Rutgers football adds FCS team with famous head coach to future schedule

The real irony is all the posters who can't stop complaining about PSU and now Vick - but have no problem rooting for a team (Rutgers) who is actively choosing to be long standing business partners with PSU and Vick.

Since I know nobody has boycotted the PSU games or called for the school to cut ties with PSU (we are actually going the opposite and hiring more and more PSU alums - McNulty) - how many plan on boycotting the Norfolk St. game?
Maybe the dumbest post in history but not surprising.

In regard to Vick doing his time etc…

There are pedifiles who have done their time and they are not allowed to teach our children. No matter how great a student they were themselves and qualified for the job.
What he did to defenseless dogs is not just a heat of the moment type of thing. He bred dogs to die for entertainment. That mindset is not something that just gets better. And even if it does, the fact is, he did it. He just should not be a leader of young men.

OT: Minor Snowfall for Most (except moderate N of 80 towards 84 w/some icing) Sat (2/15) pm, Followed by Heavy Rain for Everyone

Is there some type of potential big storm for Wednesday/ Thursday?

If so what is preliminary time of when storm starts.

Thanks.
Being discussed in the pattern thread, but will be starting a thread on it tomorrow; likely to start Weds night and go through Thursday. Could be a big one, but too early to forecast that 5 days out.

OT: Stormy and Potentially Snowy from about 2/8-2/22? (pg 9); OG Thread: Cold and Potentially Snowy Pattern Likely for Most of January

I don't think the folks on the two weather boards I post on liked when I posted this morning that the Euro AIFS model (their AI model) was largely a miss out to sea 3 of the last 4 runs, with snow mostly confined to SENJ/DelMarVa. And that's exactly what just happened for the 12Z GFS run, which was a significant hit for far SENJ/DelMarVa, but missed for anyone along/NW of 95. Doesn't mean, at all, that the threat is dead, but it certainly reminds people that there can be huge changes 6 days out.

And right on cue, the 12Z CMC is still a major snowstorm for all wit 10-16" for all, using the Kuchera algrorithm for snow/liquid ratio, since every model has temps in the teens to low 20s for this event (which is very unusual for these parts), meaning one would expect a very light/fluffy snow. And the UK is also still a major snowstorm with 12-24" for all. Going to be a long 5-6 more days, lol.

Edit: and the Euro is another big hit with 12-24" area-wide. So just the GFS as a near miss and the Euro-AIFS as almost a complete miss, while the Euro/CMC/UK Op runs and the ensembles for all 3 and the GFS actually all show a significant to major storm being likely. Long way to go still. If we have most/all of the models in agreement after tonight (5 days out), will probably start a thread.
Seeing almost the same thing at 0Z tonight that we saw at 12Z today with the GFS being a coastal scraper that gives SENJ/DelMarVA a good storm, but nada along/NW of 95 and the CMC, UK and Euro, especially, showing major to historic snowstorms. The CMC is a coastal hugger with 8-24" along/NW of 95 and a fair amount less SE of 95 due to mixing, while the UK is a major snowstorm with 8-14" for all, and last, but not least, the Euro continues its series of model runs showing historic snowstorms with 12-26" snow for everyone. This is a classic Miller A storm (crosses east through the Gulf states then comes up the east coast).

And the models even appearing to be exhibiting their biases, with the GFS being very progressive (not turning up the coast much) and the CMC being very amplified (almost going inland); not saying their solutions couldn't be right, but a mix of the two would seem more likely. And the ensembles continue to look good indicating that the GFS Op run is further SE than the ensemble mean (the SE track bias for the GFS) with the others all indicating a major snowstorm. One other note: a met on one of the boards showed that the Euro-AIFS has been showing a progressive/SE bias the last few storms, which could explain why it's showing solutions that are further offshore than any other model, including the GFS - this is really the first year seeing its performance in the real world.

We're not locked in to a major snowstorm for everyone yet, as we're still 5 days out and much can still change, although a complete miss and a total rainstorm from a cutter seem extremely unlikely, but a scraper that only hits the coast or an inland runner that brings snow to rain are still possible, although having said that, this is certainly the best signal we've seen for a big snowstorm at this range in a few years. Thread time tomorrow - gotta get some sleep now, lol. Good discussion below by Tomer Burg and the AmericanWx thread has all the maps you'd want to see.

