Why the love affair with Danny Hurley?

Rutgers fans throw parades for losing in 3OT but can't give credit to a guy who wins at Dayton.
I've seen it all.
Sendek's too old.
Hurley's too entitled.
Masiello too MAAC
Maybe we should hire someone from the 1991 Rutgers team!
Never gave Eddie a parade after any loss, nor felt one was needed for any of RU's HCs after a loss.
But did and still will praise players for the games they had, even if that game resulted in a loss.
Try another tactic when someone isn't hooked on hiring Danny.
I'm not trying to make him look incompetent, just don't think he's what RU needs and pointing that out while others posts are praising him and stating he's their choice..
Try to accept some fans feel Danny's not the answer, I accept there are good RU MBB fans that think he is and we both have a right to our POV and posting it whenever we please.
We will never lure a big name coach now. No matter who we pick, it is a crap shoot. We just need to hire the coach w the best odds.

My issue with the anti-Hurley guys is they don't name any alternatives
Argument isnt neccesarily Hurley over Sendek but some are suggesting we keep Jordan another year over Hurley. That's absurd.
I'm not expecting Hurley to become the next coach. I think Sendek is the most realistic target considering he's out of work and the competition for him is UNLV and potentially Memphis and Illinois should they open up.

Amaker won't leave Harvard for reasons discussed here recently including NJHawks thread
Dunphy is a Philly lifer and wouldn't leave Temple for Rutgers.
Yes to Loneran and Sendek. Fully on board with both guys.
But if they all pass, what next? Hurley may decline too leaving us with Will Brown at Albany.
And to be clear, Danny has 100 wins. People don't include his first two seasons at Wagner, I guess to prove a point. His record is 100-84.

Since his name has been mentioned before as a possible candidate: Seth Greenberg is also over .500.
Sendek and Lonergan look good to me. I still don't understand why people want a guy with no P5 experience, an OK record overall, and barely .500 in his current job. If his name was Gurley instead of Hurley, would you still want him?
Since we failed to come to a deal with Hurley three years ago, he's gone 55-41 at URI.
In the past week, with a roster missing two injured all-conference players, he's won at #22 Dayton. And with seven healthy players tonight, he beat Umass by 18, holding them to 12 points in the first half.
BTW, Eddie Jordan has gone 28 - 69 over that same period. Forty one games under .500.
We would be damn lucky to have DH as coach of this program. Hope Hobbs gets it done. I'd gladly take Lonergan or Sendek too.

There's nothing in his record that says that he's anything other than a mediocre A-10 coach. Having a better record than us simply means he's a college coach. Can do better.
As an outsider, it's truly amazing to me that some of you are even contemplating keeping Eddie. I don't love Danny Hurley (I think he's kind of a raging lunatic), but I legitimately don't understand what gets accomplished by keeping Eddie and maybe trying to put more money behind the program. It's not like this is year one for him -- most of these guys are his players, and while
Sanders is really good, you guys are about the finish possibly the worst season ever by a power conference team (no offense). You guys already getting enough negative publicity...keeping Eddie after this season would make you an absolute laughingstock.

Not sure why you are commenting and wasting time talking about a new coach. You assured us a few,days ago that no coaching change will be made, after you and Pat Hobbs must have sat down for dinner.

We already are a laughingstock. Many seem to enjoy the role. I have no other explanation.

No one wanted to have parade after the 3rd overtime loss. Still kills me that Corey missed the foul shot. I was also at that game and you could tell in 3rd overtime they were done. No legs left. And Lewis somehow played like 40 minutes that game.
Because a portion of our fanbase is so mom and pop plus they have accepted losing much like the head coach and players. Need cultural shift much like Ash is trying to do in football. The losing has been ingrained so that a guy making a few baskets is seen as a sign of progress. Expectations are so low here in ao many ways
So a guy like Sendek, who turned 3 programs around, and took NC State to 5 NCAA's, isn't a "big name"? I mean he's no Rick Calipari or John Pitino - :smiley: - I get it, but that would be the biggest "name" hire we've ever made I'd venture to guess.
My opinion has not changed....Yes, it's called opinion. I think Jordan should get a 4th year with a full roster. If not, we move forward and my support continues.
60 year old coach who made the NCAAs once in his last 17 seasons as a head coach. Pass.
Cant discount the effect of ESPN. Not hung up on age. Just want a winner. Thought Fridge helped us significantly in football.
