APP; New article on possible OC list

So much for all the posters here claiming "this was done together/Ash pushed him" and whatnot, because "they have someone "waiting in the wings."" LOl the things people will say to fit their agendas.

Funny stuff fellas :chairshot::chairshot::chairshot:

You know, a "good" writer is not one who writes "positive" stories. Just saying.

Funny, everyone liked Keith and Ryan before they got there. They are the same writers they always were, with a bit more experience.

For basketball, I'll take Carino. But for football ...

IMHO they both have been different "reporters" since switching to NJ.com and Co.

Carino is a snarky turd. Look at the picture caption of the article about Michigan tailgating at Rutgers. Pelzmann has been good. Better than Dunleavy used to be and is today.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to be optimistic about it! No one wants to assume a 29 year old kid who produced the worst offense in all of FBS would voluntarily leave - just makes us look even worse.

I think his was very much about 3 things:

- it's TEXAS

- he's FROM Texas

- he gets to coach AT Texas with his very friend and a ton of speed and talent on the O which, here, he simply didn't have

...I really don't believe there's anything more to look into than just that, nor do I think we look "bad" in any way, shape, or form, if so. People are simply looking too much into this IMHO.

To me, the fact that he had to make a payment eliminates the pushed/agreed argument, and I had floated that as a possibility. The fact that Ash is looking at several possibilities doesn't speak to it one way or the other.

There were one or two posters claiming, in one of the threads, that it had to essentially be a "done deal" already, hence, my comments.

Again, I think everyone is just looking WAY too much into this, to be honest.

I like that the bottom of the article says that Hamilton got an agent. I wish him the best and think he can make an impact in the NFL even though his college career didn't go as planned. It also says Cioffi hired an agent. I wish him the best but there's a 0% chance he can play in the NFL. He could barely tackle receivers from the University of Illinois, nonetheless trying to tackle Leveon Bell.

Got it! When I see a thread that's on it's 8th page, I zone out a bit! I'm a big believer in Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation that is consistent with the known facts is usually right.

Conspiracy theories and fake news are super in these days. The hottest trend of 2016!

Can't read the article, APP is doing ad blocker detection.

To sum it up: Ash already has a list and some guys are coaching in Bowl games. So if he can get one of those, the announcement will get delayed. Ash wants to hire someone before the end of the month if possible.

Maybe he just wants to wait until after he comes back from the OSU Bowl Games...[winking]

Seems that, absent any action on DM's part, he would have been back as OC .. (so most clearely DM was not "fired"). but... also suspect that this came as no real 'shock' to Ash - certainly once Herman was named at Texas, Ash had to at least wonder if it would impact any of the RU staff - and with DM having a special sort of "protege" relationship - the odds were good.

No idea how it all went down - - but inclined to guess that the whole "has to make a payment" is more of a fact that came to be in the media based upon the re-reading of the language of the original contract - not on any specific currently made statements from people involved in the process of how DM is going to make his departure - No one at RU has officially said 'the departure clause will definitely be enforced' - and no one has said "it will be waived" - since It is almost certain that it will be picked up by Texas - in one way or another - anyway - almost like moving expenses.

Ash seems pretty systematic - so he may have sat down with each staff member and done a post season review - or his plan may be to do that after signing day - but regardless of Ash's public statements of support for DM & the direction of the developmental process - it is difficult to imagine that Ash would not have some firm & blunt assessments / words - at the very least "tough Love" style - and maybe more "tough" than "love" - one-on one, you have to assume that Ash made it clear that this year was ugly & there is now a mountain of work to get done & that never again can the offense stumble like it did this year - but probably would finish with - OK let's get to work.

Also - Ash being pretty systematic - (remember the background articles on him a year ago & how he has file cabinets full of ideas, outlines, how to coach, how to build team, designs of plays and on & on ) .... So - it would not surprise me if he had a conceptual rough draft 'short list' of possible replacements for each critical staff slot in a drawer somewhere.

For now, I'll cling to the perception that Ash & Hobbs are not slow 'learners' - they only need to go down a path once to judge it & if it was less than successful - will seek a different & assuredly improved approach. So, it would be a shock if the next OC was lean on prior experience - might be young - but will guess that his body of work will include proven design, construction and competitive success with a power-spread offense - and with a smattering of adversity experience sprinkled in - like had to revise/rebuild due to injury/transfer/ graduation - and succeeded ... had to take on stronger opponents & out schemed them / out thought them.

That's a bit odd, isn't it?

Unless his targets have bowl games before the end of December. Maybe he has an agreement that cannot be announced until the bowl game is played. If true, that means it is not a FCS target.

So.. is it one of these 56 teams who all play before Dec 30?

Any obvious candidates stand out from the list? Would be nice to try to catch the games of the the top candidates.

I don't find it "odd" at all considering the "odds" of us landing someone whose team is playing AFTER Dec 31st would be, well, not exactly in our favor?

Excellent post that everybody should read. The facts are the facts and it really doesn't matter if DM was pushed out or if he left for his man crush. All that matters is Ash hires a replacement that takes the talent at hand and improves it.

We can all have our opinions but nobody but Ash and DM really know what went down so arguing as to who is right or wrong is futile.

Even though, I am 100% certain Ash kicked his sorry ass to the curb!!! Go RU!!!

!

As important as the incoming talent and talent that was on the sidelines this past season (see: Mitchell). Luckily a lot of the "talent," on that side of the ball, is gone. We couldn't turn-over our WR and TE groups quickly enough IMHO.

It could be Ash told him he had faith in his ability but if next year turned out like this one did Drew better start looking for employment.
Mehringer seen the writing on the wall and went to a place he felt he could succeed and have more help to do that.
DM was between a rock and hard place when he was hired , lack of talent was the hard place and inexperience along a roster that didn't fit his type of offense was the hard place.
Combined they sunk him in 2016 and he probably felt it wouldn't be any better in 2017, and felt his coaching future would be affected.
So once Herman was hired by Texas, the lifeline was thrown and he grabbed it an ran to Texas in order to keep his career looking it was ascending, not descending like it would have if he didn't turn the RU O around in 2017 .

I think that is a fair guess and would be smart on everyones part. DM needs more seasoning and more mentoring and he will get that in Austin. And we have a cance to reset our direction on offense... maybe we someone who can win more with what we have now.

I hope it ends up a win-win-Win for DM, Ash and Rutgers.
