Some proposed rule changes, including a modification to "Hands to the Face":

https://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling...g-proposal-would-let-wrestlers-compete-shorts

The Hands change:

"The committee has proposed a reclassification of “hands to the face” from an unnecessary roughness violation to an illegal hold. Rules for illegal holds indicate that “whenever possible, illegal holds should be prevented rather than called.” This would provide referees more flexibility to use verbal cues, issue formal warnings and/or stop the action as “potentially dangerous” before calling an illegal hold. Referees still may call an illegal hold for hands to the face without warning if they determine it is appropriate."

Thank God. It's a contact sport, these guys aren't stationary targets. I could see if it's blatant but incidental should have always been a warning.

There are some other interesting ones, especially regarding medical forfeits which has been discussed here numerous times as well.

Both of these would be welcome additions as well.

Video review
The committee proposed a change to mat-side video review challenges. If approved, an unsuccessful coach’s video review challenge will result in a stalling warning for that coach’s wrestler. If the wrestler has received a prior stalling warning, the unsuccessful challenge could result in the loss of a point.

Committee members think this will reduce the number of frivolous challenges and improve the flow of individual matches.

Medical forfeits
The committee proposed that a medical forfeit would result in a loss for the wrestler unable to compete. Counting medical forfeits as a loss was seen as a better indicator of the wrestler’s overall season success. Additionally, this would provide for improved communication between the wrestler, medical personnel and coach as to the wrestler’s readiness to enter competition.

These are excellent changes across the board. Hands to the face was becoming quite the distraction and I’ve about had my fill of the nonsensical reviews. Well done by the rules committee.

Watching the US Open, you lost a point for a lost challenge so it really keeps you from throwing the brick based on nothing more than a Hail Mary.

Johnny Sebastian to Wisconsin (from Northwestern).
Big woop. He's going to Wisconsin for what? To continue his lousy career? That kid never gave Rutgers even a thought or shot,so I could care less that Wisconsin got him.By the way Leonard..what was with that "I'm anti Rutgers Wrestling" bullshit speech the other day? I'm a huge Rutgers fan and alum

Any of our guys registered for the Last Chance Senior WTT qualifier this weekend in East Stroudsburg?

Anyone going to Beat the Streets on Monday, which I hear is now sold out? JoJo, Ash & Nick will be wrestling.

Go RU!

Lousy career? When he made NCAAs Rutgers didn’t have a qualifier at his weight. He was obviously hurt this year and not himself.

This was uncalled for especially since it's pretty ridiculous to call the career of a two time NCAA qualifier, lousy.

He didn't want to wrestle here and we really didn't have a need for him either, so it seems it was a pretty mutual decision.

This is a wrestling news thread (see title "2019 Wrestling News"), and this transfer is newsworthy. That's it. I didn't provide any commentary. Nonetheless, here's my commentary: he's a 2x NCAA qualifier and will be a solid contributor for them, but I'm not rooting for him, because I don't root for kids that go elsewhere.

I called you out because of your comments knocking Goodale. You have a funny way of showing your "support" in that reply that I commented on.

Johnny was a pretty big recruit coming out of hs.. 3x nj state champ.. although, he hasn’t AA he’s a good bet to qualify for nationals. Leonard only mentioned him bc we prolly had an outside shot for him to transfer here, but yeah otherwise idrc how he does in Wisconsin either..

I don't think it's about being nice it. It's just why are we talkin about a guy who snubbed his nose at our wrestling team, never panned out at all in college, and probably won't pan out at Wisconsin. I don't get why this conversation
O God, not this numbnuts again. I'd take anyone of the 50 Badgers' fans over this guy.
Ha.. I think you're even more of a numbnuts that you actually spend time talking about a guy that never even came to our program, and actually frowned upon Rutgers. On top of it he didn't even do anywhere near what he was projected to do in college, regardless of his injuries. To elaborate more on your own numbnuttness, you thumbs up some of my posts and now you're trying to grandstand. Ironically you never offer anything remotely poignant or pertinent to these conversations you just agree with everything and occasionally add your own spin on things.. typical follower.

Guys (all of you), can we please NOT make this RU board unreadable again & tone it down? You wouldn’t think we are all rooting for the same team to succeed. Geesh.

Moving on....Casino Knight was fun last night! Very well done. Great fundraiser and we would definitely attend again. Got to see & catch up with some great people! SKWC is working so hard in its dedication to support RU Wrestling, which is something to be very proud of. SKWC’s support is an integral piece of the puzzle for RU Wrestling program to succeed. It’s how the elite programs do it...wrestling clubs (SKWC) & training centers (NJRTC). Something we all need to get behind & support...

Go RU!

WTF:confused:

I replied to wiscowrastler dipsh*t, not you. He came onto our board during the Wisky match trashing us and saying we only won because they didn't have a full lineup. Then preceded to lecture us how Wisky is on the rise while we are on the down slide. Crack is whack, I encourage you to listen to Whitney Houston and give that sh*t up.

Ok. I don't even know how to respond to that. So I'll just say we're even. In all fairness I've never even seen this Wisconsin wrestler on this form. What does listening to Whitney Houston got to do with someone's made up crack addiction? You have an affinity for love songs or something? Of a few songs I know of hers I've never heard her sing about crack. I know in a couple of them she wanted to dance with somebody, Saving All My Love For You, I have nothing. Sounds like you better chiggy chiggy check yourself, and figure what team your batting for

That’s what happens when this board becomes a cesspool...everything gets misread & misunderstood...and unreadable! :boxing:

Go RU!

It happens everytime some newbie comes on here trashing our coaches, program and posters. If it keeps up, the mods will need to take out the trash again, because the core of us that have been here for an eternity, some of which have wrestled here or are parents of kids that have, don't need this nonsense.

Crackers all of us that post here about wrestling knew this guy when we we’re approaching the Wisco match and he wandered over here. Whitney was on the stuff but again if we continue to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are in fact not Creedo you should tone down a bit.

Is AJ a tweener in college? Or do people expect he will be able to maintain 197? I am always wary of the high school recruits at 197 and 220.

I was thinking Kyle Snyder might be the best workout partner for AJ.
I had the same question as Cabbagehead.

I sure hope Rutgers can snag him and his brother.
Could be a game changer.

One thing is I know they are close with the Gravinas. If Downey stays Around that’s a pretty good partner. But definitely need more in Upper Weights
