expectations have dropped now.

Mike Rice's first year was 2010-11. He had James Beatty, Gil Biruta, Austin Carroll, Mike Coburn, Austin Johnson, Robert Lumpkins, Dane Miller, Jonatan Mitchell, Mike Poole and Mike Kuhn I believe was put on scholarship for his last year which gave us 10 scholarship players.

8 assist (Minn had 18), 20 turnovers...most by the scholarship players, and another 50% foul line night missing like 10 shots.

BAD SELFISH BASKETBALL. Lack of focus and lack of fundamentals. (equals coaching)

The walk-ons play smarter.

You forgot about how we are killing it on the recruiting trail. That is going to save us.

He wants to coach offense

six players will not get it done, do some of you realize how tired these kids must be? And won't matter because I think Eddie will be gone.

6 players won't get it done. That's why I put no stock in these games.

However, the injuries aren't occurring in a vacuum. There are other things to consider when pondering Eddie's effectiveness.

1)Recruiting
2)On court play- is there a real system, are the players seemingly coached well
3)Effort
4) Management of players
5) Fundraising

I would give him the following grades:
1) C-. He has a couple of pieces, but I don't see them collectively moving needles.
2) D. This might be generous. I see no system that the kids play to.
3) B+. The players seem to try for the most part. That is good.
4) D. Two of his best players have been in trouble. That isn't a good sign.
5) Incomplete. I don't know so can't speak to his ability to participate in fundraising, but at a school like RU, that is a must to be a part of.

Is this for this year or for the three years. If so, the 61 point loss definitely takes down your B+

All of our player get hurt.

So in 2016 we get one kid who missed more than a year with a gun shot wound and another who's 6-10, 190 and 4 man in the Big Ten.

Roster management Eddie style

That's how far behind we are. Hobbs, you are our only hope!

Dude they beat us, Minnesota had been playing better and better each game and nearly beat Iowa as well.

I hope you guys are better than PSU, but i don't think I could take losing to Rutgers as long as you play in that building designed by Stalin.

You and Rutgers25 are spot on and provide some helpful perspective.

Not sure if you recall, but you and I used to argue about Rice, with you preaching patience (obviously before the scandal, which neither of us could have factored into the discussion at the time). Now we have a coach who makes pre-scandal Rice look like John Wooden, but the pro-Eddie crowd on this board demonizes you for having an agenda for wanting to see a coaching change and you have been labelled an enemy of the program.

haha yes that's true. I was a big supporter of Rice and Waters...Bannon I was back and forth on. I disliked Hill and Jordan from the get go. I thought they were atrocious hires. Ditto for Elmer Fudd, never should have been hired. I love the Ash hire.

So its not about me being negative about everything. That's false. I support who I believe in and don't support who I don't. I feel some here just blindly support whoever is the coach and that's fine but then don't cry that the board is negative when the team has lost 41 of 46.

We've been on different side of things - I was never a huge Julie supporter. But we agreed on Jordan from day 1 - bad hire.

The proper hire back then was Ben Howland - you could see this Jordan disaster coming from the get go. Things were such as disaster because of the Rice/Pernetti meltdown. If it had been clear that are choices were Hurley for 7 years or Jordan for 5, I would have been screaming for Danny.

I always maintained that the Flood hire was not great, but was understandable. But the killer was not firing him in 2013 and hiring Narduzzi. That was the move that was needed but could not be executed.

Hopefully we get to restart things here again in two weeks. We are more prepared for success (maybe not huge) then we have been for a while given Hobbs and the facility that's coming
