Have to give @kyk1827 his props as the winner of the league this year. Guess he does know a thing or two about college football. Man's earned his bragging rights and hopefully a nice prize from @Richard Schnyderite
Shout out to Hawkeye1899 (whoever you are) as the runner up. You made it interesting. If only you didn't disappear in Week 11. LMAO, what happened there mate?
Major props to everyone who participated. It was a really strong field this year. As miserable as Rutgers' season was, at least we had some fun watching otherwise meaningless games across the country.
Last, but not least, thanks @Richard Schnyderite for being our gracious prize sponsor.
Nice Pick'en gents.
In fact, it was a voice from the crowd that helped him shake off some rust.
“I was just focused on making it down the floor and making the right plays," he explained. "I made a pass to Cliff (Omoruyi) and he didn’t see it coming; I was forcing things, and then I hear someone say, ‘Caleb, just let it come to you!’ After that I kind of relaxed. I was like, ‘You know, he’s right.’ I heard it from the crowd. I was like, let’s just relax and let it come to me.”
The more I think about it, Matt Sluka should 100% be our QB next year. He's the second highest rated QB on PFF on any level of football. And before you say, it's FCS, did you see Wimsatt play against Wagner? He went 4/12 with a pick. It would've been 4/13 if Long didn't make a highlight catch. As of right now, Sluka is better than Wimsatt. If Wimsatt develops and beats him, then so be it. But I think the best course of action if we can't get a P5 transfer, get an FCS stud. He can at least run and make plays on his own. Something none of our QBs can come even remotely close to doing. 0 swag out of any of those guys. Elite FCS players are better than bad P5 players. Direnzo was the best transfer lineman we got and he was from Sacred Heart. He was way better than the four star we got from Minnesota and the 4 star who committed to Texas out of HS.
The year Ash was fired Langan started QB most of the season. He has a better competition percentage than Wimsatt. He was a RS freshman. He also had 400 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. That was Nunzio as a Head Coach and a way worse supporting cast than we have now. Our dual threat QB had 76 yards rushing this year. Most of them came on one run. He had an insanely bad completion percentage. Half the times we wouldn’t even try to throw because they were scared of him throwing a pick. NOBODY said let’s just give Langan reps and maybe in 3 years he’ll develop into a great QB. We moved him to TE. Why is everyone so sure that Wimsatt will be good? He was the same if not worse than Langan was a few years ago.
Starting to see the TV deals impact this stuff. The ACC will take on the SEC (both ESPN) and my assumption is the Big Ten and Big East (both FOX) will find a way to continue the Gavitt Games. Or the Big Ten will just say eff it and play 22 conference games or something.
It happens every year. We get to the last game of the season and instead of waxing nostalgic when it's over and looking forward to next year we get trucked by f*ckin' Maryland and I have to spend all winter trying to talk myself into buying season tickets yet again.
From comments earlier in the season, it was clear Hobbs was putting together money for a Schiano increase in salary.
Essentially acknowledging the escalating salaries of coaches requires it.
Realistically I do not think there is any chance Schiano is a flight risk this year.
I do not see any team coming in and offering him more money to leave.
Therefore if you are Hobbs do you push Schiano to go all in on an OC, spend $1.5MM+ if you need to.
If we win next year or show big growth then you give Schiano his raise.
Essentially take the money that was slated for Schiano's raise and put into an OC.
Other then Schiano being a bit ticked, do not see any downside.

I do Yale radio and have,with others an Ivy website. Jim Engles needs to win let's say 6 Ivy games or he is done. Ace recruiter Tobe Carberry who came over from Yale brought in arguably the best Ivy class highlighted by smooth Blair Thompson who would be a solid Big East recruit. Holdovers De La Rosa and Shockley-Oweke and shoot it and create as well.They have no one who can remotely defend Cliff but it Caleb is still out it could be close for 20 minutes. If the Columbia frosh,which also include Avery Brown and Kenny Noland grow up quickly and hit 3's,an area where we know Rutgers is vulnerable then it could be a game throughout. The Ivy is vastly underrated.
1) Quick recovery and knocking off the rust for Paul and Caleb. Caleb def needed yesterday;
2) Turnover are one thing but those you can see coming seconds ahead are really headache inducing with Mag and Aundre good for two of those apiece per game;
3) Less of Cliff and others going for blocks on D allowing easy put backs for opponents;
4) No WTF foul-shooting performances;
5) Full game of aggressive offence from Cam;
6) Dean seeing a couple go down. Think he plays much better when paired with Paul
Rhule lures South Carolina’s pretty successful OC to Lincoln with him on Day 1 of his new job. Apparently he was making $900,000 with the Gamecocks. The two have work together at multiple stops.
