The saving grace with UMD is that their wrestling program has been absolutely terrible since joining the B1G. Given the strength of the conference, it's going to take a ton to get them over the hump to even be somewhat competitive so it's not exactly a sexy destination at the moment.
Seems like wrestling is the only sport the Terps have that isn't at least decent in the B1G in.

Ferrari's are moving back to Texas:

Thank you to Bergen Catholic. The President, coaches, teachers, teammates, fellow students and wrestling parents. We came here mid-season with full intention of AJ and Anthony finishing high school here, as well as Angelo attending.
The boys have made friends here that should last a lifetime.
For several reasons, the boys will not be here next year. AJ and Anthony had been living with their mom in an apartment near Bergen Catholic separated from their father and other siblings since January. The plan was to purchase a home near Bergen after wrestling season. After months of searching, we could not find anything affordable close to BC that could accommodate the entire family. More importantly, there have been health issues, and all of Adriana’s doctors are in Texas. A decision was made to return to Allen, Texas. The boys have over 40 family members there, our church (COGWA/UCG) and a large support system. It has been difficult to be away from the family, as we have lived within a few miles of each other their entire lives.
The 3 boys and their 2 sisters were very upset about the decision to move back to Texas, as they all made very good friends here. Outside of Blair, they really felt like they fit in Jersey. Right or wrong, most family decisions have been based on wrestling. However, Adriana’s health has to take priority right now, and the stress of the past year from the move to Blair away from family and friends, the transfer out of Blair, family split up and living in one of the most expensive areas of the country has taken its toll.
We want everyone in New Jersey to know that we loved it here. We loved the people, the wrestling, the wrestlers, wrestling parents and coaches. It has been great to live in a state that loves wrestling as much as we do. Although, we did not love the laws in Jersey (gun laws, high taxes, U-turns, etc.)
Coach Bell – thank you for being a great supporter of the boys. They both love you as a coach and a person. They both cannot say enough great things about you.
Eleazar Deluca – thank you for all your work with the boys, especially Anthony. He connected with you in a special way.
Donnie & Dominic – thank you for being such strong male role models for the boys.
Dr. Brian Mahoney – Bergen Catholic President – thank you for your support. BC is a brotherhood like no other. And that comes from the top down.
Mike Foca – thank you again for always making Rednose available for the boys and supporting the boys.
Ryan Wallace – thanks for being a friend, taking care of Angelo and connecting with all 3 of my boys.
John Varga – Angelo will miss his training partner.
Stacy Gravina – thank you for treating my family like your family. Thank you for your cooking and loving the boys and Adriana. AJ will miss your conversations.
Lisa Holly – thank you for being a friend to Adriana.
Nick Francavilla – thanks for helping Anthony prepare for and win his Blair wrestle off, working with both Anthony and Angelo, and bringing in partners for AJ to wrestle. You are a great coach, but more importantly, a good person.
Bergen Catholic Teachers, specifically, Brother Quinn, Mr. Powers, Mr. Dionisio, Ms. Nemeth, Ms. Casper, Mr. Bucev, & Mr. Fox – Thank you for all the extra work you put in and quick responses to emails and inquiries. You always made extra time even though I know you have heavy workloads with all the other students and responsibilities. Your students are blessed to have you.
David Mastrogiovanni – thank you for the access to coach Buxton and the Buxton ATC
Thanks to the parents of Paulsboro. The boys were approached at State in Atlantic City by Paulsboro parents who wanted to let the boys know that they loved watching them wrestle and had no ill will against them.
We are heading home to Allen, Texas, but our brief time in Jersey has left us with some great friends and memories.

Yeah...OKST was in NJ recruiting them hard this past week. Interesting timing...Stillwater is 4 hours from them...
Damn.. this is not a good “coincidental” timing for us....Ferrari is very family oriented and being only a 4 hr ride... his parents must be leaning on him to go OKst now..... not to mention he idolizes John Smith... they were recruiting him hard and now he moves back... sorry I have a hard time seeing him move back to Texas then wrestling back in NJ..it just makes too much sense for OKst now.. dammit!!!

