Commercial sequence after 2nd UCLA score

So UCLA scores with 2:43 left in the 2nd quarter. After the extra point, they go to a 3:00 minute commercial break. They kickoff to us, it's a touchback, they go to another 3:00 minute commercial break. We run some plays, gets down to the 2:00 minute warning, at which point a 3rd 3:00 commercial break. Just unbelievable how much they break up the flow of the game.

"He'll always have Piscataway."

Not a bad line from LA Times staff writer Ben Bolch describing Ethan Garbers' game yesterday.

The rest of the sports section was an inquisition of Lincoln Riley over his loss to the Terrapins or a worry over the Dodgers suddenly looking human.

Garbers said he was surprised that his running back was left wide open on that 67 yard catch and run TD pass that put up 28-19 late 3Q.
I doubt that many of us here were.

AK: Apologies if repeat thread

I’d swear there was a thread dedicated to Kaliakmanis earlier but now I can’t find it so what is left to say my peace in the new thread. Basically, my question for those who are criticizing AK is who did you think we were getting in this year? Did you think it was Peyton Manning? AK had a good game today, the kind of game which Wimsatt would’ve been totally in capable of producing. The loss is frustrating, I understand that as well as anyone. But anyone who hammers Kaliakmanis for his interception or for passes that may have been off target is just looking for a scapegoat or one more thing to be critical of. He put up 287 passing yards and Rutgers scored 32 points. He’s a middle of the pack B1G quarterback.

Can anyone explain the B Fonseca and Politi drama?

I personally think Steve Politi is a pessimistic click baiting human who finds it ok to put out headlines while being sensitive to feedback.
Brian Fonseca on the other hand is on the same path and has done many slimes and sketchy things to get headlines.

Can anyone explain the recent events for drama I’ve been hearing with lack of details?

Army and Navy

Maybe someday we can hope to be as good as Army and Navy. Year in and out new teams to the party have banner years and we wallow in less than mediocrity. This year IA State, IN and Pitt all undefeated. Illinois having a year. Washington St doing well and I don’t even know if they have a Conf. Even Liberty and UNLv have AP votes. But we’re told the program is still developing. Told it takes time. Our fans suffer from excusitis and are happy with close losses and seeing “progress”. Come on. One double digit win season in 30-40 years, I’m not sure we can ever join the party, but tell me your thoughts. What’s your one idea to turn things around? The most popular answer so far seems to be a football minded AD. Will that really do it?

Media Questions

I’m sorry but how the F was the following not asked????

1. Down 21-10 with 40 seconds left in the half and we were not stopping them and had no plans to try to score, why not put black or a speedster back and try to return the kick????? If we get tackled at the 12 yard line who gives a fck Greg??? (Yes should actually curse at the end of the question! Lmao.

2. Why the F did your D give the underneath pass to the RBs and short 5 yard routes which were WIDE open ALL day long??? (THATS why there were missed tackles because they were wide open all day for the short dump pass!! They had room to wiggle. When we caught the ball There were defenders near by- I mean I could have made those passes! He didn’t have to go medium or deep practically all game. That was the most frustrating part of this game for me??? Did not adjust to the short pass which was WIDE FN open ALL day long!!!

3. Why the F after throwing the ball down the field would we get ultra conservative and run the ball 3 times (for 5 yards) from their 20 yard line? That’s scared football to me Greg.

4. 2 pt conversion first score of 3rd is ridiculous and I said it when we were lining up. He can stick that card or computer up his fn ass (and I’m a GS fan but enough is enough). We should have scored with 1:45 to go and been down by 2. Convert and we go to OT. Miss and we lose . Waaaaayyy too early. Thank u for the reporter who asked the question…

Richie, if possible any one of these 3 questions would be great. Probably too late. Media really needs to ask better questions and need to be phrased much better. Almost as frustrating as watching 3 yards passes that were wide open kill you all day!!

The 2 primary issues with the team (and program)

1. Offensive game calling.
We put giant handcuffs on our QBs by never allowing them to throw over the middle unless it's a quick slant. Every "chunk" play is a throw outside that severely limits yac opportunities as they are running into the sideline. Half the deep throws are uncatchable as they are out of bounds. Every other program in America calls some throws beyond 10 yards over the middle. He'll, we can't score in the red zone 'cause we're terrified to throw a pass into the endzone - unless it's a corner fade.
Every opponent sees this and knows every route we are running - and more importantly- everywhere we won't be throwing the ball. This makes defending us very easy. Schiano MUST take the handcuffs off the QB if we hope to win another game. We MUST utilize the entire field to have any chance of beating any opponent the rest of the year since our defense is going to give up 35+ pts in every game going forward (see #2)

2. Recruiting the lines
Our o-lines and d-lines have always been subpar. We can usually find enough guys to develop an ok starting group but if injuries happen in any quantity, we f#@ked. We are currently in f#@ked territory. Our dline was avg at best prior to injuries. Now its abysmal. Going forward, it's the fans who can change this. Our fans traditionally give less than every other B1G program and the results are visible on the field. We need a massive infusion of talent on the lines and that costs $$$$$. Unless you are satisfied with the current results, it's time to open our wallets. Otherwise it will never change.
