2018 Wrestling News

we used to allow one or two wrestlers but that was it. Dont know if that changed

Lex do you know what's going on with Glasgow regarding his injury?
Is he going to be out for an extended period of time?
If so who do we expect to fill in the interim?

2020 RU commit Connor O'Neill wrestling today at the Powerade Tournament in Pa. He's seeded 7 but I don't see anyone ranked higher than him. And he's wrestling in a pigtail soon as well. Strange seeding process. DePaul, Howell, and Camden C there from NJ. Being streamed on Flowrestling right now.

First time watching O'Neil. He has some broad shoulders. Where is he projected at in college? I would think 165 to 174.
Very good top game. Hopefully I will have a chance to see him again this tournament. If you see him on deck again, please post

O'Neill is a 2020 commit, so who knows how much he will grow by Fall of 2020.

Awesome to hear about Pantaleo. Just one more victim of Max Thomsen's!

O'Neill with the Pin and into the Qtrs he goes.
O'Neil very technically impressive, especially on top.

As an aside, anyone see the match before O'Neil? It got very testy. Kid threw a punch on a takedown and the coaches went at it afterwards.

Did not see that. Was watching McFadden lose on another mat.

285 Kewaun Deboe is the 1 seed here, he is the top ranked uncommitted senior at 285 in the flo rankings. I wonder if he's on the RU radar?

This current crop of committs Rutgers has seems like the best total haul in program history.
Not so sure about that....at the beginning of Goodale's tenure ('08 or '09) one year we had the #3 overall recruiting class if I recall correctly.

Yes (#2)Winston, (#17) Melde, and a bunch of other NJ state champs(maybe only Langel was ranked in top 100 of the rest idr)

Another quick pin. This kid is HUGE, every bit of 6'3" 285. Not sure if he is a football commit, if not our staff should be all over him.

The 2016 class had 5 guys in the top 71 per Intermat. Grello (#70), Mulligan (#50), Correnti, (#54), Mackall (#71) and Paetzall (#62).

So 7:30 is when the Quarterfinals start, Looking forward to O'Neil's match up with the #2 Seed (His school is Wall?). I am curious as to how the seeds were given.

I'm not sure McGearey is from Wall, that could be a mistake.

Oh I know , rankings wise maybe we’ve had good classes, but this is the first one where I believe the rankings are legit and the guys can come in ready to rumble

Basically, we’re starting to get guys who project to be very good college wrestlers and not just good high school guys . I guess this is happening due to Goodale being around long enough now to know what to specifically look for in a recruit and be able to project

Pantaleo dropping to 149, per Flo. He wrestled Nolf really well last year. Makes 149 tougher, if he can wrestle effectively at that weight.

That just made that weight tougher... I think if Ashnault can get on top of him, Pantaleo will be in a lot of trouble

Pantaleo reminds me a lot of Kolodzik. Strong defense, keeps good position on his feet, not a super high volume of shots but finishes well. He wins a lot of close matches.

He is very slick on his feet and tough to score on... But has lapses and bottom against a backpack has presented problems to him in the past...( see matches vs Dippery)

113 McHenry seems to have a bit of an attitude. Very hard pushing when he let his opponent up. Could be me getting old, but he didnt have to impose any will on this opponent...He did win 17-7 to make it to semi finals...may go back and watch the Beast Final again so I can see him lose.

Unreal with these Flo cameras. Missed the winning takedown by Oneil in SV because someone couldn't do their job and move the camera. He won 5-3 in SV
