Kaliakmanis Statistically

In looking at Kaliakmanis statistically, I think he's giving what we could've expected out of him. At Minnesota last year, Athan had 1838 14Tds and 9 interceptions. He completed 53% of his passes. At Rutgers he has 1650 with 9 Tds and 5 interceptions and completed 54% of his passes. His numbers are very similar to what he did last yar at Minnesota. His QBR at Minnesota was 115 and it's 119 at Rutgers. In 2022, Athan completed 54% of his passes in limited time.

According to PFF, Athan is not the problem. He has a really good score of 79.2, which makes him our third highest rated offensive player behind Hollin Pierce and Sam Brown. Gavin's PFF score wasn't awful last year. He had a 70. However, with 4 games left, Athan almost threw for more yards than Gavin and has the same amount of touchdowns. Where we miss Gavin is in the redzone. We had multipe times this year where we couldn't score from the two becuase the only option we had was to run it up the gut with Monangai against a stacked box. Gavin was extremely good in the redzone and usually scored. He had 11 touchdowns which really hasn't been replaced. But 1700 yards starting every game including a bowl game is preposterous.

OT: Stop the Presses - Star-Ledger to stop printing

Star-ledger print edition will stop printing and closing its Montville production facility in 2025.

I always liked the Tony Soprano scenes getting the paper in his driveway. Sunday sports section in the fall was a treat - nfl previews , college football results , high school football results , MLB , and a column by izenberg. That was years ago and I am sure hasn’t been the same

Will politi call Julie Herman for a comment ??

USC Trip Experience (Mrs. Lincoln Thread)-Hike Picture Added!!

No, not Mrs Lincoln Riley! Other than the game result itself, how was the experience?

Mrs Shift and I are having a fantastic time. LA is a obviously great destination, much better than any other B1G destination in terms of things to do.

Santa Monica and the pier were interesting and the pier was creepy and weird. Curious Palate was fantastic.

Skipped the Thursday night social event. Did anyone go, and how was it? We are staying at a house in Studio City, and we had a fantastic dinner in Studio City.

Yesterday's hike to the Hollywood Sign was marvelous. Great crew of long time fans. I did not get everyone's board name. Thanks to @PatrickRU92 for setting up the hike. Met @rucoe89 , @Westcoast , and many others. Had some great mountain biking discussions with the guy from Bedminster, and hope we have an opportunity to ride together back in NJ.

The RU tailgate was good, not great. Very well attended and strong showing. Food was meh to bad.

Game experience was unparalleled greatness. How refreshing to have ZERO piped in music, and a loud and proud marching band mic'd up and playing between every play on offense, cheering loudly and making noise when USC was in defense.

Wonderful to hear a PA announcer with a deep voice and no schtick. Announced the result of each play clearly and gave the down and distance with no goofy affects.

Halftime band and drone show was outstanding. Very patriotic drone show. The Marine introduction who surprised his parents by showing up on the field was awesome.

Layout of the stadium was great. Spacious perimeter outdoor the gates with lots of food and drink options. Individual ramps for each of 2 lower sections, and separate ramps for upper levels eased flow into stadium. More food options inside the stadium.

Getting to and from the Coliseum wa easy with the Metro.

Only small negative was the torch was broken and they could not light the torch. No worries, the Trojans torched then Knights on the field!

Happy to have met @RUforester72 and @PiscatawayMike in the stands.

There were a lot of empty seats, which was a bit of a surprise. The one thing that made the on field performance more tolerable was sitting in front of @The RUT and his San Diego buddies, especially his friend who had just a little too much to drink. Thanks for the laughs. We should have kicked that obnoxious woman's ass. Getting arrested would have been worth it. Kidding!

All in all, a great trip and a Great Knight. Make lemons out of lemonade.

Blocked FG penalty - 10 point swing?

I’ve seen this referenced in a few places (not just on the Banks - but see Ed section):

Can someone explain how it was a 10 point swing? If they get the blocked FG they take over around where they ended up getting the ball after our TD with like 30 seconds to go in the quarter. Considering they ran out the clock when we gave it back to them with 25 seconds left, it’s safe to assume they would’ve done the same thing. So the halftime score would’ve been 7-3 us rather than 14-3. Isn’t that a 7 point swing or am I missing something? Why would there be an assumption of them scoring again?

OT: Lonnie Warwick dead at 82

He was the MLB for The Purple People Eaters, the moniker for the Vikings defense in the late 60's and the 70's.
The Vikings played the Chiefs in IV, the last pure Super Bowl before the merger took full effect.
I bet the Chiefs at my local pool room-the tables were always in immaculate condition being a typical Goodfellas place-getting 13.5.
It was the only bet that I ever considered to be a sure thing.
23-7 KC as they kept matriculating the ball down the field.
