What a workhouse....offense, defense, half court, full court. Jordan needs to limit him to about 30 minutes because he works so hard and we cannot risk him getting too tired.

When you watch him play you forget about the other guy pretty quick. No disrespect, but, losing our top 2 scorers is addition by subtraction. Big addition......small subtraction. It's like night and day.

If he can help change the culture here there will be other Freemans coming to the banks.

Don't agree here. Sanders so far...Freeman not yet. Freeman is making plays and showing what he can do...in spurts.

Multiple breakdowns on the defensive end losing men. 2 minutes left in the game if he moves his feet a little he draws a charge, a play that big time winners make.

With all that being said....I may not being fair as that was his 18th consecutive minute played coming out of the locker room. It might be Jordan that isn't allowing culture change by not keeping "shifts" short, which in turn values defensive possessions.

I also like Freeman and Sanders over Mack and Jack. I'm just not 100% convinced that Freeman's success will translate in the B1G. Good, smart player but very undersized for his game. Wish he had a mid-range game.

I think you're being a bit hard on him.

if we played "what looks out of place here", it's Freeman. he's that much better than the players around him. But, one of the things that I LOVE about Freeman is that he clearly makes those around him better.

we can nitpick him on a couple of plays here and there, but for me he's been our best player so far. by far.

Best post game and best finisher around rim since Rashod Kent. Although we do need to see how his game will translate against better competition.

I am. Pointing out difference between a very good player and a great one. Looking at what PITT was (or still is) or what Calipari demands at UK.

Greene, I did not say he was the second coming of the second coming. My point was that if he continues to blossom then others of his ilk may watch ,absorb and say yes to the RAC. We have no history, no current or recent professionals, no cache and are no attraction to those who will follow him. We need to start the process right now. I was just looking for a ray of light in an otherwise bleak landscape. I have been a fan since I was a wee lad in the 60's. And I am starting to lose my religion about all of this so I will cling to this. [cheers]

It's really easy to nitpick over individual plays in a game. Not everything is bad defense. Even average players in a heavy motion offense will score and will sometimes make a defender look bad. There are too many athletic players out there.

Move his feet to draw a charge OR it could just as easily have been called a block resulting in a 3 point play.

FIG,, you made a definitive statement that all he had to do is move his feet and he gets a charge. It could just as easily have been a block called on him.

Pure silliness. You want us to not contest layups when a guy is in position in case it is a 3 point play? It was a lazy play.

No, not silly. it's responding to an internet guy nitpicking over an individual play by a guy who worked hard and played a long hard game.

AND, no one said, not to contest a shot if you are in good position to do so. Offensive guys can make quick athletic moves to the basket; sometimes guys just get beat by great moves......you just sit back and call him lazy on the play.....spoken like a true armchair player.

take a look. 1:55 left 1:23:30 on BTN2 go. Right after the williams 3.

Again Freeman is a very good player and had a very good game. Just needs to be dialed in more possessions. I am going to blame playing all 20 in 2nd half. he shouldn't be asked to do that. Both short term and for the medium term.

Watching replay what I find disturbing is our assistant coaches no where near the huddle during timeouts.

Rewatch the 2nd half defensive possessions and focus on Freeman. It really isn't fair to Williams and Sanders. There is a different level of focus and discipline.

Freeman makes plays. He also freelances defensively and too often losses his man. Bottom line....this team needs more out of Freeman (and others) on the defensive end.

Jordan needs to fix this. Most of the issues is off the ball. Defending cuts and interior defensive rotations. Way too slow or not even there.

Is this guy really critcizing Freeman? Dude is a vacuum cleaner under the basket. He's a stud for us.

I'm thrilled with Freeman so far, but the play in question was indeed Walt Frazier style "matador D". Given the situation & score, it was a little disconcerting. But as stated above, he may have been over-tired.

That said, he is great at corralling (sp?) loose balls & rebounds, he can pass, score either in transition or from the low/high post, and can finish with either hand. Have we had a big man like that since Rashod Kent?

I can't remember a 4 we have had that was as versatile. I am not sure if Freeman is as good with his back to the basket as Kent was. He is very explosive facing up 15 feet away.

So far he has been a good offensive rebounder, byt statiscly not a good defensive rebounder. Against CA he had 3 D REB and CAU missed 38 FGs. Very low percentage. In his 1st 4 games....3,3,4 and 3 DREB. kent was a beast on the boards.

I've been sad since he verballed that we only have him for 2 years. Love his game.

How can you say Freeman is lazy? Now I fully agree that our defense especially on the interior was awful against CAU. But the guy is clearly not lazy. He hustles his a$$ off.

Being good defensively is not all due to effort. You don't just become an incredible defender by deciding you are going to play smothering defense.

We were "all out" to win this game. What came with that was a couple of guys being asked to play a whole bunch of minutes. And the defensive effort suffered. I have been a very big Freeman "flag waver" from the start. But he was not very good defensively Sunday.

I apologize GRF --you did not say he was lazy. I thought I read somehwere about lack of effort but my reading comprehension is off today

It smelled like the Vanderbilt game from last year MINUS quality opponent. Going full tilt and playing guys high minutes with a quick turn around and a cross country flight. I get what a loss might have done to the team.

Last year's team had no depth. I'd hope this year's team has enough depth where you are a BETTER team in a game where a Sanders and Freeman play only 30 minutes vs. 36-37.

In that game Eddie HAD to get both Freeman and Sanders out of the game for a 10 minute stretch (real time, not game time) in the 2nd half. He has to pre plan this stuff and be disciplined.

Williams, Freeman and Sanders has to have fresh leagues for us to be competitive in the dog days of February and they have to have their wind closing out games in the short term. Asking a 4 to score the basketball, rebound the basketball, defnd on and off the ball, and run up and down the entire length of the court (unlike a guard who doesn't have to) without a break in the 2nd half isnt smart.

He's best around the hoop as anyone that's been here in 25 years

Freeman, 9-15, 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 steals, 2 assists, 2 TO's in 35 minutes......that's a great stat line and game, I don't care who it was against. When was the last time a Rutgers player put up those kind of stats in a game?

Stats only tell part of the story. Again last night Freeman wanders around defensively and way too often looses his man. At least 5 baskets were scored last night directly from Freeman losing a man OR worse never taking one. he and other Knights are also way too slow getting back on defense. Too much jogging.

I just rewatched the game, and man there was 0 defense that game. Both Freeman and Foreman will be eaten alive in the B!G if we have to play extended minutes small. The bad part is that it is the best team we can put out there.

I love Freeman's game, but he needs another piece around him. I like the way he think, but both he and Corey seem to just not be on the same page as the rest of the team yet. Though I think they still look better than last year.
