OT: Cancer related to alcohol

except an anti science conspiracy guy is not the right person to lead investigations into things most people care about. It's great to care about vaccines, autism, water safety, food safety, etc, but there isn't a serious person who trusts him to do the right thing on any of these issues. It's not his first rodeo.
If you can’t look at what is actually presented and see how food ingredients used in the US are actually banned in other countries, without your opinion of the presenter outweighing the actual information presented, then I am still right.

You are unable to remove politics from anything you think about.

OT: Pork Roll Eating Contest

I saw a video about making scrapple once. That did not make me happy.

Yea you never want to see how the sausage is made. Was leery of touring the Taylor facility.
As a young fireman in Manhattan we would have to inspect some pretty swanky restaurants. Including their kitchens.

Some things are better before you know what’s “behind the curtain”, if you know what I mean.

Cost of attendance

When my son was born, I immediately started contributing $250/month to a 529

He started in the fall and I will have enough to cover the whole thing. 👍
I started early for my granddaughter and at 6 she has about $100,000. I am trying to figure the 4-year cost so I can decide to start using the monthly contribution for something else.

My daughter graduated in 2012, and her 4-year cost was $100k including room and board. I am calculating if there is no other aid or scholarship.
Using the post above someone graduating in 2024 the 4 years was about $140k. In 2036 when my granddaughter starts it looks like it will be a minimum of $200k with the 4-year total could be $250,000.

I am on track so I think I should be able to cease contributions at some point.

OT: Anyone’s kid going through the college admissions process this spring?

Remember if you don't get into your first choice school you can always apply again after one year at your second choice. When dealing with transfer students admissions offices are more focused on how you did in your one year of college and not so much high school GPA or SAT scores.
I recall, back in the stone age, being encouraged (as a backup plan) that slots would open because of people failing out and that colleges would want to fill those class-year slots. But I wonder if students fail out anymore.
