3/8 BACATOLOGY: NCAA TOURNAMENT ANALYSIS

Bac- where did you have RU last year?

9 seed playing 8 seed Colorado

Flux is clearly upset. I think he is confused. He believe he is blaming the Michigan State coach for not running Drums of Thunder any more.

Serious question
BAC...do you think the committee would think SLU playing another game is a stunt and not really count it?

Covid?

I think the weirdest issue is Villanova as a three! What do you do with them?

they won the Big East regular season and have a NET in the top 15, they will be a 3, only slipping to 4 if they go out in the first round of the BE tourney
I know , but I thought the committee takes injuries into account to protect the integrity of the bracket?
I see Villanova as a 5 . Might win the first round , might not win the second round . The 5 seed wouldn’t expect them to as ace to sweet 16

Big bubble showdown to start the day with Syracuse battling North Carolina State at noon in the ACC tournament. Loser is sitting home while the winner needs to beat Virginia tomorrow

Later today in games impacting the bubble...Butler-Xavier and Duke-Louisville

Flux has a point and I would love to hear the committee address

team A beats Michigan and losses to Nbraska
Team B losses to Michigan and beats Neb

All things equal is Team A better then Team B for selection purposes?

Bac, other than you, lol, which of the bracket pickers has been the most accurate over the past few years. I know that Lunardi, Katz, and Palm are three of them, but I seem to recall that Lunardi wasn't so accurate last year. Thanks.

Syracuse off to a good start up 35-25 nearing halftime

Cuse is another team that is easy for RU fans to root against. Who can forget them calling us Rutgirls for so long as they stomped us in FB and MBB?

They need to atone for their past behavior. But no hard feelings, of course. 😀

It’s a concept. Bad loss + Good win > Good win + Bad loss

It doesn’t work that way. Having that Michigan win would be far more important on a gaudy resume lacking quality wins but without very many total losses. For a major conference team with a record around 500 that already has a bunch of really good wins, it would be better to not take a bad conference loss (especially if the resume contains other bad losses).

Tell me if I'm wrong about RU NCAA seeding:

Beat Indiana: 9 seed, possibly 8
Beat Illinois: 7 seed
Beat Iowa/Wisconsin: 6 seed
Win B1G Tourney: 5 seed

Lose to Indiana: 10 seed

Yes it would be worse, in my opinion.

Much worse. We’d be looking at Purdue being our only sure win over a tourney team (though at least one of Michigan State and Maryland will likely get in. And now Cuse is looking good too).

Seeing how weak the bubble is, how is Syracuse not a lock at this point?

Wins over Clemson, VTech and UNC (all will be in the field). 3 wins over NC State (NIT team). The Pitt losses were bad, but no worse than any of the other bubblers losses. One of them was their only loss at home. Can’t see how 3 MWC teams or Drake land ahead at this point.

If they beat Virginia they are in. Their issue is poor results in quad 1 which shows they are a weak road team.

Beating NC State 3x doesn't move any needles. They lost to Pitt TWICE one bad loss okay but 2 to them?

But as of today i am one of the few bracketologists who have them in as of today.

I know. But look at the other bubble teams. Drake has two dreadful losses that are worse than losing to Pitt. And they have one only win over a field team (also at home). There is no way the committee is going to be impressed by their extra quad 4 wins - i.e. Penalize Syracuse for only playing 3 quad 4 games.

Look at Boise. They lost at home to Fresno. They also lost twice at Nevada which is virtually the same as losing to Pitt per NET.

I just don’t see how enough of the bubble teams could do enough to end with a better resume than what Syracuse now has. They just picked up a 3rd win away from home to meet the Palm-o meter.

All the bubble teams will be waiting with baited breath at 730pm in Hamilton, NY as Colgate plays Bucknell.

there will be 10 or so teams with Bucknell hats on!

:Chop banana:

Clemson goes down to Miami. I'd love to see them in a 7-10 game... Much like us they don't really have a great win since December 29. They beat Florida State and we beat Purdue that day.

Yeah Clemson not finishing well. They pissed away a possible 5 seed and now looking at 7 at best most likely 8. Would be a great opponent for Rutgers
