CMIIW but I don't think we've had MM in quite some time. Why is this? Wouldn't it create some excitement among the fan base and student body going into the season ?

We struggle to get a couple thousand Rutgers fans to the games... I hate to say it, but there would be 200 people in the building and that includes the band, cheerleaders, team and janitorial staff.
If a new HC brought some excitement, I'd show up for MM again. You'd probably get a decent number of fans and students too with the curiosity factor.

I think Rice only had MM once or twice, at the barn. I don't think FHJ had MM.
Midnight Madness is such an easy PR move - have it in the Barn if you think no one will come.....and if you need to entice fans then have some extra giveaways that you publicize. Sorry not to have it is just lazy IMO.
Mike Rice coached 3 years and had MM at least 2 of the years as I was first at the door to get in two consecutive years at the Barn. In fact Mike came out and greeted all of us in line who were there long before the doors opened. The T-shirts were given out each night after MM by presenting a voucher that we received upon entering the Barn at the end of the festivities. The shirts were given outside the Barn in front of the building.