Smith was a whiny bitch in the Suriano match.

I wouldn't get so weepy over the Ferraris.Yes they are great wrestlers, but if Smith and his childish antics are what they want for a 4 career..then adios amigos. On a positive note,Suriano and Gravina have ties to them.If that's not enough, including an upward climb in tournaments,2 NCAA champs, this unbelievable facility in least an 2 months, then we are probably smart that we/they passed on them/ us.

I would have to say the Ferrari sh*tliner has sailed. They seem like a close family and Okie St. is the closest.

Let’s not be those people. They’ve had nothing but good to say about Rutgers. Whether they come here or not, let’s wish them well and move on.

I agree with Banjo, I wish them well where ever the end up.
Family is always first in my book.
I hope all the health issues work out for the family.

They have been complimentary of RU and have respected the program.
That is a major step having top recruits respect our program.

The letter mentioned the ridiculous cost of living here as a reason the whole family couldn’t come up. It’s not unreasonable to think they liked it. Right now it’s two private school tuitions, etc. it’s possible AJ commits here, and the family can relocate in the future.

This seemed to be done in a “rushed” way. Which I don’t criticize them for at all, but if AJ commits here, I would assume he gets a full scholarship (even with the 9.9 rule). Now it’s one less private school tuition. Enough time for the family to find housing, etc. no mid year curveballs.

I don’t think we’re out of it simply because okie state is close to home. Home is where the heart is and you can tell this family has a little bit of northerner deep down inside.

In a perfect world,I don't want to be that person or be those people. The facts way heavily in Ok.St. favor.Tradition,results,coaching,proximity.All makes sense for the Ferrari family. We have had an amazing run the last 3 to 5 years, but I think the pedigree pendulum swings out west.I would hope Gravina is whispering in his girlfriends ear ( Ferraris sister).I also know Suriano has a very good relationship with them. That may may be enough.I am cautiously optimistic though.

Yep. But just like Mark Perry left Oklahoma, got a taste of the northeast, and didn’t wanna go back, there is a chance the ferraris are the same way. The kids loved it. The difference between our outlooks is I genuinely feel tradition is overrated with today’s kids, and we have the staff that can coach up a thoroughbred. Reading in between lines there, I don’t think it’s a done deal he goes to Oklahoma. I think you’d agree that we are neck and neck with Okie state for his services before the health issues arose.

Hell, buy a house in south Plainfield now, get elite level coaching for a year, win a team title, and you don’t need to move everyone back. Near Bergen catholic is pricey. But there are other schools they can consider in other areas.

When you had a taste of the good life, hard to go back.

Wow, poz/turley/Janzer are gonna give us amazing competition at 184.

Poznanski looks like he's been living in the weight room!!
Agreed. Once he reaches college, I think he will settle in at 197. He has such a big frame with room on it still. I would not be surprised if he wrestles his senior year in HS at 195.

He is wrestling Freestyle at 92kg right now which is 202+lbs.

I'm not sure how tall Poznanaski is, but it would be great if he had a growth spurt and became a Cassar type athletic 285 in 2 or 3 years !

He is pretty short(he does look jacked), but remember he is wrestling 92kg partly because the next lowest weight is 80kg(which is 176lbs, and no way he is making or gonna cut to 176). I agree he will probably wrestle 195lbs next season, but not sure what he will weigh. I do like what I have been seeing from him. Hopefully with him, Turley and Janzer(we really did not get to see much of him during this year) we will be much stronger in the uppers for the years to come. Really need to zero in on a Hwt.

Poz falls to #1 seed Allred 10-4 in semis. Close match at 6-4 then Poz tried a big throw but couldn't finish and it ended up a 4 point move for Allred to make it 10-4.

Poz moves very well and is super quick with his shots. He got in on several and was able to finish with a high crotch. I think he will be a very athletic upper weight in college.
