Do they have the TV markets that the B1G goes after? Too many people look at the quality of the program and not how many eyeballs they pull inYup. FSU and Clemson should join the B1G and take the money.
When your undefeated conference champ doesn’t get in the four team playoffs, those opportunities are going to be far less.In terms of money, yes there are 2 power conferences. In terms of opportunity the B12/ACC can offer plenty of opportunity for teams to get in. It might not be 3-5 teams like the SEC or B10 but definitely a possibility of 2 decent amount of the time. It's a chance for lower status teams to raise their profiles by having legitimate shot to get in.
Don't forget too, with a P4, unless some G5 has a crazy good year...the ACC and B12 champ will always have a bye game and be in the quarterfinal automatically. You won't be able to have a Washington and Michigan or Texas and Alabama in the top 4 at the same time. The ACC and B12 champ will take 2 of those spots and that's good opportunity for them.
Money is just a means to an end and that end is to win and achieve meaningful goals and teams in the ACC/B12 will have those opportunities.
Yea but it won't be 4 teams in the future and from now on their champ undefeated or not is almost guaranteed a bye unless the G5 team has some awesome year to pass the B12 or ACC.When your undefeated conference champ doesn’t get in the four team playoffs, those opportunities are going to be far less.
Acc is in trouble in every way
I don't know but a friend told me today that some boosters proposed that very idea. Just decline the bidCould FSU decline any bowl bids? It would be cutting off their noses to spite their faces. But it would do more damage to the schools that want to keep the conference going than other options. Frankly if all the schools that want to leave turned down bowls it would put the ACC in a difficult spot.
It’s being discussedI don't know but a friend told me today that some boosters proposed that very idea. Just decline the bid
would love if they didIt’s being discussed
I don’t think it’ll happen but it’s definitely on the table
The only good part about this whole thing is it underscores the need to get the hell out of the ACC immediately, and possibly gives them more ammunition to do so, by paying less money and absolving less penaltieswould love if they did
no need to get anyone hurt for a meaningless bowl
makes a very loud statement
puts the discussion and validation back on the committee
puts the ACC leadership on the hotseat
puts ESPN on the defensive
that was already knownThe only good part about this whole thing is it underscores the need to get the hell out of the ACC immediately, and possibly gives them more ammunition to do so, by paying less money and absolving less penalties
AAU still 7-10 years awaythat was already known
at least FSU can see that in the SEC, they'd always be a 2nd run
BIG welcomes you with open..........once you get the accreditation of course. Bad enough we had Nebraska but no Oregon is too much to take.
agreeI seriously can’t believe they left out FSU. I hope they leave tomorrow and tell the ACC to go to hell
Agree people are ignoring they had #55 sos.I'm surprised a lot of people are thinking FSU should have been in. Their SOS was brutal compared to the other teams and they looked like a$$ the last few games with their backup QB. Once Bama pulled the upset, their fate was sealed.
Agree people are ignoring they had #55 sos.
It doesn’t matter, they’re a power conference. The NFL doesn’t exclude a division champion in favor of a stronger runner up if the division had a down year.Agree people are ignoring they had #55 sos.

College is different from nfl obviously in choosing the final 4 . I have no problem with them not making it especially with a bad SOSIt doesn’t matter, they’re a power conference. The NFL doesn’t exclude a division champion in favor of a stronger runner up if the division had a down year.
an undefeated power conference champion should get in every time unless you had all 5 P5 champions undefeated. The CFP committee segregates P5/G5 as it is, so it’s not really representative of the whole sport.Terrible comparison you will regret trying.
NFL includes EVERY division. There are no fake “power divisions” designations.
If AFC South has a 8-9 winner - they get in.
So are you proposing all 10 conference champs make the playoffs?
Since the FBS CFP is supposed to represent the entire FBS.
What more did you want them to do?Agree people are ignoring they had #55 sos.
Literally half of FBS is told from game 1 “Doesn’t matter if you win every game. Your schedule won’t be good enough to get into the CFP.”
Literally everyone agrees - actual schedule matters not just number of wins or undefeated status.
But then that gets applied to FSU and everyone loses their mind.
It’s like the Joker in Dark Knight:
Everyone is fine leaving out an undefeated G5 because it’s part of the plan. Even if the plan isn’t fair. But apply the same standards to a P5 team and everyone goes crazy.
When your undefeated conference champ doesn’t get in the four team playoffs, those opportunities are going to be far less.
Acc is in trouble in every way
also, only team in playoffs to play and beat 7 .500 teamsWhat more did you want them to do?
They scheduled 2 SEC teams - both underachieved this year
Miami & Clemson supposed to be top teams in conference - both medicore
Rest of conference sucks - they ran through them
What’s the point of playing any games, let alone OOC games, if you’re going to be judged subjectively based on something (teams who were supposed to be good not holding up their end of the bargain) you have absolutely no control over?
The only thing they had control over was playing the teams on the schedule and winning - which, they did to the tune of 13-0
Can they do that for football only? Don't think that schools are going to want to cut themselves out of the basketball tournament. The B1G and Sec will eventually leave the NCAA and self govern.
Conferences would never go for that. Not the B1G and Sec. They are simply more valuable than every other conference. Easier to cherry pick teams from other conferences to make them even more valuable.
The B1G and Sec will eventually leave the NCAA and self govern.
BC made their CG two years in a row, 2007 & 2008. Personally I think the CTE stuff hit northeastern FB particularly hard with less kids play HS FB thus a smaller pool for colleges to pick from. This was predicted back then.ACC when they expanded by adding BC and Syracuse a few years ago…”600 plus miles to Chapel Hill isn’t really a big deal when you’re getting two of the better athletics programs in the northeast…
…well I mean they were during the 80’s at least.”
