I know what BE Phil and others are mentioning and it's beyond a long shot in my opinion but I have not or would not post something that doesn't have a better than 25% chance to happen. I have reviewed the possibility and it would be ultra-creative but on the surface it makes sense from both sides in my opinion. I just can't see where it can be put together, but the positive aspect is this rumbling was from a couple of people I talk to and goes back more than a couple of weeks from people beyond RU.

I would focus on what is most likely to happen...I don't see RU paying more for a basketball coach than what we have paid for Ash.....but if anything else changes, I'm sure it would bubble up a little more.

But the situation is totally different than in football. The facilities in football were at par with at least the middle of the pack in the B1G....We have had very recent success...there are positives to bring top level recruits to our football program...In basketball there is nothing. And when I mean nothing I really mean nothing. Noone is coming to Rutgers, if they come its because they want to play for the coach. That means you are going to have to really, really overpay for someone with enough clout to do that. So in my opinion the basketball coach needs to make more than the football coach, probably by alot. If you don't expect to have another thread just like this one in three years after we end up losing just as many games as with Jordan.

Also, just my opinion, but given what Hobbs has done to date - with Flood and EJ - it's rather apparent - at least to me - that he has "carte blanche" to do what is right and best for RU Athletics with Long Term Objectives in mind - and thus with the candidate who I think is a big time stretch - who knows given Hobbs' support with Barchi; Christie and Trenton.......and Big 10 Revenue Stream down the road....

Just a nit but Hobbs didn't do anything with Flood. Barchi axed he and Julie together. Hobbs wasn't on board yet.
