OT: Dry January

I do not preach against the use of pot or alcohol but there is some evidence that long term pot usage impacts brain function later in life.

“Long-term cannabis users' IQs declined by 5.5 points on average from childhood, and there were deficits in learning and processing speed compared to people that did not use cannabis. The more frequently an individual used cannabis, the greater the resulting cognitive impairment, suggesting a potential causative link.

The study also found that people who knew these long-term cannabis users well observed that they had developed memory and attention problems.”

My 68 year brother in law smoked daily from his early twenties to late forties. The decline in his cognitive function is striking and obvious to every one. Even his 99 year old mother can see it and comments on it.

Zero deaths caused by cannabis yes, EVER.

When did you make the leap that driving while inebriated was legal? It’s not! Your argument is that one must break the law and start driving while intoxicated in order to cause a death by automobile…. That’s not caused by cannabis. That’s caused by stupidity and anyone dumb enough to drive while intoxicated. Interesting you bring that up though as drunk driving deaths happen at a FAR greater rates and is not factored into the 500 deaths per day in the United States caused by alcohol. No thats 500+ deaths per day based on CONSUMPTION. Find my a single death cause by consumption of cannabis alone. You can’t.

Heavy Alcohol use over time destroys one’s kidneys, liver, brain and heart… that doesn’t occur with cannabis. Heck the one potential negative we have seen with COPD/Breathing issues is caused by the smoke itself when consuming cannabis and now you can just pop a gummy and avoid that entirely.

Bro, respectfully, you have no idea what you are talking about. It’s all good though, pots not going away and something about watching weird squares try to justify ‘Reefer madness’ is just amusing to me these days
You shouldn't be saying this because...it's just not true.

There's ample science that has connected heavy cannabis use to psychotic disorders (e.g. schizophrenia). This is well established now and the early findings are setting the stage for further confirmatory research. Schizophrenics have a 2.5x rate of death relative to a general population.

My kids are nowhere near even thinking about drinking(hope not at least) but heard from several other parents that alcohol is not seen as “cool” these days
In all honesty, the cocktails of today, by and large, are weak as hell.

We need to get back to our roots on the cocktail side. Champagne cocktails; manhattans; rob roys; anything served in a martini glass. I think these spirit mixes in a can are just... destroying the value proposition... because they are eroding the allure and sophistication of a well-mixed drink.

When I think of a cocktail, I think of James Bond. Not of a can. No self respecting Bond would drink a long island iced tea...nevermind an LIT out of a can.

Rant over.

A Healthy Dylan Will Spark A Run

You add his production when healthy and this is a different team with different results. Dylan is aware of the hoopla regarding Flagg’s 42 point game, and will take it as a challenge. He will put this team on his back. Because of this I believe we will go on a winning run with him producing at pre-flu levels. F*ck all the negativity. Let’s get some wins with Dylan leading the way.
I just want to see how we can compete in the B1G with a healthy Dylan and Ace.

Zero deaths ? You must be high. Lol also have you seen the stoners on the road ? You spot them all over now running red lights , stopping when they are not supposed to , swerving and doing 20 miles per hour in the fast line on and on. Both alcohol and drugs are bad .

How lucky is Kyle Flood?

the offense between 09-10 went from more of a hybrid to a full out spread.
At OL the scheme was a bit different but the biggest difference with the OL was the talent and, sorry Howie, if you ever look at the boards, tge Center position. Howard B should never have been at center. He would have been really good at OG or OT.
His shotgun snaps were the slowest I have ever seen.
Savage also had one major fault, he had zero pocket presence.

The reason for the OL decline was because of a couple of things- GS never put a priority on OL. He had years that he would bring in only 1 or 2.
We also had a couple of huge failures as well- Forst just never even wanted to play- he did it for fun but it didn’t drive him. We had a couple of others that also just never lived up to what they could have become.
We did start back to getting a few good OL back into the program- Lumpkin, Nelson, Johnson, Bujari, Muller etc
2010 just happened to be that perfect storm…

But every OL that has played for Flood that has made the NFL will tell you it was all about what he taught them.

A Healthy Dylan Will Spark A Run

We lost to Princeton and Kennesaw St previously with Dylan. Our best win is a home win against a Penn St team likely to be on the bubble. We haven’t done a thing on the road or on a neutral court to date, even with “the most dominant player in the B1G”.

This team will definitely win a couple more games behind strong performances from Ace / Dylan, but there is nothing to suggest we’re capable of going on a legit run. Not enough pieces, not enough consistency. Sorry
Hahahaha. You get my vote for the negative Nancy post of the month. Congratulations.

Consider taking up hiking. Good for you in so many ways. Alone or with a group.
I play a lot of disc golf which in many ways is just hiking with an object. I’m the type that hates running or hiking just for the sake of it but when you add a game/goal to it keeps my attention. Play both with groups and alone if I have time, at least once a week but normally 2-3 rounds per week. That and my 7 year old has taken a liking to it so it’s something we can do together

I’m about 20 years we will see the same studies showing you are wrong.
Is that so? Despite the fact that we have thousands of years of history and use to look at and never once has cannabis been the cause of death compared to 500 deaths daily in the United States alone from alcohol, but now all the sudden things are gonna change in the next 20 years and people are gonna start dropping dead from weed?

