Any thoughts on what could happen to our current recruiting class if Flood is let go at season's end? I would hope whoever comes in can keep a guy like Russo in the fold.

That would be nice, and most kids will end up staying - because most don't have better offers and/or chose RU - but some will definitely leave. Regardless, as has been discussed before, this class is "okay," but dropping, and will likely drop more in the rankings, even if Flood is here, by signing day. We're currently 47th here, and 50th in 247, IIRC.

Russo and his family have already said that if Flood is the coach, he is firmly committed, other than that, they will re-evaluate.

I think the usual will happen. The AD will try to smooth it over as best she can and ask each if they will talk to the new coach before making a decision. She will remind them of all the reasons they committed to Rutgers, namely academics.

Some will stay some will not, not everybody has an immediate jumping point, so their options may be limited.

I believe Pollock and Sneed are mid year enrolles and have already signed. (There was an article about Pollock, but have not heard definitely if Sneed signed yet)

I do not think they will all walk out the door, but for those who do, maybe the New coach can pull off some decent last minute commitments to replace those who do.

We certainly need some highly regarded OL and DL to sure up the program and compete in the physical BIG 10.

And some TE's, LB's, K', P's, QB's, DB's, LB's, FB's, WR's, and maybe a big, bruising, RB

If RU brings in a coach who runs the spread I can virtually guarantee Russo is gone. His fit is with a pro style offense.

Nothing against Russo but it's time to move away from the pro-set. It just won't work here until we can recruit the RIGHT type of guys, across the board, on O.

The way this board has become I think I can get a feel of what things were like when the Paris Mob was screaming "Guillotine!!"

Russo? "GUILLOTINE!!"

Flood? "GUILLOTINE!!"

JH "GUILLOTINE!!"

No one player or class is bigger than the program, haven't we learned that yet? We could lose every recruit in this class, and IMO, that would be far better in the long run than keeping Fludd. Just like losing Schiano's last class would've been better in the long run than hiring Fludd.

Sorry, but if Russo was ONLY coming here for Flood, or would ONLY come here to play in a Pro-Style, well, too bad if we go another way. I'd love to have the kid here - no doubt - but we can't keep and or hire a HC JUST for him. No way.

100% agree...Keeping Fludd to get Russo is crazy.

Doesn't matter! Yes, would love to keep all those commitments, but the reality is, we will lose some. The main issue is Flood, and how this man decimated our Football Program. He has to go. If recruits cannot see that this is better for the program, and Rutgers University, then so be it.
Hopefully, our new coach will bring things to the table that, up to now have been lacking.

You get the best coach. No way it ever makes sense to keep a coach based on one recruiting class or part of a recruiting class. We did that with Flood, and now we're reaping the benefits of the recruiting class that he supposedly saved. How's that working? Also, I know nothing about Russo's intentions -- which means I'm like everyone here. But one thing that history teaches us is that, if Russo were finally to get an offer from a real good program, he's probably not going to sign with RU anyway. These types of seasons do a real good job of scaring commits away, something Flood has experience with too.