No. 12 Rutgers wrestling wrapped up Big Ten Conference action with Michigan State on Friday

IMO the turning point was the moment he hit that high crotch against AB and couldn't get the takedown at PSU a few years ago. Leading up to that point Poz was coming off of an AA and was undefeated. Things went downhill right after. Whether it was a back injury or the flame within him went out, that to me was the moment things noticably changed. After that match he wasn't the same. Tonight's match was ugly. Maybe he's a bit undersized or people have figured him out. What he's accomplished with one eye is pretty impressive. I always pull for the guy, but he doesn't seem as into it. Something is clearly off at the very least.

Season Tickets

It’s been a disappointing year but are we going to act like the last 6 years haven’t been amazing for season ticket holders? We’ve had like 15+ ranked wins, sellout after sellout, and one of the loudest home court advantages in CBB.

That said, I’m a homer and will be in my seats no matter what.
Has it really been six years? Three seasons ago that team absolutely imploded down the stretch. The rac advantage started to show cracks. Granted we lost Mag but that Minne loss on the road had nothing to do with Mag. Then while we accepted the NIT that game wasn’t fun. In the end the season wasn’t a fun one in total. Last season was a disaster and most just held on to get to this season. And now this season and we’re a laughing stock again. Now the 2019-2022 seasons, Chefs kiss. Not just in terms of quality, ncaa basketball, but in terms of entertainment. The balance of the pep band and music, timed well with game flow and really worked the crowd up. It was a party! Now it’s just poorly timed music on timeouts. Not much band and endless tshirt times and tv giveaways. I’ll probably keep my seats too, but the rac the last few years isn’t close to what it was 2019-22

JMike

I'm pretty sure JMike's assist to turnover ratio is better, and that's the best measure of a PG. JWill does have much better fall down and clown around rates, I'll give you that. We're better off if he doesn't come back. Just interested - what are all those aspects of the game that JWill is better at?
He’s not a PG. None of them are. He’s a shot hunter who can’t shoot. Williams is much better scorer, albeit closer the hoop, you know, the area where Davis gets either stuffed or flat out bricks a bunny several times a game.

50 year fan. 1st game at barn as a kid in ‘74/5 and now…

You're spiraling. From "in or out?" to this thread. Time to reset the expectations so you don't feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the ball away.

An extremely large percentage of fans went into the season with unrealistic expectations. Pikes identity for the program is defense. 2 superstars on offense and a group of transfers that struggle to play defense was not a good roster for him.
It would have been a better roster with someone else managing, maybe anyone else.

JMike

Players can go back to HS ? Since when ? He's probably a better fit at SJ Metuchen than Montvale. JWill is better in every aspect except for maybe 3 pt shooting, emphasis on maybe.

Where is BKin118? What are his thoughts?

Ok...I'll bite

First, it was good to run into you outside the RAC @LeapinLou ...it's been a minute!

I don't think my opinion about how this season has turned out differs much from most others. I'm a bit disappointed but not at all surprised that we haven't executed during this experiment of a season. There could be 1000 reasons why, and I won't bore anyone with my 2 cents on that
..but to Rutgers credit, none are salacious or controversial in nature.

Pike is an outstanding human being and a great basketball coach. He will get us back on track when the smoke clears...I'm quite confident of that. Rutgers basketball will have 2 lottery picks in the NBA, and the programs profile has increased 1000 fold, even with the mediocre results so far.

Nobody can say that is a bad thing, right?
Well said. Voice of reason.

JMike

He gets beat now and doesn’t close out on his guy either. He also used to be right up on the point guard making it harder to get screened but he has allowed himself to get screened easily this year. He gives pressure in the backcourt and then backs off, which still allows offense to run whatever they want. Not disruptive anymore.
Much easier to be disruptive when you know you can count on the help behind you, and have rim protection.

I heard the same from a friend whose son was on the same Bound Brook team as Mekhi.
If this is the case, where we are losing recruits for being in the b10 and using the excuse that the b10 grind is the reason our wrestlers regressed then idk why we were even originally celebrating the move from EIWA to b10…

Yara and Bulsak went from diff conference to b10 and they seemed to do fine..
