theyre outrecruiting us, outplaying us, and a better program at this point. How can they outrecruit us? Their facilities are also lacking and they play off campus where they literally have to cover up the upper section so it doesnt look completely empty.

In my opinion it comes down to coach. I'm sorry it hasnt worked out but eddies gotta go.

SHU is an average program right now, no more, no less.....RU has declined significantly on the coaching level since Rice left, but there is comparable talent between the programs, despite the last 2 years worth of results between SHU and RU.....Big East going to get exposed again, already starting today with Wichita State handling Seton Hall and UVA taking care of Nova.

Handling???? Are we watching the same game? Fox 5 right?

Rice all but lynched himself...he is a POS who took RU into the worst national coverage of BBall dysfunction

and Wichita and SHU are tied 67/67 with 5 min to go

Comparable talent? I don't think anyone other than Sanders and Freeman would see any time in Seton Hall's rotation.

Because they have recruited athletic players who can shoot while Eddie has recruited MAAC level players...Willard is just an average coach but by ccomparison to Jordan he is Tom Izzo

Comparable talent? What the hell are you watching Hawk. Sorry man, you're a great poster, but Seton Hall has way more talent than us. They can actually take a punch or two from an opponent.

They did not have a scandal that hit national TV news, every blog, every online sports site, even sites like Huffington Post, a program lampooned on SNL, had Kobe Bryant saying in a TV interview that "he would never send his son to play for Rutgers".

Those things are a HUGE boost to recruiting. No other program offers those type of advantages. Every 9th grader at the time saw all that great national press and said "I want to be part of that program"

I would be surprised if every good player DOES NOT have Rutgers in their top 5. Add in the world class facilities, like that state of the art practice facility on the Livingston campus and Rutgers should be in every players top 3.

BUT......all that is a BIG boost to recruiting. Can you imagine how many hundreds of high school players saw that and immediately said, "I want to go to Rutgers". Opposing coaches could not use it as a negative recruiting tool because Rutgers was all over the National Media....no other program offers that type of positive media attention.

AND....the President of the United States even commented on it.....That type of attention is priceless !!!

Obama talking about it isn't something to brag about

anyhow Baylor had one player murder another one and they did just fine

SHU has always recruited better players than RU ever since the BE was formed

Facilities are not an excuse. Rutgers looks and plays like doo doo

That's coaching. Not Mike Rice. Not ESPN. Not facilities. Not NJ Media. Not NJ coaches. Not the Hurleys.

It's the coaching staff plain and simple

An isolated incident between two players is horrible.....BUT, a coach being behind the events at Rutgers hints at it being something within the program itself, especially when you factor in Eric Murdoch and the AD knowing about it not doing anything....Big difference. The program was Toxic.

Does anyone truly think this program will improve under eddie?

Who cares. We need to worry about ourselves. The constant grass is greener thinking is worthless

So mike rice made a quicker recovery than Rutgers.

Guess Rutgers can't get a second chance because Choppin thinks all scandals last forever and eating shit sandwiches is better than not eating at all.

Facilities at Seton Hall? How about the mess Gonzo left?

We are a No. 1 seed in excuse-making

SHU has a brand new and beautiful mens locker room, academic center, weight room (good as virtually any FB weight room but obviously smaller) and athletic training room. These facilities are as good or better than 80% of FB5 schools. SHU has had practice facility for more than 20 years. Our basketball budget is bigger than RU's and I understand that we charter much more often than RU.

RU's on campus arena is a big advantage but the Rock is fine.

Virtually every SHU game is on national tv, including 3 on FOX National broadcasts.

yea, Rice is a interim HS coach with Constant Monitoring from the sideline to keep an eye on him. That's also a Rice legacy at Rutgers......constant monitoring of basketball practices by school/Admin officials.....Thank you, Mike Rice.

Give me list of negative recruiting items used against Rutgers by opposing coaches.

I could but it has nothing to do with how bad coaching is.

Willard knew he either needed to get better players or he was on his way out so he went the Tiny Morton route and appears to have survived the turmoil it created. They still are unlikely to reach the heights expected after that recruiting class two years ago but they are light years ahead of us with regard to talent.

You are so lost. But I get it. Say common sense long enough and you'll believe you have it

I gave you an opportunity to discuss a real issue and just like I knew you would....u declined because you don“t want to discuss these things realistically.

You also have the option to discuss basketball tactics in the other thread I started. Lets see if you have the chops to talk basketball or are you limited to posting negative comments.

are you a member of the Hurley clan pushing his agenda for a 7 year Contract.

the fact is you keep arguing but you have not said anything in defense of why keeping Jordan is important. You have even said he is a stopgap measure so whats the problem here. You are totally right, this place was a dumpster fire when Eddie came in and that's why after his 3 years he needs to go. He is not the guy with the energy nor the recruiting connections to rebuild this mess. So its time to give someone else a shot, letting him coach another year does nothing but delay the process

The Big East will be exposed? Half the league is in the top 50 in RPI, and that's with Georgetown a mess, Creighton down and DePaul still fielding a team.

There are people here that seemed to think that just getting a Big Ten invite meant we could sit back and watch us pass everybody else. Sorry, but people see us as what we are -- a basketball program that has been a dunghill for as long as recruits can remember. People see "Rutgers" before they see "Big Ten."

And yes, basketball players just might like playing for schools where basketball is the biggest thing on campus.