K

NIL killed college hoops its now professional hoops

It's a settlement -- it's not based on any specific benchmark, but rather represents an agreement between the plaintiffs and the NCAA based on what each thinks it's worth to settle the lawsuit rather than to take it to trial and risk a worse outcome.
Thanks.

A deal is a deal, but man that sounds way out of the ballpark of what their endorsements could have rendered from 2016-2021.

OT: RIP Monica Quartermaine

I was at Rutgers during the whole Luke and Laura thing. Sounds crazy now but most didn't have TVs in the dorm rooms. My sophomore year was the height of it all and I had class back on Cook. The student center would be packed in the TV area well before 3pm. It was like the whole campus was skipping class. I'd pass through to get a soda and a snack and was amazed how many guys were "into" it including fellow athletes. Turns out many of them were just trying show the ladies that they had a heart for GH but actually using it to meet the pretty girls. 🤣
That so many people bought into the crappy acting and production was mind blowing.
Funny the build up to the wedding was crazy but as soon as they got married most people stopped watching. Lol

Stop the Whining and Look on the Bright Side...

Just checked in we are 8 - 8. Sorry but same old Rutgers. It’s mismanagement from the top down. They can’t even figure out how to get people their tickets or parking passes.

Rutgers always messes it up somehow. Twice now they screwed me on parking. This year I tried to give my freind FB tickets. I paid $4000 for. They turned it into a nightmare. No more money from me ever. Wish I had all my $ back.

Good luck to Rutgers. Bye

I transferred tickets in and out for 14 FB and BB games in 2024. No issues. Of course, I have the app like it's 2024/5 and not 1969, but that's just me.

Don't let the door to the Audi Rutgers Club hit you in the ass.

A Healthy Dylan Will Spark A Run

losses to Princeton, Kennesaw State and Ohio State by 14 with a healthy Dylan.....you have it right. I dont know why posters are doing this to themselves. Sure this team will win games with a healthy Dylan and be a bad loss for some school with NCAA aspirations, not sure what the definition of run is?

Closes loses to Bama/TexasA&M are meaningless..the outliers at this point, RU needed the last possesion to beat Seton Hall and Notre Dame and staved off a blown lead to secure their sole quality win of the year over Penn State
But what if we have like 12 close losses in the remaining 15 games, won’t that help our resume? This is nuts, some were referencing those close losses and acting like it was a feather in our cap or built up the tournament resume at the time. A loss is a loss, and a loss is not a win. It’s meaningless now anyway as we are cooked at this point but people will still try and grasp at that straw. We also had close losses to Kennesaw and Princeton, funny how no one tried to bring those up as a feather in the cap and what a strong team we have due to those two “competitive losses”hmmm….I wonder why? Losses are losses, and one thing this team was not good at was closing out games for wins. I speak of them in the past tense as their season is already over like it’s in the past.

OT (Updated): The Saturday 1/11 Event Now Looking Like <1" with a Whiff Possible on the Low Side and 1-2" Possible on the High Side

Thanks! I always assumed that the ocean's relative warmth would always keep snow down along the shore, but I can now see that will not always be the case depending on the track of the storm. Here in Cherry Hill we often have to keep a careful eye on the snow/freezing rain and sleet line.

Biggest NJ snowfall ever was in Cape May in 1899 with 34" (from what I recall there were never confirmed reports of more in Whitehouse during Jan-1996), so clearly it can really snow there. But on average, Cape May gets the least snow in NJ and low snowfall totals generally move up the coast from there and, generally speaking, snowfall goes up slowly from SW to NE in all areas, but goes up much more quickly per mile from SE to NW, as one can see from the snowfall graphic below. I grew up a few miles from CH in Washington Twp and in the 70s it seemed like we rarely got more than the NW folks, due to mixing/rain.

Philly gets about 23" per year, NB gets about 27" and Central Park gets about 29", moving about 90 miles from SW to NE along the 95 corridor, whereas just heading 40 miles NW from NYC or Newark, snowfall goes up much faster from 29" to over 50" in Sussex County. The 95 corridor generally isn't that far from the coast and is at low elevation, whereas areas NW of 95 are obviously further away from the warming effects of the ocean, but they also are usually at much greater elevations and temps go down about 5F for every 1000 feet increase in elevation, so that is why those areas get snow very often when 95 or the coast gets rain.

Here's your #1 NBA 2025 draft pick

No,
There would be acknowledgment these young men turned it around.
Just like every other fanbase in the country who’s teams do a 180.
Well hopefully some of those guys change the sentiment on this board Currently . A few negative posters are influencing everyone's opinion. Team would be better off without these two, it's such a ridiculous assumption. I think it's more so Ace that people have a problem with and I don't understand it. I would understand if the team was good last year..
