Signed! Is Turley signed or just a verbal?
Signed!
He was a top recruit:Great job to the coaches for recognizing this level of talent when others couldn't!
Turley and Janzer. Wow. $$$$
It just felt like Turly shoulda won that match....commentators said they are both prep wrestlers who will probably hit again.. I’m taking Turly in the rematchTurley wasn't happy w the ref, who stopped match several times w Turley close to getting back points. Turley very aggressive, and very strong. The opponent was just a counter wrestler and staller.
Exactly my thoughts from watching the match. College ref would have hit other kid a few times and wouldn’t have stopped the bow and arrow.I think Turley wins that match in college
Congrats to Goodale for realizing the fifth-ranked 184 pounder in the 2019 class might be pretty good. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Great job to the coaches for recognizing this level of talent when others couldn't!

Beast of the East will have 4 of the 5 top teams from Ironman. Including Bergen Catholic that didn't go to Ironman. While Ironman is still overall better, Beast is still..well… a beast, lol.
RU misses out on a ton of talent from Bergen C, Delbarton, Blair, etc. NJ might be the best state in the country this year as far as top level talent. Need to get more of these kids too, eg Pat Glory, Kanniard, the Blair studs, etc etc etc.
Turley looks like a great find.
Blair, delbarton, etc are elite private schools. It’s hard to get those kids to go to the in state college. Mom and dad spent a bazillion dollars a year so their kids safety school is a place like duke.
Only if cut and polished properly. The future will tell.By PSU standards that’s a diamond in the rough.
My guess is Rutgers' next head coach isn't on the current staff. It would be nice if the next staff had Molinaro and Suriano on it.Plenty of those kids also go to Penn St , Ohio St, Va Tech, Iowa, NC St. etc If you’re wrestling program is good enough you’ll get some kids who from those schools.
It’s not like Rutgers has a bad academic reputation. Hopefully the new facility will help. Having Suriano and/or Ashnault win a Natty would help as well.
But i definitely see your point. Just need to snag one or two of those kids per year.
A quick look at this year commits from Blair and Delbarton :
11-26-17 Penn Nick Incontrera Blair Academy NJ 157
10-14-17 Cornell Julian Ramirez Blair Academy NJ 174/184
07-24-18 North Carolina State Mike Madara Blair Academy NJ 149
07-24-18 North Carolina State Owen Trephan Blair Academy NJ 285
04-20-18 Penn Michael Colaiocco Blair Academy NJ 125
Actually for this season so far, there no Delbarton commits yet.
Looking at Bergen C, the top NJSIAA wrestling team, but probably a bit less expensiver than Blair and Delbarton :
09-22-18 Cornell Chris Foca Bergen Catholic NJ 174/184
07-01-18 Cornell Jacob Cardenas Bergen Catholic NJ 197
Kanniard from Bergen C very recently committed to Penn St.
Both to Ivy league Cornell, but as we all know, Goodale w Pritzlaff has done well recently having Suriano , Grello, Pagano and Lipari on the roster .
The top 2 Pennsylvania teams, both in the North Eastern part of Pa, not that far from RU are Wyoming Sem (probably less expensive than Blair and Delbarton) and Bethlehem Catholic have these commits :
09-01-18 Iowa State Ryan Anderson Bethlehem Catholic PA 149/157
10-09-18 Lehigh Luca Frinzi Bethlehem Catholic PA 165/174
RU was recruiting Anderson above , who just won Ironman in impressive fashion, but either grades or something else seemed to be an issue. Interestingly, Anderson lives or lived in NJ recently, and Frinzi family originally from Phillipsburg, NJ.

PS- my niece is a senior at Blair now, friendly with a lot of the wrestlers, her and her dad (a Penn St grad) are big wrestling fans, go to the home meets and have flowrestling. She will probably go to Notre Dame or Cornell if she gets in, she has been accepted to Penn St as they have rolling admissions, so I think that's her safety school. She did not apply to Rutgers ( her dad and his sister both Penn St grads), while my 2 sisters and I are RU alums, lol. My brother is an Upsala grad (East Orange in the early 70s) but since he paid for 2 of his 3 kids to go to Penn St, that is his main college team, w Rutgers 2nd . So we have these same kind debates on where our teams are all the time and where kids are committing to all the time., lol. The great thing is we are all big high school and college wrestling fans as well as College football fans (and hs too).
It's great that Rutgers has a strong wrestling program now, just wish our Football program would catch up.
PS- I think it would be great if both Ashnault and Suriano were on our RU coaching staff in future years. Maybe in 5 years or so Goodale is our RU AD, Donny the Head Wrestling Coach, w Ashnault and Suriano as the 2 main assistants ! Those guys are NJ Wrestling Royalty !
I have to assume Pritz has first dibs on the position if it ever opens up, IMO.My guess is Rutgers' next head coach isn't on the current staff. It would be nice if the next staff had Molinaro and Suriano on it.

This is just an opinion, not an attempt to piss in anybody's corn flakes.I'm guessing, without any inside info, that the next RU Head wrestling coach would be Donny Pritzlaff, already on staff obviously, w Goodale in as Asst AD or some other title related to athletics or wrestling.
Might as well try to coax Gable out of retirement lol. This is just an opinion, not an attempt to piss in anybody's corn flakes.
The Rutgers program does not seem to be stepping forward. If Ashnault had not received a 6th year the program is looking at maybe only a single AA this year and next.
The elite NJ and eastern PA kids are not lining up to come to Rutgers, and there is a freaking ton of elite wrestling talent in NJ and eastern PA.
They need to have a head coach (Burroughs, Dake or Taylor) that shines a bright light on the path from NJ/PA HS wrestling to Rutgers and a supportive/instructive staff (Malinaro, Suriano, or of this level) to initially attract that talent and then also develop it. Donny isn't attracting the elite home grown talent now, so it is rather difficult to believe it comes once he is head coach.
Of course a RTC would help also. There is way too much elite wrestling talent within a 3 or 4 hour drive of Rutgers for you guys not to have a legitimate top 10 program or top 5 Big10 program.
Just an opinion.
