It’s Pritzlaff staying. This is big, no doubt, but I’m a bit disappointed.
Don't be disappointed. Donny staying is very worthy of a huge BOOM.
Rutgers wrestling, with two national champs, a brand new practice facility, and an outstanding coaching staff, is going to reach heights I never thought possible. Really exciting!

I agree that Donny staying is absolutely huge, but IMO that is not "the best BOOM we've ever received" especially when that has typically, up to this point, been used for recruits.

Kinda wish BTS was folkstyle.. would that have made it more popular?? Don’t really follow freestyle but heard it was more entertaining?
Donny staying is absolutely H.U.G.E. Rutgers just won a battle they don’t usually win. Let that sink in. This is huge. Don’t get complacent or spoiled. I am beyond elated and grateful.

BTS is always freestyle, as far as I remember. They often get International wrestlers and all they do is Freestyle and Greco Roman. Folk style is only seen in the USA in HS and College.
The biggest Boom ever would have been the initial hire of Donny P. This would be the second biggest boom. Without Donnie, who knows if Suriano comes here or AA wins his NC......
Got my own boom from Donny early this morning. Wonderful.
I expect that everyone realizes that the combination of Goodale and Pritzlaff is better than any possible recruit. They have a proven track record.
The future of a top recruit is uncertain. Look how many top 3 recruits did not pan out be it injuries, outside interests, academics, hitting peak in high school, legal issues, or something else. This happens at Penn State, Iowa, Lehigh, Cornell, Rutgers, Michigan and every major wrestling program.
I will take Goodale and Pritzlaff over any group of recruits.
The vast majority of top 3 p4p recruits actually do pan out.... studying the correlations of ncaa champs and AA most of them were highly recruited in HS.. ofc there will always be outliers just like everything in life but stats don’t lie...
For example, take a look at PSU’s run of dominance... nearly all their best wrestlers were top 10 p4p recruits... and nearly all panned out.. except for like Gullibon and like the Altons.. and even they were still able to AA... even our own Suriano and Ash were both top 10 p4p recruits...
Having great coaches is important but at the end of the day u need the talent too! Even Cael Sanderson won’t bring Maryland a team title without the wrestlers... securing Pritzlaff for the future is amazing as it will attract more recruits!
We got the coaches, the new facility, and the fans so now we gotta hammer on the elite recruits to wrestle here! That’s what will take us to the next level

The saving grace with UMD is that their wrestling program has been absolutely terrible since joining the B1G. Given the strength of the conference, it's going to take a ton to get them over the hump to even be somewhat competitive so it's not exactly a sexy destination at the moment.
