Poor shot selection and finishing

Really thought Ace and Derkack were extremely poor in their shot selection and finishing. A lot of the shots they took were forced and not within the rhythm of the offense.

Ace and Derkack shot for a combined 2-of-12 from within the arc (close to mid-range). Ace was 0-of-4 from mid-range. Derkack was 0-of-5 on layups. Ace was actually better from beyond the arc at 4-of-9 than shooting 2 pointers. Derkack is one of the team's worst 3 PT shooters, so I'm not sure why he was even allowed to take a 3 pointer.

Both really hurt the team badly on the offensive end yesterday.

I will say with Dylan still not 100% it really showed. Dylan went 0-of-3 from deep and went 2-6 from close range. I know he's a warrior and tried to fight as much as he could. Hopefully the young man gets back to 100% soon.

Rutgers needs to focus on making it to the Big Ten Tournament HOWEVER right now, I don't think this team wins more than 4 Big Ten league games this year and and will miss the Big Ten Tournament.

Mortem by Lion - Aftermath pf RU v Purdue

Time to start acuff over jwill. Ogbole gives up wayyyy too much space between him and who he’s guarding. I’m 5’7” and I can probably get a shot off with all that room. My starting 5:

1. D harp - 37 mins
2. Acuff - 25 mins
3.grant - 25 mins
4. Bailey - 37 mins
5. Somerville -30 mins

Bench
6. Jwill- 21 mins
7. Ogbole - 10 mins
8. Davis - 15 mins

Rest DNP
That starting lineup is essentially the last card Pike has to play.

Short term fixes to our long term basketball abyss

well we just extended our OC and he makes more than he should for a 7-6 coach who couldnt figure out how to get a first down in the 2nd half of a bowl game

looks like Greg is currently the AD
He always was, 1.0 and 2.0. In fact, he was probably our AD even while at Tampa, the Patriots, OSU and Tennessee for 45 seconds in order to ensure a soft landing at his discretion, knowing RU is the only place he can keep a job.

NIL killed college hoops its now professional hoops

sorry Geo its not about selling t shirts or a basketball camp

Coleman Hawkins is making $2 million at Kansas State to mail it in and underperform for a 7-7 Kansas State team that is going nowhere and will finish near the bottom of the Big 12 standings. Normally he would have made peanuts in the G League. Now marginal NBA players are duping college programs to pay them huge amounts

Great Osobor is making $2 million at Washington to average 9.8 points for a 10-6 team that is on everyones list to miss the Big 10 tournament

Jonnel Davis is making over $1 million at Arkansas to average under 10 ppg half of the previous year for a Arkansas team that will likely straddle the bubble under Calipari

Someone not Rutgers is paying Dylan/Ace $1.8/.1.6 million to play at 8-8 Rutgers and likely miss the Big 10 tournament

AJ Dybantsa will make $4 million to attend BYU next year

not basketball but https://www.wfla.com/news/florida/6...l-players-sue-coach-over-failed-nil-payments/

And we all just play pretend and say ooh this was happening before, now its just out in the open..haha yeah right
Before last nights game I pulled the plug on my nil contributions. I just sat back and said why I am doing this? These guys aren’t students for the most part as you say they are professionals. Why am I paying professionals. Its dumb. And it’s not fun. I am also dropping my tickets this year. Seeing a roster turn over every year. Seeing teams trot 24 year old guys into the rac. This isn’t college athletics. I don’t know what it is but it sucks.

Shouting match between Dylan and Purdue fans?

i saw security down below talking to Purdue fans and RU fans yelling to throw them out but didnt seem like anything happened. I really dont think Dylan should be concerned at all with what Purdue fans are saying when the team is getting beat up on the court.
Ala Troy Murphy's vaginal secretion of a father?

How far the faithful have fallen.😔

NIL killed college hoops its now professional hoops

I’m finding it very hard to imagine that I’m going to be interested in college sports for much longer. NIL has killed everything that was great about it.
Already there. I stopped watching most Pro-Sports years ago. NFL and Hockey Playoffs I can still enjoy. Gave up on the NBA a decade ago. Watch zero of it. Pretty much out on baseball too.

My attention to non-Rutgers watching for NCAA Football and Basketball must be down 80%. I completely forgot Rutgers was playing last night and took the wife out to dinner. (good move on both sides of that decision!).

There are better things to do with my time and my money if this is the model going forward. I would be thrilled to see that semi-pro super "college" league come to fruition and teams like RU and all the others like us return to the regional alignments and more traditional student-athlete participation. And I'm talking about the Cuse/Pitt/Va Tech/BC/Maryland/West Virginia etc alignment and not Colgate and Lehigh , etc. .. call it the New 1A. Sign me up.

OT: College Football Playoffs Semifinal Games 1/9-1/10 Thurs-Fri

I think this is one of those manufactured motivation/disrespected kind of things but whatever gets you going I guess lol.

In the future, CFP distributions will be more fixed by confrence, G5, ND etc...through next year it's partially performance based.

NIL killed college hoops its now professional hoops

LOL this is what I feel to be a huge misconception.

The majority of players in D1 hoops are not getting paid substantial money. The very small minority of players are getting paid 500,000$. plus.

The majority of players have a stipend, and maybe a marketing deal worth a small amount, and possibly a very small amount of money. Most are not receiving of NIL.
