April 26, 1948, 74 years ago today, WRSU begins broadcasting to Rutgers U, New Brunswick, NJ dorms on College Avenue Campus, and to the surrounding area. This makes it one of the oldest college stations in the country, and one of the few still on the air from that time period. They started as an AM station, converting fully to an FM station by 1976. Still broadcasting in the area today, tune in to 88.7 FM 24-7 to listen.

Check out this site for the best researched history of a college radio station.

And that station is WRSU! - Articles, audio dlips, etc. chronilogically ordered by any decade since 1948:

WCTC allowed WRSU to simulcast its football coverage in 1951 and WRSU broadcasted football with its own announcers in 1954. The AM closed carrier signal could only be heard in Rutgers dorms and buildings and moved to 680 AM in the early 1950s. They became WRSU 88.7 FM in 1974 and has been available on your radio dial ever since. "Knightline" began during the undefeated men's basketball season of 1975-76 and expanded to call ins with football beginning with the Rutgers-Penn State game to open the 1977 season.

Future years will honor students from different years and decades.
