This needs to be addressed: Gavin Wimsatt ≠ Art Sitkowski

I’ve seen this comparison many times over the past 24 hrs. Let me be clear:

They are not even in the same stratosphere of each other. Art made legitimately 0 progress in his time here. He barely, very rarely ever showed flashes of being able to be good. He threw so many bad interceptions his freshman year - 18 to be exact. (Penn State comes to mind where he threw it up to their safety with no one from RU within 30 yards).

Gavin is making very clear progression. First half is a good example (Art never once had a half like that and certainly not against a top 3 defense PERIOD.) The progess he has made from Wagner until now is good. He commands the offense , can rattle off multiple good throws in a row and looks to be very comfortable. Last night showed more than just flashes. He is a legit QB that is young and needs to grow into the role AND THAT OKAY. We need to allow him to grow and evaluate his games with nuance.

There is nothing in his game that is unfixable. And no, he isnt this completely innacurate unfixable quarterback. Throwing high is fixable and you see it often in young qb’s. Of his 3 picks last night:

1) Freshman mistake. Got baited into thinking he was throwing into cover 2 when they were in a soft cover 4. Correctable and will come with maturity and seeing more defenses.

2) Threw a ripper to Cruickshank that shouldve been caught and he was unprepared to get the football. Teachable moment is to take some juice off the football on shorter throws.

3) This was an option route to the backside where Gavin makes the call to a speed out, hitch, fade or slant. He opted for the fade, probably shouldve thrown outside but at that point it made no difference.

Michigan pinned their ears back in the 3rd quarter and it impacted him because he has not seen that ONCE like that at this level of football.

Everyone relax and let the kid develop. Maybe he is or isnt the answer but the sky is falling crowd about GW need to take a breather, have a beer, smoke cig whatever you need to do to relax!

NIL - We either step up, or keep getting drilled

It's very simple - the game has changed with NIL and isn't going back
I've said it countless times, and will say it again

We either collectively step up NIL$$ wise, and get fans and businesses on board, or we'll keep getting smoked
There's no middle ground

I'm tired of getting hammered vs. the big boys
I'm also tired of losing to the likes of Nebraska

I'm tired of hammered by a pedestrian Minnesota team
And I'm tired of not winning a B1G home game in 5 years

Now I'm going to enjoy an 80 degree Sunday
Church, Sunday sauce and some NFL

But the choice is ours
Hoping others decide to step up as well

There’s A Lot to Like with Gavin, Last Night Was Encouraging

The box score might not show it with 3 int’s but let me be the first to say, I was wrong on him.

I’ve known from the jump he had nfl level pocket awareness, truly remarkable but this kid delivers strike with chaos all around him.

The Positives:
- He’s learning how to be a good thrower in live game action against top tier competition.
- He’s got command of the offense
- Pocket Awareness
- Accuracy on deep balls

The Bad, Which IMO are all correctable
- Needs to learn to take some mustard off short throws
- The first INT was truly him just not reading the coverage properly, that will come with time and experience and film.
- The 2nd and third INT’s were honestly just shots taken without much regard for coverage and much like the 1st INT, that will come with time
- Throwing the ball away instead of running out of bounds voluntarily for a 5 yard loss

I know we got pasted in the 2nd half but I havent been as optimistic about this program after last night as ive been in some time.

P.S. there are rumblings in the lots with those in the know that Sam Brown has been offered some NIL deals from some shady top tier programs. It is crucially important that you donate at least $100/month to KnightsOfTheRaritan.com . A Sam Brown/Gavin combo running rpo’s is a defenses nightmares and something that will make us a top 25 program in 2024 imo
